awesome bridge, "call of the wedding band" is probably the best double entendre i've ever heard. awesome, and love the dancing - lincoln is still the best.
I like how there's all this talk in the comments about how so many people are watching this because some guy who talks about Starcraft likes it. I'm pretty sure there are a lot more people just watching it because it's amazing. I'm watching it because I don't want to get out the VCR to watch Direct from Brooklyn.
Sure, they might be windmills, but then again, they might be giants.
Amongst all of their oblique references, cleverness, and bizarre word play this song stands out as straightforwardly morose without being cynical or maudlin.
this is one of the first videos to "introduce" me to the "alternative nation", and 180 minutes of MTV. This song, and video, is truly genius but will never be looked at that way......Can you put a price on two guys that made another guy look at music in a different way. Maybe, if you are only trying to sell albums. TMBG are true artistic geniuses! not lost on this guy......
Honestly, out of any person on this planet, I would be the most starstruck and ecstatic meeting one of the Johns. They have been one of the main sources of happiness in my life. I just can't say enough good things about them. =)
LOL got sent here cause of husky :DDD!! husky is a starcraft 2 commentator. err if you dont know wat that is he basically talks about past games that were played hwile ther playing. lol hopefully that gives ya an answer Shuda7 >.<
@Pinoylegend707 Because TMBG is amazing band. Check out their discography. They're a band worthy of heaps of praise. They were my favorite band for years. They song writing is prolific, diverse, inspired and amazingly creative. Spend some time on youtube checking out their stuff, I think you'll find it pays off.
@murphypeter7 I really don't see what's so great, at least not about this song. The singer sounds stiff and bored even though he shows lots of enthusiasm. The bass is boring and it has way to much mid and treble. No pure musical parts (not even from chorus to verse) or bridges. Is it creative to just let a singer ramble on without him even doing anything impressive or skilled? As I see it, they focus way to much around him and I really can't call this good music. Choirs were allright tho.
@pentagramkrakan I can understand that, I think Linnell's (the singer in this song) is more an acquired taste, whereas the i think the band's co-writer/co-singer Flansbugh has more of a pop friendly voice thats likeable right out of the box.
Try some of these songs, you may find them more to your liking: Lucky ball and chain, the guitar, narrow your eyes, sleeping in the flowers, spy, pet name, and Yeh Yeh. Hope you can find some joy with these songs.

@12al34: Ah, yes, a simple usability request becomes reason to insult. I assume someone uploads a video because they'd like it to be shared, and get the recognition. Yes, I could repost and get his clicks, but I'm not an asshole, unlike Youtube commentors who put their nose in other people's business.
@gogogojira Aye, I was a bit harsh, to put it lightly, but then, why should I feel sorry for telling the lazy fool to get something done, himself? He's asking for something that, in all respects, has already been done for him by someone else, probably. I feel in a bit of a rut though. My recent comments have been a tad more harsh than usual. You are what you present yourself as, they always say. I've made myself out to be a sore ass, in this world of sore asses, like that guy.
@PulsatingFlabbergast They are professional old guys. The drummer worked for Frank Sinatra in the 50s. The bass player has retired from music and currently writes crosswords for the Daily News, and the keyboard guy is an actor.
Ok, I find it hilarious that three people have voted down my "mmmmm, nerds." comment! That's a compliment you sons of a silly person! I utterly ADORE nerds.
