  • RIDE ON

  • DUANE WILL LOVE U ANYWAY. LOVE

  • Y DID YOU TELL ON YOUR BLOOD? JESUS FORGIVES

  • If I had just one more silver dollar, I'd buy this tune on iTunes (and get a penny change)

  • @MrJerryWallace the dude in the sunglasses is Johnny Neal. He was on the "Seven Turns" album then left the band. He mostly played keyboards with the Brothers. He's also blind, hence the shades I guess.

  • why disable embedding. Fuck you

  • @SmoothJohnson - How could I possibly deny such a polite request?

  • Fucking great tune!! The Allman Bros at their best!!

  • wow never seen this one cool

  • who's the dude in the sunglasses?

  • @eliotross ?

  • Is the volume low....

  • i wonder if sexualpanda ever played live anywhere in his life other than on youtube comments section....total loser.

  • YOU NEVER GET TIRED

  • aaah i wish this was hd :( it rocks anyway tho

  • dickey betts damn what a southern guitar player . just damn good

  • This is by far my all time fave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it and thank u for posting

  • blues was born -

  • I'm flabbergasted! This is a classic given a beautiful acoustic reading here.

The ABB are phenomenal musicians. Warren Haynes sure deserves extra accolade.

  • One of the best song written.

  • ugh they suck live

  • @SexualPanda918 maybe u think auto-tuner music is better then? In my opinion the ORIGINAL artist can't possibly mess it up, cause it's theirs to begin with. I think it's great.

  • Another great Allman Brothers classic

  • There aint nothing like a simple little acoustic jam session:)

  • Warren Haynes!!

  • @eliotross

    What do you mean?

  • Great video. One thing on these comments: just because new popular music sucks (for the most part) doesn't mean all new music sucks.

  • Dickie was nasty on this one

  • Greg, Dicky, Warren.....who was the 4th dude? I think I saw this tour...just seen them in AC last year and couple weeks ago at the Beacon NYC....they still rock!

  • complete perfection iam from northern wisconsin and nothing beats southern rock

  • Fuck Yes!

  • Beyond adjectives adequate to praise: music today is dead, my friends. *listen* to this and remember & weep...........

  • Wow people actually disliked this song.....

  • Sure gotta admire the quality of a song seasoned and perfected here, uplifts my hearts ,both of em.

  • Warren Haynes in this as well, a very young Warren Haynes!

  • great song but the sound sucks

  • Dickie Betts and that red guitar. Gregg Allman disrespected Duane here. Far too fucked up. I saw them at the Fillemore East with Duane when I was 12. Too late to see Derek and The Dominoes. Been trying to play that slide like that ever since.

  • loving it

  • Love this song. It is everlasting.

  • All I can say is THIS IS WHEN MUSIC HAD REAL SOUL!! You can hear it with every note played. This is genius!!

  • If you love this sound and wish there were more like it these days You Must Check Out Josh Langston from Texas. Younger guy that has an old soul and should have been around during the prime of the Allman Brothers. LOve Love this video!! Thank you for sharing.

  • just what the doctor ordered...

  • yes y'all. this bassmon, give schills, none cannever truely hear it here. have 2 b

  • yes y'all. this bassmon, give schills

  • yes y'all

  • man his voice is rockin! they do not make voices like this any more i shit you not!

  • we dig Greg Allman on adreambeach!

  • Scooter Herring reportedly once saved Gregg's life from an overdose with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. how did allman repay him? by ratting on him to a grand jury which ended eventually in a trial sending scooter to jail for 10 years....nice gregg....you rat.

  • @aquaskye no shit thats dissapointing i saved a junkies life once only to ripped off by the prick

  • LOVE ALL THESE GUYS BUT~The best guitarist of all (in my humble opinion) Warren Haynes is on the far left but he didn't even get a mention....This is right about the time Warren & Allen Woody left the ABB and formed Government Mule.

  • @mustangTNT thats just how it goes.....but you should be stoked enough that hes along side all time greats like gregg and dick

  • @drewmfuller I AM "stoked" (VERY thankful) that Warren Haynes was able to join ABB and play along with all the greats (and still is). Like I said - "LOVE ALL THESE GUYS" - Just noticed that his name was omitted...no harm, no foul...didn't mean to take any glory away from Gregg & Dick, only want Warren to get his glory too. Just like with religion & politics, I'm gonna have to quit giving my opinions on MUSIC~never would've believed it...

  • 1:18 bad-ass solo. That sounds so fucking sweet. I feel honored, just be able to listen to this.

  • does not get any fucking better than this! Damn!

  • WTF Allmanbrothers without Dickey Betts

  • Dickey!

  • Every once in a while there is a great song written AND performed by the right artist. This was one of them. Great song. No cover has ever come close to capturing the feeling of Greg Allman.

    One of my favorite songs.

  • Dickey is amazing. They have to play together again!

  • Dickey Betts is my uncles cousin

  • •wives

  • 1 of my uncles ex wides uncle played in this band

  • gibson.. great

  • gotta love the southren rock moved to texas when i was 19 and it got in my blood love that southern sound

  • One of the greatest songs, done by one of THE greatest bands, EVER!

  • Wow , do you hear that man's voice? That is a true wonder of nature.

  • Now if we can just get Dickey and Gregg to settle their beef and sit down like this again...

  • i was here 5-8-2010

  • Saw Greg in New Orleans about 15 years ago. What a time! Went to dinner for a very satisfying recipe of gumbo before the show. What a time! Interesting as well was that a cop picked up my friend and I not to harrass us but to give us a ride home, well-- to her home. What a time!

  • BADD ASS!!!

  • ton of tallent here

  • Man, that was good !

  • It just does not get any better than that! AWESOME!!

  • Awesome Dicky Betts

  • The last time I saw Greg was in Greensboro, NC maybe 1982.

Just stoned enough to enjoy the music the very best way.

    CLB

  • this bass player is scarier than my husband

  • Greatest. video. ever.

  • @PapaLeoNL

    times infinity.

  • one year and 13 days apart;best I remember the end of Oct and the begginning of Nov

  • Sallie is right Duane died in in 1971, he was the bands slide guitarist some would say one of the best ever. A year later just a block away Bassist Barry Oakley was also killed on his motorcycle. After Duane Died orignial member Dickey Bettes (sitting to Gregs right in the vid) took over all guitar to finish Eat A Peach. Warren Haynes joined the band in 1989 to cover guitar work with Betts

  • I think Berry Oakley had an alcohol related death but I'm not sure...

  • i know i could do some research but right now im stoned and cant be bothered which one is dickie betts and which one is duane..if duane is actually there because someone mentioned wayne?? ahh fuck it i dont really care this song is beautiful man, proper song

  • Duane died around 1970 at age 24 in a motorcycle accident. Dickie assumed his spot and is a great guitarist but generally Duane is considered the guitar god of southern rock-blues....... hope your buzz was good..............

  • October 26, 1971

  • October 29,1971 RIP Duane Allman.

  • Warren Haynes was also a competetor. Guy can play some slide

  • if you want proof listen to whipping post and duanes solo is so sweet but dickie steals the show about halfway through

  • this will probably anger some of you...but technically dickie was better than duane...where duane stood out was his blues improv and slide work but dickies bends were so perfect...he shouldve been #3 and duane #4...rolling stone has more issues than they have magazines if you know what i mean...

  • I saw Dickey play live year at a concert. He still plays some really fine guitar. And you are right, his

playing is technically flawless. His son Duane also plays with him.

  • remember when MTV actually played MUSIC?

  • LOL that was a long, LONG time ago. LOL

  • The ABB were one of the first bands to do the unplugged thing on MTV - if not the first - and everybody rushed to do it after they blew open the doors - kinda the story of their musical lives don't chya know... :)

  • I thought he played the Organ.

  • Organs aren't unplugged

  • Someone is playing the organ backstage in this video, you just can't hear it because it's not plugged in.

  • Gregg Allman is a BAD MO'FO' !!!!

  • man i wish that dickey and greg would just get back together for the fans and the music. imagine them again with dickey, greg, derek and warren...

  • F***ing cool!

  • this explains why its so damn hard to play this song by myself haha

  • Oh yeah! Southern Rock in general generally has at the least two guitars of a slide and lead...Allman bros usually 3 or 4.

  • Does anyone know the brand of guitar Dickey Betts is playing?

  • Yes, A Martin 213

  • his acoustic is a alvarez in this video

  • it's a 1929 Gibson he bought in NY

    it's called an L 50 with a National body.

    it is not a Martin

  • Thanks for the info.

  • his acoustic is an alvarez

  • fantastic song!reminds me of my life in the states! wish local governemnts in the US just werent so corrupt. theyve driven me from the place i love. OUTLAW FOREVER!!!!

  • they were cheering the finished solo

  • This looks like the Unplugged sessions...

  • i love how the crowd cheers when Gregg drawls out the melody on "by" in the "I've gone by the point of caring" verse.

  • No Dickey?Get the ROPE!!

  • He's playing the solo at 1:55

  • i remember hearing this song as a young teen. a few years later i bought a greatest hits compilation cd because of this song. i'm now in my early 30s. i'm an latino l.a. (ca) native. much respect to the soul of southern rock and blues.

  • I'm sitting here on the California coast, and I can tell you - there's nothing like these Southern rock boys. They're a treasure. God bless.

  • @NatureGirl62 Me too girl!

  • @NatureGirl62 that's 'cause they got us Southern girls to keep them in line...lol

  • 1 of the great dissapointments was going to see ABB in '93 in Knoxville & Dickie was in rehab...however it was the 1st time I saw Warren...2 1/2 hrs w/ his own band (pre Mule) & 3 hrs. w/ the Brothers....a bottle of peach brandy & a blue cloud for all!!!

  • that's just about the coolest thing I've ever seen. ....How old was Warren here? 30?

  • The original as I recall was in Bb or even a Bb tuning I used to know...

  • Dickey is so underated.

  • It hurts me to say this, but The Allman Brothers Band no longer exists. You cannot tell me that they do, not without Dickey Betts anyway. It just aint the same.

  • Agree. No Dickey Betts, no Allman Brothers Band

  • Was it the same after Duane died?

  • Well, you've got a pretty good point there. And no, it wasn't quite the same. But Duane died, he wasn't forced out.

  • Thats the way it goes with bands - sometimes they die, sometimes they are forced out, and sometimes it rains ( a twist of a movie quote). I actually like Greg Allman solo on acoustic guitar as much as I like the group together.

  • It was not the same, but it added to the story and the music. I'll never forget the night coming to my boyfriend's house in 1970 (he was in a band) as he met us at the door and said "Duane Allman died". We all cried that night. Things were never the same, but the rest of the band did a phenomenal job of keeping the sound great. It was just different, that's all I can say.

  • you are exactly right. It was not the same, but still great. Some other groups did not come close after their members died or left: The Doors, Buddy Holly and the Crickets, etc.

  • saw him last night with the great southern and man he is the best guitar player i have ever seen in person

  • @crguitar411

Dickey is the shiznit!!! I've always loved his licks. Great combination of talent within the Allman Brothers Band.

  • @crguitar411 everybody on Youtube is either 'underared' or 'epic'

  • Absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!

    Shivers..........

  • no one has ever, or will ever sound like the Alman Brothers. They are pure genius and one of a kind!

  • I'm jamming here, it's in D where it should be. A nice groove there

  • Love Gregg's voice in this song! Specially when he sings:"And I'm bound...." His soulful choice of notes just blows me away, every single time I listen to it...Love The Allman Brothers Band

  • I know! ive always loved that bit...i also love how the crowd cheers the second aafter he does it

  • wow what a great guitar performance i would love to play with them

  • Dickey Betts most underrated rock guitarist ever!!

  • yeh he is great very fluid and melodic using arpeggios with most listeners never hearing it very nice

  • i think the great strength of allman brothers band has been their dual lead guitar setup... with such outstanding guitarists (both past with Duane and present - Hayes/Trucks etc.) and not to mention DICKEY BETTS !! they've always been forced to step up and do their absolutely best in the presence of their co-lead.

  • his mouth... He's got chew in.. i mean he is from the south..

  • whats up with greg's mouth? lol

  • does anyone know how u get hold of a dvd of this gig?

  • dwhitfield-A 'kick---Rendition ' of the classic song!

  • Still my favorite version of the song, and still looking for the bootleg of this Unplugged show that I saw in a cd shop years ago

  • makes the South seem kind of a cool place...

  • Y'all come and visit us sometime; ya hear?

  • did Greg just have tooth surgery?

  • Fuckin' everly brothers signature J180!!!!

  • MAN I wish I could find this version on CD!!!
