  • It's uncomfortable how slow and unenergetic you are talking. God this feels awkward

  • I am a massive bibliophile. I have my own library and also can't get rid of any books it's like throwing away friends :(

  • wii book!

  • They throw a sharing party. . . in your pants.

  • That's the author of The Name of the Star

    -fangirl moment-

  • 'This bookshelf is actually being help up by books.'

  • Such awesome bookshelves. So many books. Makes me drool. Want. Books. Now.

    DFTBA.

  • as henry is not here yet... i am confused as to why john has a care bears book :)

  • A bookshelf may be cheaper than Norbit, but what about the books that you fill that shelf with?

  • I'm buying a bookshelf now.

  • There's a good metaphor for the SOPA stuff that's been happening recently.

  • @vlogbrothers GAH spoiler alert, John! I was planning on reading that Care Bears book! :P

  • I like the new library better.

  • "They throw a sharing party."

John, I thought you were strictly anti-spoilers!?

  • MAUREEEN

  • Care Bears Rule!!!!

  • You gave away the end of the book!! How dare you?

  • I'm so glad you included that bit at the end. I was so afraid nobody would share.

  • is gulag a good read? I just saw it on the bookshelf so i wanted to ask

  • I like how 4 years later, Maureen Johnson is defending libraries who suffer from publisher censorship of ebooks.

  • John, we have the same edition of Everyman by Philip Roth. Yeah, I noticed that.

  • A bookshelf is cheaper than some books.

  • John should give away some books he will never read again to his loving nerd fighters

  • that one bookshelf was like jenga.... I want... O.o

  • I love Maureen <3

  • A author who writes gor money will never write a good book

  • He spoiled the book for me I was only half way through!!!!

  • Dang it John from the past (which is all the Johns I've ever seen, but still.)!!!!!!@===- I wanted to read that one!!! now I know that they have a sharing party!!!

  • No human being would stack books like that

  • Soooooo...I found An Abundance of Katherines in my library today. I had a spaz moment and the librarian asked me if I was okay. My respond was, "no I'm not okay! Do you know who this book is by? John Frigging Green!" I think she thinks I'm crazy. She's probably right. When I finish reading it I swear to put a nerdfighter note in it -3. DFTBA!

  • MAUREEN! I love her. So much.

  • "... like blogging about environmental technology."

    SICK BURN!

  • *sob* we just moved really close to a used bookstore but my mom is restricting me from buying anything because I already have two bookshelves in my room and we have no space for any more....and my library is really crappy and far away.:( john, I want your library

  • Maureen Johnson is one of the funniest people on the internet, and I don't even think she makes her own videos.

  • For a second I thought that other author was the jedi

  • @merksmirs Wait, do you mean the Yeti?

  • I love bookshelfs. seriously I love them. I once went to amsterdam on a boat trip thingy. and I squeeled when I saw a bookshelf with a stair. that's is my life goal.

  • John! I'm sure you can read "The Day Nobody Shared" to Henry now!! Score: 1 for hoarding lol :D

  • "This is my voice, there are many like it but this one is mine" -Shane Koyczan,

  • this is my bookshelf, there are many like it but this is mine

  • wii is quite powerful

  • my birthdayyy! :D

  • How the hell do you afford all those books!?

  • @LIGHTRONIX Used bookstores, maybe?

  • BOOKSHELVES! I'm a book hoarder. I like shelves =D

  • NARNIA!!!

  • I guess you have probably read "The Day Nobody Shared" since then to Henry.... :)

  • @TheGingerNinja41 Hank is a classmate of Harry Potter from the Harry Potter book series by JK Rowling. He is a Gryffindor, slightly clumsy, and very brave. He owns a pet toad named Trevor. Hank killed the penultimate Horcrux of Lord Voldemort. As aforementioned, he is extremely courageous.

  • "This bookshelf is held up by...books" X3 Awesome.

  • "The Day Nobody Shared.....in your pants"

  • John, I really hope you kept that book for Henry.

  • John, just a little question...have you read "The Day Nobody Shared" to Henry?

  • that WiiBook gameplay is actually reminiscent of, well, other Wii games.

  • Would that be like the Bookman's creed, or the Readerman's creed

  • Dang it!!! Now I can't read that one! ;D

  • WHO THE FUCK IS HANK

  • @TheGingerninja41 Hank is a popular cartoon pop star from the 80's who turns into his alter ego via a hologram machine. He lives in a halfway house for girls and is close friends with his backup band, the Holograms. Hank was created as a vehicle for toy sales by Hasbro, one of the first toys ever marketed solely to little girls.

Also, I'm screwing with you. Hank is John's brother.

  • "They throw a sharing party"... In your pants :)

  • @luv2sketch100 if it worked like a library then you would have to return the song. Which now that I think about it that's a good thing bc then I could get rid of songs I don't listen to anymore and just buy the ones that I really like. So yeah I agree with you

  • The book Little Brother by Cory Doctorow is available in many formats for free download, because the amazing Mr. Doctorow believes that information should be free.

Just google Little Brother and it should be the first result.

  • Wow, page 38 must have been wicked. lol

  • Man i wish bookcases were that cheap here, it cost like $80 - $100 for a resonable sized one here

  • I think the whole idea of sharing books via libraries and used book stores should apply to music. how are we supposed to afford all our music if each and every song we buy is over $1 on itunes? we buy some books while others we check out at the library. same should be said for music.

  • I hope you've read "The Day Nobody Shared" to Henry. :D

  • for a moment there i thought we finally got to see the yeti and then john explained...

  • I'd buy a Wii just to use the E-book for the Wii!

  • This is great! I have Suite Scarlet on the computer desk with me, and devilish in my room right now! Both from the library! Now I don't feel bad :D John, I always get your books from the library too, btw

  • E-books for the wii. Awe....wait for it, and you better have....some!

  • Why do all of these old videos have 777 likes?

  • Wii books? I'd buy it.

  • John, you are highly entertaining... and am definitely pro Wii books

  • Thats why my school librarian is awesome..."do you have-insert book name here-?"

No *looks it up, orders it*...YAY TO LIBRARIES :)

  • Look at the tags..

  • since I'm watching these videos straight from the beginning in (almost) one sitting, I just realized that Maureen is wearing the exact same outfit she wore the last (and first) time she cameoed on vlogbrothers.

  • I vote John reads 'The Day Nobody Shared' to Henry. Just to make his almost-four-years-ago-self eat his words.

  • You are such a dork, I love you. XD

  • That is an awful lot of books.

  • Maureen is very, very cute. ^^

  • Mmm. Libriaries. I have lived most of my life without acess to a decent libriary. So we just bought books off amazon. And now we have even more books than you.

And I am now exiled from my house to attend grad school in the US, and have very few books :( Since I am not paid enough to buy books I must train myself to use libriaries. There are two very close to me and i am ashamed to say I haven't even been in the public one.

  • John WHAT THE FUDGE!? I was going to read that! No point now...

  • Oh, wow I dig the full metal jacket reference at :09-:11

  • And this was the day nerd breathing > games consonles

  • lol "they throw a sharing party" you made my tummy hurt from laughing. . .

  • It's weird to think on this day i was turning 11.....

  • Aww. You ruined the end for me.

  • You cut off a little snippet at the beginning. ;O

  • Care Bears in my pants ;]

  • Like times 1,000. You guys are amazing.

  • i like building bookshelves out of books.

  • I don't actually have many books... only two closets full... I feel ashamed...

  • MJ!!!! Oh man, I am SO GLAD I decided to re-watch some of these videos :)

  • 40 vid cmnt

  • they throw a sharing party in my pants

  • you know now you are going to need to read that carebear book to Henry.... :)

  • i wish i had this many books..

  • At 2:30 I think you meant MAUREEN JOHNSON AND I.

Sorry John, I had to say it.

  • I just put "an Abundance of Katherines" on hold at the Library. I'm glad you aren't mad at me... ^-^

  • @Catiebugged I dont like abundance of katherines, try paper towns man, its better

  • Thanks for the advice, but I'm going to read all of them... I think when I'm done with an abundance of Katherines I'm going to read Paper Towns... ;)

  • donate the books you dont want :P

  • I don't like libraries, simply because I am greedy and want to keep the book after reading it, hense the reason I still have my parents, siblings, friends, and libraries books in my house.

  • 1:23

  • 1:23

Islamization and native religin in the Golden Horde....In your pants.

  • libraries, are cool, but i like owning books. or, i could check out a book from a library, and if i like it later, i'll buy it.

  • wow, you own a lot of books

  • Continuing on the thought train from my comment on the previous video, I think the reason I'd like a library is to show off how many books I have. Books are awesome, and while I think it's stupid to buy books you'd only read once or don't even like that much, I think I'm kind of a collector. Of books. Which is one of the reasons I prefer buying books to getting them out of the library. I want a lot of books. Like a lot lot.

This collecting thing clashes horribly with my wish to be a minimalist.

  • I totally agree with the inability to give away books. i love all my books

  • LOL. It's not an E-book, it's a WIIIIII-book. :D

  • spoilers much

  • lol I thought I was the only one who had to steady/hold up bookshelves with books

  • i don't like libraries 0:

i can't get a book and then have to give it back. xD.

& i love the carebears book.

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH i cant stop the in your/my pants joke

  • I've read

"The day nobody shared" How do really bad stories with barely a plot get published and sold so easily; when books that take years to write sometimes take years to publish and may never see the best sellers list but are excellent none the less; don't get as publisized as a care bear book! The world does not make sense!

  • Well, the Care Bear book is a children's book, so...

  • COORPERATE BOOKSTORES SUCK!

  • they throw a SHARING party.

  • GOD JOHN! Way to ruin the ending for me!

  • A sharing party sounds like fun!

  • see, and yet musicians don't approve of limewire. kinda selfish on the part of bands. they should be more like john and maureen. it's like the used book store of songs.

  • 1) LimeWire also contains many not-quite-correct versions (i.e. not quite full length) and a lot of junk in addition to real media.

    2) There is no standardization of file names, types, quality, etc.

    3) In used book stores, money still changes hands. You are still doing legitimate business with a person, helping them sustain a small business and make a living.

    4) In no way is it selfish of a music artist to want to be compensated for the service they provide.

  • How does it continue to float??

  • This was hilarious. As a fellow book freak, I concur completely :)

  • I don't think I could ever part with my books. I love them too much.

And I dream of one day having my own library in my house.

Safe to say, I'd be a happy camper.

  • "Is this a debate?"

"it seems more like an agreement"

    I liked that, haha

  • As an English teacher, it is great to see someone who loves books so much that they refuse to part with any of them.

It is also great to see two awesome authors who care more about people reading their books than they do people buying their books.

  • Well thanks for ruining "The Day Nobody Shared".

    D:

  • I think the Nerdfighters should throw a sharing party like the care bears did.

  • Oh my God, how does Magical Floating Bookshelf work?

This is going to bug me. :(

  • Hank shows you in his video, it's a lot like that one, but with more of them.

  • Have you figured out how it works?! Because I haven't... :(

  • There are these metal flap things that you put the book on, but the cover conceals the metal. So it looks like it's floating.

  • :O That's magical!

  • "Turn...TURN...TURN!" *blows air frantically* YES! lol

  • Oh God! I thought that was the Yeti! Before the conversation began...

  • OMG what about a bookshelf...on the...CEILING (is that spelled right)

  • i before e except after c. unless its a word that the english language ignores and just fucks up to piss off immigrants trying to memorize all of the words and the patterns they follow, then \having to memorize each one that is an "exception"...

  • .... "i before e except after c, or when sounding like a as in neighbor or weigh." duh. =)

duh not meaning to hold any negativity. just a friendly, smiley duh.

  • so what about the word "weird"?

  • it halfway works, if you say it slowly. ;p

i'm sure there are exceptions, but there can't be THAT many.

  • so many books. yumm.

  • 1) I love Maureen Johnson because she is a hilarious and awesome author.

    2) I love Maureen Johnson because her name is the same as that of a character in RENT, and since I am RENThead, these things CONNECT WITH EACH OTHER.

    3) You, John, are awesome. As always. Just checking in.

  • The Day Nobobdy Shared..... in your pants"

    Oh my. XD

I like used book stores, but I kinda hate libraries. They never have anything good.

  • "They throw a sharing party"

    ...In your pants...

  • 43. oh dear god. "the day nobody shared." thats sooo bad... but hilarious.

Why on earth do you have that little kid book?

  • The real question is, HOW LONG has he had it...hopefully he didn't buy it TO recently.

  • Bookshelves are cheap? Awesome! I have a rickety old bookshelf and I have NO space for any more books :( It's so tragedies..

  • I would so buy ebooks for wii.

  • I'm not allowed to buy books anymore!!! :'( AND, we don't have a library in my town worth mentioning :'( AND, I cannot find a used book store so that I can trade some old books in for "new" one! :'(

    Stupid "save money" idea!

  • I've got an idea...

    Make a bookshelf...

    Out of BOOKS.

  • haha! They throw a sharing party!

  • The Wii remote would turn my pages if I started reading lol.

  • Libraries are really cool. I dont think authors should angry about people getting their books out of the library. I rather have an audience than making money.

  • Indeed. My mom is an author, and she loves used book stores, too. YAY for used book stores!

WOW>.. The Wii thing was awesome!
