  • tech 9 goes hard as fuck, he has like 3 million different flows

  • backpackers and hypebeasts killed underground hip hop

  • IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE

  • i need dese niggas talkin bout me

  • Underground is about not giving a fuck about getting radio play or a club hit uncompromising. Real hip hop heads can tell the difference with ease

  • Fuck young money cash money there all fucking weak.... Both Technizzies and kendrick lamar are fucking ill

  • Some rappers, like tech n9ne, have gangs of people or literally gangs behind them to push their music, get it heard word of mouth because he's calling out their names or the name of the cliques.

  • lol its because Tech n9ne is better than everyone in mainstream. gotta lol at the butt hurt "people"

  • @Cianoliza what define as mainstream ?

  • In m opinion, I think because they're are so many artists out today , it constantly becomes difficult to define :'UNDERGROUND' artists( no disrespect) have been brainwashed to think LABELS… Underground means Free from restrictions from these demanding labels.. but just because you're mainstream doesn't mean you aren't an artists, so I guess it goes both ways...

  • Underground = not really known, thats it

Tech N9ne, he's not underground, he's only independent

  • underground is just what it is underground

  • When people say "what about Tupac, Biggie, etc. They were mainstream." It's true, they were. But that's when hip-hop was actually good and the mainstream wasn't all about money. They were amazing lyricists, plain and simple. And the way I see underground; talented rappers who are below the radar and haven't received the limelight yet. But the defining moment in their career is what they do once they reach that point. They can get caught in the mainstream, or be the artist they've always been.

  • Underground Mc's = Rappers who can exactly spit

  • @XHeavenlyNightStarX that is just not true

  • Word, make music YOUR music not theirs

  • "We have the tools... we have the Technology... we can rebuild him" 3:31

  • is immortal technique puerto rican...

  • @Godsprimechoice nah he's peruvian

  • I meant to say freedom of speech lol

  • Underground is freedom. No restrictions, freedom of sprech and creativity.

  • in my humble opinion, underground aint about the money youre making, its the music. theres an underground feel to songs.. sometimes grimey/dirty other times its positive/enlightening.. bottom line, if your music is authentic [or at least seems authentic] and real.. then you're underground.. youre writing what you wanna write, saying what you wanna say. labels dont give you that creative freedom - period.

and finally jump off talk about real artists like Immortal tech and tech9.. its about time!

  • mcs gotta do it for themselves, use whatever mediums u can to speak to people... f*ck the majors!

  • Things have certainly changed since the '90s. Don't forget the net has had a hand in the state of the game as well.

  • Very cool segment.

  • underground means your state of popularity it has nothing to do with skill level

  • Underground just means they're not on big TV or radio normally.

  • hiphop is too big to have undergroud. Internet has opened hiphop up. underground were artists that were not sold on radio but radio is not the only media to push music any more.

  • techn9ne?

  • You guys should speak on ASAP ROCKY, 3 million $ deal, will he live up to the hype? is he bringing NY back, souther influence etc.

  • TECH N9NE DESERVES A DICKRIDE OR TWO WTF

  • Funny thing about it is, not to many of the guy's on the surface are "MC's" they're just rappers. Remember anyone can be a rapper, any one with a third of a brain can be a rapper but, it takes great skill, lyrical dexterity, flow versatility, a sharp delivery, a high vernacular and, a in depth vocab to be an MCEE. Immense fatal lyrical skills is whats missing from the suface nowadays. It's just a bunch of cotton candy bubble gum cookie dough rappers. No Hip-Hop and no MC's. Just rap and rappers.

  • Curren$y would have to fit in this group. Dude continues to remain underground and makes a lot of money touring while signing people he feels continue to get slept on. (Smoke DZA, Sir Michael Rocks of the Cool Kids, Fiend and members of his group). I'm not sure what Evidence, Fashawn and Kendrick Lamar's deals are like but I hope he reaches out to them.

  • @Fcobra04 kedrick lamar is one of those rare dudes that is underground that everyone knows about because the biggest stars like drake dr dre and every one co sign him

  • How are Tech N9ne and Immortal Technique making more than Mainstream artists? They aint selling millions

  • @DJBlack909

How many people got thier hands in "mainstream" artists pockets though? when you are an indie artists with your own label more of the money goes to you..not that guy in a suit who doesnt care about music.

mainstream artists can make as little as $1 on a record sale (think vanilla Ice lol) where Indie can bring 8 to 9 dollars

no matter how you slice it with record sales and number of fans indie makes more if they got a crowd of fans

look at ICP ( i know, i know)

  • @DJBlack909 easy when the checks come in they dont have to split there money with the label bosses producers all the people that work for the label tech n9ne makes ALL his money back meanwhile someone like drake has to split his money with lil wayne and birdman .. thats why people like jay-z has been so successful and rich because he has never been under anybody he the only styricly rapper at the top of forbes the next people in line are non rappers more of label owners birdman diddy etc

  • @dmdpro5 360 Deal, huh? Explain

  • @DJBlack909 A 360 deal is when the label gets a cut of everything you do besides selling records. Touring, merchandise, endorsements, they get a cut of all that shit. In the past the label only got their money from record sales and everything else you got to keep all of it. 360 deals are the normal deal in the record industry now. If you really want to do this music shit, you need to read up about the business side of the industry.

  • vale u you so much better without all that makeup

  • YEA BOI TECHANINA TECHANINA

  • mf doom is the king of the underground

  • i hate those silly edits after every half sentence

  • I fully agree with you guys on this I'm a Indy Artist and yeah it's hard and I have to push my music hard. But I feel good about what I do and how I do it, I feel successful now I don't have the big money but I'm doing it my way.

  • Being indy hard to get known. U got to go hard

  • Nothing is worst than being famous and broke. A lot of the rappers people think are not broke are in debt up to their necks. The thing about being independent is everything you achieve is a win. If you sell 50,000 copies that's a big win. If you do that on a major, your ass is getting dropped. When LowKey said it was a risk, It's only a risk to people that can't get hot independently. Being on a major can make you famous but it's a good chance it won't make you rich.

  • Is Tech N9ne really an independent rapper when he's writing songs about hennessy and sprite?

  • Underground is raw flow sick style far from the bling bling fake thug its a passion not jus a hobbies like the garbage ish u here its UN sign emcees that don't sell there soul for a deal

  • The underground is about following your heart. Not settling for crumbs and getting full meals. The underground is about making artistry your first priority then reaping the fruits of you labor later. Whether you call it Independent or Underground it is about being in the business of music not the music business. PEACE LUV and SOOOOOUUUULLL

  • I think this was summed up easily by this statement: underground has been replaced by independent. There can always be an underground sound, but I don't think we can say there's underground artists anymore because the internet can make anyone visible outside of your hometown. At least that's how I view it.

  • if they're on mainstream media they're mainstream, it doesn't matter about how much money they make

  • underground means not talkin bout pussy and money there.. underground speaks about troubles compare the lyricism of mainstream and underground

  • That ain't true buddy. I could list you loads of underground rappers who like to talk money, pussy and guns.

  • @dejavu1328 bullshit you can talk about drugs and pussy all day and be underground

  • @dejavu1328 So what do you call J Cole? What do you call Tupac, Biggie, or better yet, Jadakiss? They're "so-called" mainstream but they rap about real shit, troubles, etc.

  • @dejavu1328 not really you can still rap about that shit and still be underground.....underground is pretty much independent artists who areant being controlled by major labels.....most kids think you have to have a certain sound and style to be considered "underground"....but isnt it the same with mainstream rappers? everyone in mainstream is trying to sound like drake....alot of underground rappers do the "mystical lord of the rings wizard raps" and how many syllables they can rhyme...whack!

  • @dejavu1328 ehhhh kinda... not really.... eminem isn't underground

  • Respond to this video... i think if its truly underground.... you can't really have "made it" at least not all the way

  • @dejavu1328 Or bragging about your arrest history. Underground hip hop is about creativity.

  • @dejavu1328 too Be Honest Man I Started Rappin About Pussy and All That Shit But then I Found Out That I Didn't Feel the Heart of an MC I Didn't Feel Successful at all So I Moved to Underground and Looking at undeground make me think wow This Is Real Hip Hop I Should've Slapped myself when I was Younger and Now I Rap About Real Shit Deleted All Mainstream off my ipod and Put Underground and Real Shit one it. I Agree With your words Bro!

  • recently became a Tech N9ne fan, and i LOVE his music. TRUE HIP HOP

  • They dickriding tech n9ne pretty hard today

  • @DoubleAIV Tech n9ne deserves it. One of the best rappers around

  • @DoubleAIV man deserves a dickride or two.. all his albums have substance, emotion, connection with the listener..

i would much rather pay 100 bucks to see tech give his fans 100%, then pay $20 to have Lil Wayne drag his sad ass on stage and mumble some crap about his money, tats, or shit i dont care about. and when Tech gets on a track with someone they have to step thier game up... shit wayne had to make the tech/andre track an interlude....boy couldnt keep up with them. Tech is the future.

  • @DoubleAIV dickridin? they jus tellin the truth. all respect to TECHN9NE

  • @DoubleAIV i clicked on this niggas name and hes all over 50 and loyds dick

  • @DoubleAIV Don't think its dickriding, so much as its a great example of how getting airplay on MTV, nominated for a VMA , or performing at the Grammy's isn't the only way to measure/achieve success in the rap game. Especially now a days with the internet and social networking sites. I remember Ice Cube said that he'd like to tell all upcoming artist that YOU are the record deal. YOU are your own brand. And Tech-9's success is a testament to that.

  • Even though you just talked about it in this Vid...You guys should do another debate about the Pro & Cons of Independent/Major Labels

  • Tech N9ne is the most talented rapper in the game

  • @JoeKnowsBo3416 I cannot agree more... I listen to a constant stream of underground artist from all genres... (Yes even country)... I must say Tech N9ne and his Strange Music crew have old school talent with a delivery that is unmatched in style.

  • <~~~~~ UNDERGROUND MC

  • Great debates...love em. Love you guys! Keep up the GREAT work. Been watching JumpOffTV for a minute, now i'm officially a fan. Hope you all continue to grow and reach more people.....dope show. Young, black(mostly), educated and entertaining....gotta love it!

  • One of the few debates I loved from beginning to end.

  • This talk was one of the best they have done! Solid and sophisticated points and one of the few times that everyone actually agreed on the topic! Good shit

  • underground emcee aka broke rappers. they were all underground at some point. check out my girl iggy azalae out. i don't want her to be undergroung (broke lol). that pretty bitch has swag...

  • FUCKS WIT IT...PRECIATE THE KNOWLEDGE YALL

  • @ trav11193 stop sucking dick

  • big dude always speaks the truth

  • Damn until I saw this, I didn't know Tech N9ne had it like that.

  • Comment removed

  • That is encouragement... Tech 9 really just took advantage of a open market with sum investors in a country where dont know if u wack or not they j oi s lik the culture of it

  • And I mean as a collective like mechantdise,touring,album sale,etc

  • i mean that's close to 20 million dollars tech got from that album lol

  • Immortal Technique is DA BEST

  • yea tech is dope, one of is albums i think killer or the one before that sold a million copies fucking independantly, that close to 20 million get got from that money, that's alot of fucking money

  • theres no such thing as a mainstream rapper these days.just pop artists like weezy.

  • Immortal technique is da best....he is the definition of underground

  • basically Back Pack Rappers = underground

  • Yeah tech nine is a definition of an underground artist...Still don't like his music or him as a rapper...at all. But he the definition.
