Watch the video "directing me" and you'll see their faces side by side singing. very different. tegan's a bit taller & has more of a "butch" or androgynous clothing style with a center labret piercing, (not to be mistaken for sara's tiny mole below her lip) and sara has a very European style. (at the moment) Google when in doubt.

They write seperatly, (until recently when they collaborated in New Orleans for Sainthood) so they always sing the songs that they have written,and they do back up vocals for the live performances on the other person' songs. You can check out some of Tegans congs like The Con, Call It Off, Hell and many others. The only song to make it on Sainthood which they collaborated for was Paperback Head.
