  • Why is everyone flaming David in the comments?

  • People wanting to move away from Windows machines so they buy a Mac, so they can run windows, LOL I just don' Understand that, If your having computing problems, windows OS is the problem!

  • "ummm" lol, I would count how many times this is said but I'm not that bored.

  • Hmm I dont mind if what I get a Mac or windows but there (in my eyes) is two majure differences the first

1, the price tag, most people cant afford a mac so the opt for a Windows machine that can sometime be a 1/4 off the price

2, Mac may be a better system but the OS is onyl on the MAC and not say a dell or such. But windows is on Dell, HP e.c.t

so really they are bothe equall its really personal preference which you get and if you have the money

  • no, u r the dumb ass. boot camp lets u install the operating system on a partition of the hard drive, and then u can boot from that and run windows NATIVELY using all of the hardware fully, as if the mac were a normal pc. parallels and vmware are more like 'emulators'

  • Your Myspace link takes me to "Michael [no last name]"

  • i remember when david was like this and not a youtube star and for some reason i just really preferred him back then i mean i just really miss the geek updates and videos like that it just seems like david went away from all of his tech videos and just does family videos now i mean i like them but i originally subscribed to david in dec. of 06 when all he did were tech videos anyway david you make some great vids.

  • can you build a mac? i mean like get your own case, processor, video card, etc

  • i've thought about that too

  • *Sigh* No

  • yes you can. there's some motherboards that allow you to run any operating system. And you can install Leopard, Tiger, Etc.

  • stop @ 11 seconds he loooks high

  • lol

  • is there msn for mac? pls reply

  • yes

  • there is msn for mac

  • $30

  • Hey David!

I started watching your video's back when you started with the why get a mac podcast, and i know you stopped for other stuff back then,

    But...

Now you are more well know by the geeks of youtube, maybe continuing the series now would make it even more successful, and i know it had a big audience :) So yeah thought id throw that in there :D

  • I like WOW better on a mac!

  • me 2

  • can all of the PC play on the Mac? because i have LOTS of PC games

  • No, however many games are now made for both mac and PC. The older ones may not work on Mac's platform

  • ok thanks

  • yes most PC games or software can play/run on a Mac if its a Intel Mac (using paralels or using bootcamp to run windows nativly or another peice of software of the like), now PC games cant play on a PPC Mac cause it uses a diffrent CPU (even older dos games can hardly run using dosbox or VPC on a PPC Mac cause its emulating the x86 CPU that is in a PC).

you can however get OS X on a PC (OSx86) that is if the PC has the right combo of chipsets and so on.

  • though u shud also know that OSx86 won't run close to as natively as it does on Mac's. But yeah most games run on macs if u put windows on it.

  • okay, why would you put that? its immature and stupid.

  • it was a comment to someone else and i dont even remember doing it!

  • what is it with PC users always trying to troll around looking for anything Mac related to try and start trouble, its childish and it shows you how immature they are. if someone wants to use a Mac they have the right to do so and no one has the right to judge someone one cause of it. if you want to use a PC your entitled to do so no one has the right to judge you cause of it. who cares if someone uses something you dont like, get over it and get on with your life.

  • this guy seems like he knows what he is doing, he also seems like he know how to answer peoples questions and people are satisfied with the answer he gives.

if you think he is a n00b that is your problem. i would like to see most people (that is saying he is a n00b) do what he is trying to do.

one thing i will comment about is when talking about running bootcamp in OS X you need to make sure you say its for intel Mac's only and will not work on a PPC Macs.

  • I would do like he is doing but people would make fun of me because of my accent

  • naaaa, if you can do something like this do it . there is alway's going to be someone out there to talk badly about the way you do something. ( just not from me cause i was raised better)

  • yea like moldytaoster

  • shut up you whining pc fanboy. garethhallnz kicked your ass

  • i know its funny...david definetly is not a newbie

  • Its funny when people comment and they only have one video posted not even technologicaly related.......cough muchogoocho cough

  • sorry tntproductionsinc. new to youtube so i dont have many videos up. yes ive had the account for a while, just no time for it. just to let you know ive been a certified apple technician for 4 years now and have been on a few software developing teams with adobe.

  • I'm sure someone has already mentioned this, but the world of warcraft cds are hybrid cds, which means they don't need 2 different versions for windows and mac.

  • I think I know what I'm doing here... Not everyone can be right all the time, but don't tell me I am a "newbie." I'm far from a newbie and have been working with computers, Mac and PC, for years now.

  • WTF!!

    This is you tube!!!!!

    GET OVER YOUR SELF.

  • wrong....paralells sucks its the same as virtual pc just a different software title get Crossover Mac runs both partitions of your hd at the same time(mac osx and xp or vista which is death btw) but only small amounts of your windows partition allowing apps to run based on user specification

  • Does it support Trillian?

  • Are you using Isight

  • It's great to see that someone's trying to help people that don't know wether they should buy a Mac or not! Good luck with your podcasts!

  • apple also has plenty or software. i have never had trouble finding apps.

  • i like to see dedicated mac users. macs are amazing.

  • I love the Vids dude. Macs Rule!!!!

  • No one forces you to watch my videos...

  • I know I'm not trying to be mean.. I like the video it's just I knew that stuff

  • Yeh rock on David!!!!

  • why did you watch it if you say it's a waste of time idiot

  • Great Podcasts! I love Macs.

  • paralels is a faster VPC

  • paralels also dont emulate a CPU like VPC does, which makes paralels run faster, also i think it dont emulate the video either like VPC does.

  • sooooooooo cute

  • my name is jorg

  • You didn't even mention iChat in your list of IM applications. I find iChat is the best solution for instant messaging (especially AIM), especially with the level of integration with the OS.

  • iChat AV is also my favorite. The viewer was originally asking about MSN, so that's why I recommended Adium, since it is compatible. iChat only has support for AIM and Jabber.

  • And for people with the questions about running windows apps use Darwine... its not that easy... you need to put in your instal disk and insatal x11 and all that stuff. Darwine is not able to run some windows apps... but its worth a try.

  • Awesome podcast, even if I'm already well versed in how Macs work and know these answers I still enjoy watching it. Thanks for educating people! ;)

By the way, was that kiki, geeky or kinky? You seemed to say it differently every time. :P

  • Thanks. And haha, it's Kiki. =P

  • Hehe :P

  • Hey thanks for answering my question. Great podcast.

  • Ahh, not as good as the last one. Also, Parallels doesnt currently suppport 3D games. However, they have today annouced they are working on it. So just bare that in mind. Also, WWDC is a developers show, so no consumer products would of been annouced other than software. Next show is Paris Expo in September.

  • Thanks for clarifying this. I didn't know Parallels does not support 3D graphics until I read whatt you're talking about. I just saw the article on MacRumors.com today. So I'm sorry if I mislead anyone with that information.

  • As for WWDC and consumer products... I know it's unlikely, but it could happen. It hasn't in a while, but I like to leave the door open for unexcpected products.

So to Jonathan in California who is thinking about purchasing an iMac, I say go for it. We could see an upgrade in September at the Paris Expo wvziccardi mentioned, but you never know with Apple.

  • And to anyone holding off on getting a Mac because they want to wait for Leopard, I suggest not waiting. Apple has said expect Leopard in Spring of 2007, so there is still a ways to go until its release.

    Thanks for the replies!

  • "I'm not a mac genius..."

hahaha! If your not a mac genius, you read everything you say from books...! LOL

Great podcast...not learnt much from this episode, as it didnt contain much of the info im intrested in...But im highly looking forward to the next show! :D :D

    Ashley

  • HaHaHaHa Wonderful Wording.

    BootCamp Is Free.

You Still Need To Buy A Windows License, They Start At $130.

    Nice One

  • Yeah, I totally forgot to mention that. I thought about it after I uploaded this episode.

So for anyone interested in using Boot Camp: You still have to purchase a copy of Windows! If you have already have Windows XP (Service Pack 2), that will work just fine.

    Thanks for the reminder, SoNyne.

  • U forgot to mention crossover which allows u to run windows apps on macs natively but only on intel macs

  • More programs for PC?

    http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/

    ;)

Btw good show and enjoy'n my new Macbook.

    Burke~
