But Obama's speech to the DNC reached above 800,000 views, at least on youtube, while McCain is in the 200,000 range. But maybe that's because most watch his on tv?
It deeply saddens me when we use our intelligence and creativity to point out the shortcomings of any brother and sister.
Brother join me in MLK's teaching and rise above the fray of political line and find ways to unite and build up each other.

Yea that is what white people said about Lincoln's speech, when that republican took a bullet for your sorry ass to be able to post this sorry ass video about republicans....
Bottomline..McCain= more soilders dying, more recession, more jobs being outsourced, basically everything thats going on now with the Bush admin. But let McCain tell it "The ECONOMY and the state of America is JUST FINE". How can you hear him say that and still want to vote for him. I'm convinced that Obama's skin color and him being a democrat is keeping people with their head up there ass and Pro-traditional people away. We'll never be the country we could be with that mentality. OBAMA 08
I agree that John McCain is no where near the same calibre of public speaker as Barack Obama. But I'll bet he's killed more bad guys, and will do so again.
While we don't need a "war god", we do need a Commander-in-Chief who can vanquish the enemy. There is an enemy trying to kill each and every one of us, taking us as he finds the opportunity. The tried and true response is to kill "him" first.
Yes, but did we go after who eveyone thought we were going after? Absolutely not. We started a war on another country that did not pose a direct threat to us just yet instead of going after the priority...Osama.
Were mistakes made? Yes. As I recall, at the time, the country was overwhelmingly with the president and "his" war. Of course, had he been right, and what he feared came to pass, a mushroom cloud over an American city, the country would never have forgiven him, including you.
Agreed, but that does not necessarily excuse his actions. All he accomplished was to satisfy the hurt and rage most of us were feeling. When that's all said and done with, what do you get, regret, wishing better choices were made. I would expect the President to look out for the people, not just adhere to our rash feelings. I would have respected that more.
Zennie, are you saying that you're still not proud of your country? Can't you make a video where you don't whine? Have your mommy tuck you in tonight, maybe she didn't pay you enough attention when you were young.
Republican presidential nominee John McCain failed to show up for tough votes -- even as his Democratic opponents (Clinton, Obama, now Biden) had/has been leaving the campaign trail to attend to Senate business.
McCain has not voted in the Senate since April 8.
And another thing people fail to mention is that Obama was an Illinois Senator from 1997-2004, U.S. Senate 2004-present.
Obama voted YES to sitting in a church and listening to a guy say "god damn America"! Real Patriotic! Obama said YES to being mentored by William Ayers who plotted to blow up government facilities....real patriotic Barack. The other 130 times he voted he voted "present". NOT who I want in the white house!
Okay is that all you heard from the speech did you not hear the whole entire SERMON. Did you know Rev. Wright served in the Armed Forces and he was the only one who had access to LBJ? Also you seem to question patriotism how do you feel about Sarah Palin addressing the Alaska Independent Party or better yet how do you feel about Palin's pastor saying something to the effect of America is about to be slapped around by the hands of GOD are you happy with that?
It's funny how things so far in the past only matter if it is seen as something that is negative. But if it is something that is good then it means everything. Being a POW is not relevant to being the head of the executive branch of the U.S.A.
And if he can not, do we really want our country in the hands of someone with all of a BA in Communications from the University of Idaho and who's highest level of elected office is Governor of a state that has no fiscal problems, and has all of 700,000 people (the same as Fort Worth, TX). Not to mention, that person's only been Governor for less than two years, has almost no foreign policy experience and whose only experience with Washington is taking it's money.
This man is 7 yrs past retirement age, about to begin the most difficult, the most demanding, the most stressful job IN THE WORLD. Forget the issues for a minute. Can a man, having gone through what he has gone through, 5 yrs in a POW camp, multiple bouts of cancer, heck the stress of simply being in politics as long as he has... can he handle this job?
@ 1:50... Congressman since 1983, Senator since 1987.
Honestly, that actually furthers your own point though. He's been a part of the game for a quarter of a century. In spite of that, we've seen flub after flub, gaffe after gaffe, the inability to answer certain questions... continuing signs that he can't keep it all straight anymore.
Ohhhhhh how I am loving this. The liberals are literally shitting their pants right now. They have NO idea how to handle this woman....Americas new sweetheart. They are on the offensive and the polls clearly indicate they are in real trouble. Take a look at Gallup, CBS, ABC and even the AOL opinion poll. Obama just lost his thunder and America just woke up!

Hey Zennie, I want to thank you in regards to your comment on the Ron Paul supporters. I suspect we may differ on some of the political talking points but that doesn't mean that as people we need to get in pissing matches like what is heard so often on talk radio. I have colleages that could be labelled "left wing" and when discussing politics we can debate cordially without dividing.
Not agreeing or disagreeing with you but one key aspect of marketing is repeating key points that distinguish you from your competition - to that end we get to hear our candidates stories ad nauseam. To a degree they have to assume someone is tuning in for the first time. Also, perception is often more important than the facts, so the success or lack of success will be judged by what people believe not on the reality. Glad your posting - please layout more facts and less opinion - thanks.
Not only that his speech was lacking substance it was more like a battle cry than a convention speech. so all u mccain bots out there prepare for the draft. if u think palins and mccains kids gonna be fighting wars for u while u sit behind ur computers watching porn 24/7 then u dont know whats coming to you. War with iran under a mccain admin is a guarantee. You must expect another cold war with russia if not the real thing(nuclear war) bcos of his tough rhetorics against russia. Im scared folks
Totally agree. I'm just trying to figure out why some americans cant understand that. Their so proactive on the Bash obama train that they dont see the FACTS or what will DESTROY this country. I would rather have an President that really gives a damn about the american people, than a president thats going to make "critical" choices with his own personal agenda. We have dealt with that for 8 years, why would anyone on this earth want that kind of leadership again.
Well here you go...please explain to me how giving a "well rounded speech" enables you to "run a country" better? Obama gives better speeches, so what?
Answer that and I will answer your 180 question. TRY DOING SO.
Hey zennie, why do you answer the questions I ask you with questions of your own? Questions that are a total 180 of the one I just asked you. Thanks for assuming that I go to wikipedia for all my info. It speaks volumes about your character.
Hey Zennie I totally agree with you and I saw the reaction of the crowd, it was like some were bored? Also what was up the background color. Also I couldn't quite understand what he meant by change and he was going to shake up Washington. I was like but you voted for Bush 90% of the time. Why didn't you just stay true to the Maverick of 2000.
im with zerostar33. but what i dont understand how you could possibly criticize mccain for telling the nation how strong he was. it proves that he can pull through tough obsticles and also how could ANYONE make fun of mccain, such as bill maher, for serving our country when Obama hasnt even served. maybe the democrats should change theyre slogan."we'll fight for you" when infact neither of them served.
Every night of the convention is part of the play. Last and for most is what happens at the end. The "Driving it Home" crescendo concluded it.
Country First, was the undertone of the torture story and ego and self serving not get in the way of what is good for the whole. Broken bones gave way for, "Country First", was driven home.
Wow Zennie. You're casual criticism of John McCain's speech has more passion and eloquence than the actual presidential candidate's speech. Well done once again.
I respect all candidates, though u are right, he should stop using his military experience as a mean to explain his entire self. Listining to him, he didnt do anything else in his life than being tortured. Sure, it was hard on him, but like u said, isnt there more? He didnt give any concrete ways of changing the economic crisis, nothing on education and nothing for health care. Only talked about war, war, war and himself. wow...that will do a very nice president...............NOT!!!!!
It's all X's & O's. (As in strategy) Each canditate needs to stress different things at different points. Obama is relatively new and has been attacked for his early lack of specificity so he has to be specific about policy. McCain has more political history but has to reconnect with Republicans and with those who feal he's become a more hardline Republican - that's challenging, and you can hear both in his speech. He knows there will be time to discuss the details in the debates.
your speech had a lot more passion than jm's(edit and all). I guess we know where those nielsen boxes are located now. "don't believe the hype it's a sequel..."
Yeah, I love Ron Paul, & my fellow supporters of him :)
I love a good debate also, there's no reason to get mad at eachother about politics. We all just love America & want the best for our fellow man, we just have different ideas about how to go about it.
I have nothing to debate with you here though, McCain is indeed pretty wack.
So what? Hitler gave good speeches; speeches alone don't help you run a country. A vision of sound monetary policy and limited government involvement is truly the voice of those who proclaimed, "We hold these truths to be self evident."
Has John Mccain EVER delieverd a good speech? I mean, if you cant deliver a good well rounded speech, how are you going to run a country. Oh let me guess, just trial and error just like the BUSH administration. It's amazing how people conviently forget that BUSH LIED TO US and McCain will be no different in my opinion. Republicans are pretty much detached from reality and I think BUSH and McCain are damn good examples of that.
Hey eastwood2414, please explain to me how giving a "well rounded speech" enables you to "run a country" better? Obama gives better speeches, so what?
Are you serious zerostar33? The PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES is supposed to be held in the highest of regard. If you cant interpret what you believe to be the best thing for this country in an educated thought provoking way, then thats a BIG problem. Your choices as president will affect the lives of millions and if we have..wait a minute, I'm wasting my time..just look at the BUSH administration..for that fact look at GEORGE W. BUSH and if thats not proof in the pudding I dont know what is.
'Sigh' let me be specific. I understand McCain perfectly fine, that's not what I am saying.
How does the ability to craft your words more "eloquently" make you a better leader? Example: I could say, "Eat dirt" or "Assimilate earth" It's the same thing!
You assume that just because people aren't masters of oration they are stupid. That's why people get mad at Obama and call him elitist.
well, being a master of oration is about being able to effectively communicate powerful and evocative thoughts. If you can't do that then you either a.) cannot communicate your ideas well or b.) don't have any great ideas to communicate. Either way, it's a bad fit for the highest job in the land.
Thanks for the explanation but I already know what it means to be a "master of oration." I am the one who brought it up, remember.
McCain communicates his ideas just fine. The point once again is this: Just because Obama is more "wordy" with his speeches, how does that make him better equipped to be a great leader? That was the idea put forth by eastwood2414 and nobody has explained it yet.
McCain communicates his ideas just fine. The point once again is this: Just because Obama is more "wordy" with his speeches, how does that make him better equipped to be a great leader?
Well one could argue if MCcain voted 90% of the time with the Bush administration how can he be an advocate for change. He was just hugging Bush a month or two ago so why the change all of a sudden.
McCain is no master of oration because, as I said before, he doesn't have any great ideas to communicate. Leading is not about making decisions, it's about inspiring people, and McCain doesn't inspire people. He has to bring up his POW history in every speech so that people remember that they cannot question his integrity in any way. McCain isn't a bad leader, he's just not a great one, and there's only one chair behind the desk in the oval office, and it's reserved for the best.
"Leading is not about making decisions" ? Now that's a theory I'd like to see tested. (The trip down that road is usually short.) There are different ways to lead and different types of leaders, but whether one is more or less verbaly inspiring one has to have made a majority of good decisions. Performance is everything.
Thank you for saying the truth Zeeine62. McCain blew it in his acceptance speech.
He would have done much better if he had any substance or conviction for folks making under $5 million a year.
John McCain's 9/11 thing was a trip. He was in Boston on 9/10/01 and in DC on 9/11/01 becoming the lead spokesman in this march to war of the Bush Administration in the weeks that followed. "They are acts of war."

Man you just don't get it. PEOPLE DON'T CARE ABOUT SPEECH DELIVERY; THEY CARE ABOUT THE SUBSTANCE OF THE SPEECH.
Too bad for you most Americans understand that the top 25% pay 85% of the tax burden and that's coming from the IRS, not me. It's only fair that they get a larger tax break. You want to punish them because they made wise choices and got rich? That's Capitalism buddy. What do you want, income redistribution? Obamas "class warfare" strategy will never work.
I'm curious, of those 25% who pay 85% of the taxes, how much of the total income of American's do they represent? Do those 25% represent 85% of the income? Conversely, do 75% of the people only make 15% of all taxable income? Just curious.
ZEROSTARR33's blog is entitled "Anti-Liberal". There's a collection of photo-montage featuring Obama next to Ben Laden and you'll read things like:"Anti-American Supporters of The Anti-Christ Barack "Hussein" Obama"...
"Moron" was originally an English psychological term, from the Greek word moros, which meant "dull" and used to describe a person with a mental age located between 8 and 12. It was once applied to people with an IQ of 51-70, being superior in one degree to "imbecile" (IQ of 26-50) and superior in two degrees to "idiot" (IQ of 0-25)
so I suppose you'd class Cindy McCain's inherited fortune to be a sign of her hard work? Or similarly, John McCain who married her and became a multi-millionaire - he should not have to pay high taxes because he got lucky?
Yes, McCain should not have to pay 85% of the taxes. It does not matter if he or any other person got rich because they "fell into money" or worked hard to achieve it. That's not the point. Obama wanting to redistribute money from the rich to the poor is just flat out wrong.
Why would anyone work hard to become wealthy if Obama is just gonna take most of it and give it to the poor?
you do realize that if someone who had $400 million dollars were to pay 1% in tax, then they'd be paying $4 million dollars, not much of a dent in their wallet, but equivalent to many thousands of normal americans' contributions. However, the tax hike on the rich wont be nearly so extreme. I think the predictions were for about 700,000 more per year for households making over 2.9 million dollars a year. that's hardly going to lead to bankruptcy.
That's not supposed to be the point of the tax break. It is to stimulate the economy, not reward those who paid the largest amount into it. If we only give a large sum of money to a small minority of the population, how does that really help the economy? It would be better to spread the stimulus around to a larger area of the country in order to see a better response to the economy.

A vision of sound monetary policy and limited government involvement is truly the voice of those who proclaimed, "We hold these truths to be self evident."
tedthompsonsucks 3 years ago
no he didn't. Hitler had nothing good to say, so he yelled it as loud as he could, because if he didn't no one would listen.

Republicans are pretty much detached from reality and I think BUSH and McCain are damn good examples of that.
eastwood2414 3 years ago
Hey eastwood2414, please explain to me how giving a "well rounded speech" enables you to "run a country" better? Obama gives better speeches, so what?
zerostar33 3 years ago
Are you serious zerostar33? The PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES is supposed to be held in the highest of regard. If you cant interpret what you believe to be the best thing for this country in an educated thought provoking way, then thats a BIG problem. Your choices as president will affect the lives of millions and if we have..wait a minute, I'm wasting my time..just look at the BUSH administration..for that fact look at GEORGE W. BUSH and if thats not proof in the pudding I dont know what is.
eastwood2414 3 years ago
'Sigh' let me be specific. I understand McCain perfectly fine, that's not what I am saying.
How does the ability to craft your words more "eloquently" make you a better leader? Example: I could say, "Eat dirt" or "Assimilate earth" It's the same thing!
You assume that just because people aren't masters of oration they are stupid. That's why people get mad at Obama and call him elitist.
zerostar33 3 years ago
well, being a master of oration is about being able to effectively communicate powerful and evocative thoughts. If you can't do that then you either a.) cannot communicate your ideas well or b.) don't have any great ideas to communicate. Either way, it's a bad fit for the highest job in the land.
Aussiemoo 3 years ago
Thanks for the explanation but I already know what it means to be a "master of oration." I am the one who brought it up, remember.
McCain communicates his ideas just fine. The point once again is this: Just because Obama is more "wordy" with his speeches, how does that make him better equipped to be a great leader? That was the idea put forth by eastwood2414 and nobody has explained it yet.

Aussiemoo 3 years ago
"Leading is not about making decisions" ? Now that's a theory I'd like to see tested. (The trip down that road is usually short.) There are different ways to lead and different types of leaders, but whether one is more or less verbaly inspiring one has to have made a majority of good decisions. Performance is everything.

but didnt he give in to the torture because he couldnt hanlde his comrads suffering anymore? and wait
he only gave in when they started on him so wtf does that tell you about his integrity
?

Thank you for saying the truth Zeeine62. McCain blew it in his acceptance speech.
He would have done much better if he had any substance or conviction for folks making under $5 million a year.
John McCain's 9/11 thing was a trip. He was in Boston on 9/10/01 and in DC on 9/11/01 becoming the lead spokesman in this march to war of the Bush Administration in the weeks that followed. "They are acts of war."

Hey, is it true that McCain was saber rattling the entire muslism world after 9/11? I don't know what keywords to use, so I can't google it.

Obamas "class warfare" strategy will never work.
zerostar33 3 years ago
I'm curious, of those 25% who pay 85% of the taxes, how much of the total income of American's do they represent? Do those 25% represent 85% of the income? Conversely, do 75% of the people only make 15% of all taxable income? Just curious.

search google for "guess who really pays the taxes" It will explain it all for you.

It was once applied to people with an IQ of 51-70, being superior in one degree to "imbecile" (IQ of 26-50) and superior in two degrees to "idiot" (IQ of 0-25)
mica1307 3 years ago
so I suppose you'd class Cindy McCain's inherited fortune to be a sign of her hard work? Or similarly, John McCain who married her and became a multi-millionaire - he should not have to pay high taxes because he got lucky?
Aussiemoo 3 years ago
Yes, McCain should not have to pay 85% of the taxes. It does not matter if he or any other person got rich because they "fell into money" or worked hard to achieve it. That's not the point. Obama wanting to redistribute money from the rich to the poor is just flat out wrong.
Why would anyone work hard to become wealthy if Obama is just gonna take most of it and give it to the poor?
zerostar33 3 years ago
you do realize that if someone who had $400 million dollars were to pay 1% in tax, then they'd be paying $4 million dollars, not much of a dent in their wallet, but equivalent to many thousands of normal americans' contributions. However, the tax hike on the rich wont be nearly so extreme. I think the predictions were for about 700,000 more per year for households making over 2.9 million dollars a year. that's hardly going to lead to bankruptcy.
Aussiemoo 3 years ago
That's not supposed to be the point of the tax break. It is to stimulate the economy, not reward those who paid the largest amount into it. If we only give a large sum of money to a small minority of the population, how does that really help the economy? It would be better to spread the stimulus around to a larger area of the country in order to see a better response to the economy.
