Any size. Some people juggle with 7 volleyballs. Vova juggles with 67 mm size balls. This is about 2.6 inches.

Well, I would say the World Record is 12 clubs for 70 passes caught. 13 and 14 clubs were done for only 13 and 14 passes caught. I don't consider it juggling. And of course it was done without a unicycle. :-)
