Typically Pawn shops buy at 5-20% of retail depending on the item. These guys here probably have a Roledex of people to contact once they have bought an item that they think they can resell right away. It's called flipping or turn and burn. Being located in Vegas I would guess that they get much better quality items then being located in some small town. People want to sell there items thinking they may get lucky at the casino and the fact Vagas has a large foreclosure rate helps.

Wow, why all the negative comments! If an item cost $100 new a customer would only pay $50 USED at a pawnshop so the Pawnshop owner must pay $20-25 or less. The pawnshop has expenses just like any other business. Even a retail store who sells a new item for $100 only pays $50 or so. The profit a store makes is how they pay their employees, if you think a pawnshop should be a nonprofit save up 1.5 - 2 million and go start your own!

1. The pawnbroker is a retailer, he must pay wholesale to stay in business. And...

2. He cannot expect to sell everything he buys.
