when i convert videos with handbrake the first 6 seconds of the video screw up and are a completely different colour such as most of the colour is white. i can send you a video if you want

@SLIPKNOTROCKZX for straight ripping I use DVDFAb HD Decrypter. I'm not sure Handbrake can rip DVDs with copyprotection ... which is most of them. Best to use DVDFab to rip and then simply burn the files as a DVD Video using Nero or something like that. Take a look at my video on ripping with DVDFab HD. It's free !

it takes 2 hrs. to scan and 6 hrs. to rip it. then when i play it, i only have the sound.

Hi Nikkin07,

I just used handbook to rip a dvd onto itunes. The problems is, when I play it in itunes, it plays the last scene first, and plays the movie scene by scene backwards. Is there anything I can do get get it to play correctly?

Handbrake is for ripping the dvd to any format you want and to watch them you would use the VLC player :-)

let me ask you something about the userflow of handbrake with subtitles.

Im trying to add subtitles for encoding a readable video format/subtitles in ps3, but allthoug i think i add my srt file in the propper way i always get a video with subtitles disabled,...

i add the srt in the track subtitles area, and check on "forced only" and "default" but when i go with it and play the videofile (m4v extension) the video is amazing but the subtitles doesnt exist

you should make a demo of burning a .avi file to a dvd so it will work in a dvd player. i've been having some trouble with that

I dont use handbrake to go from avi to dvd( and I dont think that handbrake does that) i use another program which is out of date and they dont make it anymore it is called VisualHub so sorry I will see if i can find something else for you.

You might.....i really don't know, but I have the program VLC on my mac and that might be the reason it doesn't ask me.

Does anyone know what Handbrake settings are the best for producing high quality DVD rips that amount to less than 1GB? Currently I

* Set Anamorphic to "None"

* Set Video Codec to "MPEG-4 XviD"

* Set Framerate to "25"

* Set Avg Bitrate to "2500" (or thereabouts)

But the file, while quite good quality, is never as good as most of the DVD rips who regularly find on torrents that are about 700-800MB.

Can someone please explain what settings are best to convert DVDs to AVIs? Thanks!

on the desktop...without even using handbrake its there?,,,also does it take long to rip a dvd?..mines took 1 hour and still only half way done..i have snow leopard 10.6,,,,any difference?

I think I know what your problem might be.....if you run it straight from the .dmg then you get the like think that looks like a external drive. What I do it open the .dmg file of Handbrake and just drag the Handbrake app into your Application folder and you should not get that problem. Hope that helps if you have any other question let me know.
