  • Did max just say that he rather be in Fresno?

  • Skullmaster said "...at my master's table". Question is, WHO is Skullmaster's master??

  • One of the few images I ever seen of a black woman being the hero.

  • Very nice at the end with the little monument in Max's yard.

  • This is one of the greatest animated shows ever written. Unfortunately, we will never see such artistry again.

  • they could make a movie out of this episode, by far my favorite episode of mighty max

  • @shadowsonic2 first off, love the name. Secondly, his master is Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris doesn't look for portals. He makes new ones by bending space with a faster-than-light round house kick.

  • The world would be a much better place if more people were this heroic.

  • First episode I watched.

  • Hanuman must feel pretty jipped right now. The others now stand alongside their ancestors and old allies...and he just keeps getting reincarnated until he's himself again and has to be the Hindu gods' errand boy again.

  • 7:00 - Wait...Skullmaster has a MASTER?! What villain is stronger than him?!

  • @Dragonstorm787 Satan, he's usually referred to as a bad guy's "Master" in classical works and stuff.

  • @Dragonstorm787 His name is Skullmastermaster!

  • That was great when Beowulf beat the hell out of Warmonger...great and powerful show all around....

  • Does anyone else still cry during 9:41-10:42? I swear that music sings right to my soul!

  • @CrimesonWitcher Naw, I was only...10 when I watched the show. (6:08 - 6:45 is what got my blood pumpin')

  • skull master and virgil's voice is the same cast as LEGACY OF KAIN.

  • @ThePinoyEagle I'm pretty sure that the voice for Skull master is Tim curry the same actor that played the Prince of Darkness in Legend.

  • "You can't beat Skullmaster, he'll kill you!"

"Yeah? Well. Maybe I'll come back as a butterfly!"

    I always loved that line.

  • Who is Skullmaster's master?

  • Funny, I don't recall Hanuman being a coward.

  • @gyrrakavian He wasn't really a coward. He was more layed back and uncaring but he did fight though not without his legendary staff.

  • Did he go back for the helmets and arrow? Or maybe they just appeared from Hammerspace (to borrow from TV Tropes). XD

I remember this was one of the few episodes of this show I ever watched but it's always been one of my favorites. Not a happy ending but it leaves off with a lot of hope. I always thought the butterfly was a nice touch at the end.

  • Such a beautiful episode. I love how scared Max is--it's so realistic and moving.

  • why is there a cross? was any of these heroes Christian? hanuman is Hinduism, beowulf is Viking Paganism, the shaman is native religion. the african chick?

  • @chrispollock

I can assume Max might be Christian and well, that was his way to show respect to the heroe's sacrifices.

  • @adnelortiz I don't assume he was a Christian, just that pop culture would have him believe that this is how most people show respect. Same as a cross on the site of car crashes.

  • @chrispollock Beowulf is actually confusing, and in the poem itself the poet puts some Christian sentiments and views into the mouth of Beowulf and others, despite the fact that he insists the characters are all pre-Christian pagans.

  • @Smarigdine anytime i hear about a brave norse dude ripping arms off monsters, it sounds really pagan

  • oh sure the native shaman only has his arrow there as a memorial

    and its the back

if your not looking for it you won't see it

  • the greatest cartoon ever

  • as a grown man...i still cries when watching those heroes making their ultimate sacrifice.....this shows is a lot better than most of the current day's educational program....soo much reality and hardship of life hidden within this show =/

  • damn...lave monster...you scare me @@

  • Even in death, did this episode push up our emotional walls, speaking to us about races, cultures and even religion the cross at the end. Wow how pathetic did our cartoons get you wouldnt even be allowed to show a tenth of this now adays R.I.P heroes :)

  • awesome episode! what a way to incorporate philosophy, spirituality and racial unity all in one episode! times have truly changed the cartoon now suck donkey balls this is what i remember waking up to in the morning before school

  • This was a great show that I wish would come to to dvd or a least become available for download on itunes or XBLA and PSN. The end of this episode was pretty good and definitely one of the few cartoons in the 90's that wasn't afraid to end an episode, much less its first season, on something of a bittersweet ending.

  • Why can't shows today have great music like this?

  • Best Episode ever

  • toonami from CN had great shows that taught me morals but remember watching this when i was 6, and kid shows like this teach great things to face.

  • I'm sorry, but that was a bs ending.

  • MIghty Max was a cartoon that was not for everyone it taught a lession that death is a part of life and showed that the good guy doesnt always find a way to cheat death in the end,a hard lession to swallow for many.

  • This is one of my favorite episodes in the series, even though the ending made me cry.

  • @NadisAten

I know it was very sad. =(

All the heros died at the end.

  • i cant believe they just let em all die

  • Skull Master's voice actor is great.

That is such a sad episode...

  • Gotta love Tim Curry

  • Great episode!!

  • "Enjoy the few seconds of life which remain to you. I will teach you a thousand subtle shades of pain. A hundred ways to die. Unitl I finally lay your lifeless body at my master's table."

I wish I could find the writers of this show and shake thier hand.

  • Jesus, I found myself crying at the bit at then end with the butterfly.

  • I keep calling Norman "Brock Sampson" by mistake, hahaha

  • Poor Hannuman. He was the most reluctant of the group, but was the most heroic in the end.

  • I'm sorry but, I'm a let you finish but. Mighty max had the hardest episode of all time!

  • Hanuman's death was a shame. The only event that truly stuck with me was Norman's death at the last episode by the spider. That blowed.

  • i never saw this 1 bfore

  • awesome episode I remember when it aired the image of Hanuman's crushed helmet has stayed with me since I was a kid. and the image of the butterfly at the end. powerful stuff. one of the best shows ever.

  • They need to make a full actual feature film of mighty max and have skull master as the main villian cause you wont see cartoons like this never again!

  • and it needs to be animated! with some great guitar work and no stupid nu metal stuff. kids were just plain smarter in the 90s.

  • "let me show you a little trick I once taught a guy named Grendel"

The crowd hears a snap XD. Epic win love the beowulf saga

  • It never fails, everytime I watch this episode I get teary-eyed--I agree with what some have said already, this episode really is an emotional one. Though what gets me, is in the next episode Max wants to be rid of being the Mighty One--after what he just went through I thought he figured he had no choice. Either way, great great show!

  • the bit when skullmaster says "until i finally lay your lifeless body at my master's table" at 7.00 -- pretty mysterious! who is skullmaster's master??

  • the devil

  • @AntEtches That's what I want to know!

  • When Frank Miller was a child, his parents took him to see 300 Spartans. That was when he learned what it is to be a true hero. To be willing to sacrifice your own life for the lives of others with no thought of recompense. That is true courage.

As a kid, this cartoon, and especially this episode, did the same for me.

There are no cartoons anymore that show the characters willing to go the final mile for what's right.

We may never see the like of this show again. But I still hope.

  • @Warborn13

These are on youtube, so we can show them to kids even now.

  • This was quite the emotional rollercoaster for a child as well as the audience 5^s

  • If Beowulf was killed by a dragon how is he alive to help max?

  • Comment removed

  • What I love about this episode is that Max is scared. The writer's really put a lot of thought about how emotional this would be for a kid. It's also so dark. You would never find that in a cartoon today.

  • @tiki98 Reminds me of the animorphs series. A bunch of kids forced to be heroes, they would have similar break downs like this. But it really instilled the idea of doing what you have to for the greater good. Even if your mind suffers.

  • Beowulf, Sun Wukong, Jonyaiyin and Modjadji. That's quite a nice list. They toned down Sun a lot though.

  • Correction on my part, they used the Hindu version that Sun Wukong was based on. Hanuman not Mei Houwang. My bad to those who read the previous comment.

  • This was the greatest TV program ever

  • Eh, it was a decent show but I'm not seeing anything as good as episode 05. Something like Gargoyles is much better

  • Probably one of the best last stand moments in a cartoon Series.

    R.I.P.

    Beowulf

    Yonayayi

    Hannuman

    Mujaji

    A great set of heros

  • Skullmaster has the coolest sword

  • Who is Skullmaster's master?

  • I was wondering the same thing. I was under the impression that Skullmaster was self-employed.

  • So was I. Curious.

  • I also wanted to say Rip too all fallen hero real or fake

    Balewolf

    Yonayayi

    Hannuman

    Mujaji

  • R.I.P

    Balewolf

    Yonayayi

    Hannuman

    Mujaji

    Such a sad episode.

  • Skullmaster's voice (Tim Curry) & dialogue are always so good -- I wish Skullmaster spoke in more episodes.

  • dude hanuman's the most badass character on this episode.

  • at 9:07 does he say "C'mon everyone, climb the fuck outta here!"?!? O_O

  • No, it's "c'mon everybody, time to book outta here"

  • you're right but lol it really did sound like it to me

  • the best episode.

  • You do not see cartoons like this anymore. This show was classic

  • If it's not one evil, then it's another - that's a line that I'll NEVER forget as long as I live!!

  • LOL Beowulf is awesome, "Silly fella! Let me show you a little trick I once taught a guy named Grendel!" hahahahaha

  • WOW man I remember this episode from when I was a kid don't laugh but I remember crying. This episode always reminded me of self-sacrifice and giving

  • haha, I love Beowulf =D

  • that monkey is awesome

  • LOL that crab is weak as hell..one little arrow to that hard exoskeleton of his

  • Hahaha! I can barely understand what Beowulf is saying. This show was AWESOME!

  • This has to be my favorite episode. It's the only one i distinctly remember

  • Yeah i love this one. Heroes thats what i we all need, or ispire to be. Who says T.V. rots your brain? It depends on what you watch. Shows like this gives you life lessons, but this show is one of many. Watching this makes me feel like I'm fifteen again lol.

  • todays modern cartoons rot your brain, they have no moral value like classics

  • You can say that again. The 90s had the best cartoons of all, even better than the 80s. From the way I see it, alot of 90s shows seemed to have more life lessons than any other cartoon era.

  • Epic ending... No wonder I watched this cartoon back in the 90s...

  • Anyone else notice then the monkey king says "Stay on the highground, let the other guy do the work for you" well, he doesn't say the second part, Max is having made-up flashbacks =D

  • skullamster is such an asshole!!

  • This is the only episode of "Mighty Max" I distinctly remember. Even like 15 years later I remember the Magnificent Seven and how they traveled into the jaws of death to face Skullmaster. So glad I found this to take me back to my childhood.

  • i love this show. I used to watch it every morning before school.

  • how can someone forget this.maybe the best cartoon ever.

  • Beowulf: "Let me show you a trick I once taught a guy named Grendel." *ripping sound*

LOL omg! I'm guessing he rips the guy's arm off

  • man what an awesome episode

  • Warmonger's out for the rest of this episode (the season finale) but he's healed again 4 next time.

  • "Enter and die" haha this show is the best. /m/

  • This was a great series!

  • The ending to this episode was definitely the most bittersweet.

  • Very true.

  • You won't see that much today. No room for it when everything is giggleing and barfing.

  • and farting

  • yeeesssss he finally lands on his feet

  • the butterfly at the end was what really did it for me when i was young

  • Yeah me too!!!

  • Beats a tapeworm....

  • is it my imagination or when beowulf grabs warmonger he has his helmet on but when he turns around while holding warmonger hes without it?

  • Good God! You're right!

  • Your right.. lol got to love it

  • pac man ghosts came out uf the crystal lol

  • That ape guy is a paedo

  • Mujaji! I cracked up everytime Norman said that! XD Max finally lands perfectly when exiting a portal!

  • lolol

  • 0h noez. teh G!@n+ eNeMy Kr@85!

  • "We'll make it somehow. If not, I'll see you in Valhalla."

;_; Definitely one of the best episodes.

  • this was the best cartoon ever. the 90's definately were the best era for cartoons in my opinion. now adays its just anime cartoons that make no sense at all. back then cartoons actually taught you something or gave you a life lesson but were still entertaining and appealing to kids. mighty max was dope like heroin!!!

  • and you didnt aktually have to be high to enjoy it

  • this episode made me so sad every time i watched it as a kid. i must've been about 11 years old.

  • Oh, Brave One. Be Good.

  • "Go, brave one"

  • damn i wish television was like it was back then i must have been like 10 years old back then... i reember this episode made me cry... cartoons are now trash i feel sorry for this new generation... back then cartoons taught u something about life, today they don't teach u shit... i think its a conspiracy or somethin... these new cartoons seem to make the youth more ignorant and dumb... thanks arsenal many props for this one...

  • Hmm, me thinks that Mujaji and Norman may have been more than just on warrior terms? Hehe, one of the best episodes of MM for sure!!

  • I don't remember the show being this deep. Why don't they make cartoons like this anymore?! This show had some of the harsh realities of life and some of the most touching moments I've seen on TV. I wish cartoons could be more like this NOW.

  • Wonderful episode, thank you so much for posting it! My favorite cartoon, not even Family Guy (another favorite) can compare, and my favorite episode!

  • man out of all the hero's advice, Normans is by FAR the best, "...AND NEVER STOP FIGHTING!"

  • Good lord, I haven't seen this episode (or series) for years but I could still vividly remember Hanuman dying. This episode scarred me for life, then. I love TV.

  • 1of my favorites

  • I'm surprised Max actually landed on his feet when he exited the portal, while doing a flip.

  • pretty impressive landing!

  • his first one he did right

  • This was one of the best episodes, kinda sad when hanuman died

  • this is so cool, i love this epiosde.

  • Man, awesome episode. Seems like Norman's voice actor liked saying "Mujaji!" Thanks for the upload, Arsenal!

  • Gah, I miss the part 1. Where's it?

  • This was always my favorite Mighty Max episode. Thanks a lot for uploading it.

  • This was an awsome episode, thanks arsenal

  • i meant how did max get beowulf helmet and mujajis etc

  • how did he get that helmet beowulf?and mujaji spear.i kno he had yona arrow and hans helmet

  • Max's leap at the climax was one of my favorite moments of this series, and it is wonderful to see it again. Thank you for posting this.

  • think the episode with the arcade game has cyber skull in it. don't remember the name of the episode :(

  • That Ep's called Cyberskull Virus

  • lol there you go. thanks :)

  • awww that was so sad, and then a butterfly lands on his helmet :{

  • awesome visual. timecode 9:59

  • the devil commands the dead and lives in hell under the earth, isnt that what skullmaster does or was

  • Well I dunno. His alluded-to Master is never seen in the series; I jst figured it was put in the script to make his dialogue cooler and more eerie. He doesn't serve another sorceror or anything, so I would assume its some kind of entity in the vein of an evil spirit or devil. I don't think Skullmaster is supposed to be the Mighty Max's universe's devil.

  • Whats the name of the episode where max fights a villian from a video game? oh, and the one where he fights shiva? when will these be uploaded?

  • who's skullmasters master

  • I always figured it was the devil.

  • I Agree. I think it is as well.

  • i like how skullmaster stalks mighty max in the shadows its kinda creepy

  • Is series 2 - Pandora's Box etc. - going to come?

  • Yes, don't worry :)

  • great episode
