  • Yo boon, could you make a video explaining how you assigned each individual drum sound to a track in logic?

  • yeah i've heard about logic it's a program for mac they told me that it cost 199 $ few years ago it costed as much as a mac laptop cost now. so boon doc uses real drums for his beatz is that what u're sayin'? what's a "VSTi" plugin and NI's products? many thanks for the tips man really appreciated i checked the m-audio keyboard and it's what i'm lookin for. do u have any suggestion about good speakers?

  • @sonofbrazil not sure what budget your in but check out yamaha HS50s bout 400 a pair but if you can drop some serious dough the HS80s are 700 and those are amazing... Native Instruments also has some wicked drums as pointed out...check out abbey roads and or studio drummer...amazing drum sounds from each. also check out superior drummer from Toontrack, those are just about the best you can go for acoustic drums sounds other than the real thing.

  • ayo boonie is that a midi keyboard you're using?!!! also, what do you think about fl studio?

  • @sonofbrazil Boon uses an M-Audio Keyrig 61.

  • @MadddSkillzzz aight thanks for replying is that M-Audio keyring 61 a midi keyboard?!

  • @sonofbrazil Yep, USB powered midi keyboard. I gotta correct myself, it's a KeyStation 61.Oh, btw. It has no regular midi-out, you can connect a pedal to it tho.

  • Comment removed

  • @MadddSkillzzz aight man thanks. u said that it doesnt have a regular midi out. what does that mean? does that mean that i cannot connect it to the mpc? forgive my ignorance i'd like to know more about it tho

  • @sonofbrazil Man, I'm really talking shit right now. lol. Forget what I said. The KeyStation series has regular MIDI output, the KeyRig (Which I have) doesn't and that's about the only difference between them. So yes, you can connect it to the MPC if you want to. Btw. you askng this is about the opposite of ignorance. Get at me.

  • @MadddSkillzzz lol aight man thanks again since boonie is using a midi keybord what program do u think he's using to play that keyboard coz u know midi keyboard have no sound. i'm asking coz i'm about to buy me one and i just wanna make sure i pick the right one

  • @sonofbrazil He does most of his stuff in Logic, which I heard is nice, but I never tried it, cause I don't have a mac. Then, like he said in the video, he uses Native Instrument's Abbey Road 70's drums as a VSTi plugin in Logic. It's very good, like most of NI's products. Hard to tell what other plugins he uses, he does have his own sample packs tho. If you ask me, M-Audio makes good keyboards for the money.

  • im a ableton user just now switching to logic. i know i sound like a noob. but how are able to assign the drum sounds to different keys on the keyboard/drum pads?

  • My ear drums just came all over the people sitting next to me. Just great Boonie. How do I explain that to them now....ha ha

  • Yo ur really forfilling the basics of hiphop! much respect from denmark mayn! keep shining B

  • Damn thats the weirdest way Ive ever seen. I always do right hand index middle and ring on the highats with a closed half open and open if possible pinky and ring of left hand on the kick so i can double up on the kick if I want, middle and index of right hand on snares!!!

  • i love your beats and they are amazing, but i think a lot of them have a very similar swing and feel. mix it up some with some different rhythms n stuff. love your vids tho!!

  • QUICK QUESTION: Is this a Reason drum kit? Or are these sounds you loaded manually in Redrum...

I've been drumming in Reason using this technique for a few years now.

  • @bamhammer He said it's the Abbey Road drum kit, worth the money. So I take it that he bought 'm and so they don't come with Reason.

  • lol. Boon tried to teach me this ish when he was in Dallas... and... Ummm... yeah, lol. It ain't for the faint of heart.

  • hello , does the keystation 61es feel good ?

  • @BIGSABMUSIC Only macs

  • @BIGSABMUSIC Logic is an Apple program

  • @BlackTuezday so you think i shoud switch over to mac cause ive been thinking about building a faster pc but i was thinking about just buying a macmini to start off with , whats the best mac i can get for a reasonable price between $600-$1000?

  • Anyone know of a decent keyboard compatible with the MPC1000 ?

  • Yo those abbey road 70s drums can they be used on the mpc and/or fl studio?

  • @YourzTruly0 It can be used on FL Studio as a VST. But not on the MPC by itself. Only if you have it connected through MIDI in your program

  • Boonie, you know what would really sound hot with those drums.......a cowbell!!!

  • i usually do kick and snare with left hand middle on kick pointer on snare, and hats with right hand, pointer and middle, this allows for movement into fills.

  • abby road FTW

  • nice tip homie!!

  • BOON DOC Is the boss!

  • Yo! Boonie this was more than a golden nugget!

  • If you get really used to it try adding rim shots like ghost notes and adding snares on beat. Then mix it up. I dunno, I'm a drummer I've never played drums on the keyboard but those sounds were nice and live. Just my two cents. Sounding good dude.

  • Have you considered teaching? On the real I bet you could run some dope and informative seminars. Excellent.

  • glad your doing vids without taking such a long break....

great tips and that rimshot is really dope

  • Great vid, never liked keyboard drumming, but allot more understandable now.

  • Hey! what do you think of the Maschine? I know you use an MPC but have you tried/given any thought of Native Instruments Maschine?

    not complaining!

  • damn it sound so real

  • you should load then up in your MPC like i do they sound

  • do u mind if i make this video 2 a mp3 and borrow sum of them drum loops u doin

  • thanks doc..you came through again!

  • Just out of curiosity are there any faves you have for certain drummers who you like to sample ? Then chop the beats up and make them your own.For example I love John Bonham's drumming,I also am a fan of Mitch Mitchell from Jimi Hendri'x The Experience band.As well as funk cats like Clyde Stubblefeld.I don't think I will ever buy kits when I can just sample the sounds I want from vinyl. My fave snare is actually the "Billie Jean" snare.I think I'll keep that in mind for the future (your tips).

  • Thumbs up. informative.

  • tips on the bass would be dope

take it easy keep banging them beats out

    peace brother

  • @SOu1VIBE I really don't have much tips on bass. It's really just an understanding of harmony and groove. And the harmony/melody aspect would take tons of videos trying to teach basic music theory.

  • @BlackTuezday word thanksso were you suggest i start with that

  • @SOu1VIBE There's tutorials and info all over the place on music theory and using bass notes. I'd say google and youtube them

  • oooooooohhhh that shits fucking dope ass hell i never knew you could actually do that shit on a keyboard, what do you need to play drums on it though? does it come with it or something?

  • @SOu1VIBE check out warbeats man. he has a 20 minute long video on effective basslines. he has lots of information to give.

  • No Mames Wey Eres La Mera Verga Homie

  • Thanks for this.

  • you could nearly be a drummer of a band

  • good stuff boon doc-been following you on youtube as if it was twitter!!!!! thanks for all the inspiration

  • Thanks for the tips. I'm so used to playing on the mpc. It seems easier on the keyboard.

  • @hillprop97 No problem...Both ways are useful. You can apply the same finger assignments etc. on the MPC pads as well. Either way works

  • Make one about finding and flipping samples! Go back to your roots!

  • @bppoupore "choosing" rather than finding

  • @bppoupore No

  • @BlackTuezday Hahahaha it was worth a shot...

  • BOONIE YOU'RE A GENIUS!

  • nice vid ;) keep em comin

  • how do you do drum rolls on tom rolls/snare rolls in logic boon doc?
