  • They'll need Ukraine, they'll need Ukraine.

  • 11 people think Jim Beam is handsomer than lad

I have been on a Lincoln kick for the past few months, brilliant album!

  • AdventureQuest Worlds !

  • man, i wish i had linells dancing skills

  • @DrRoborapter I love him so much, but no one should dance like that, haha.

  • awesome bridge, "call of the wedding band" is probably the best double entendre i've ever heard. awesome, and love the dancing - lincoln is still the best.

  • They'll need Ukraine...

  • I like how there's all this talk in the comments about how so many people are watching this because some guy who talks about Starcraft likes it. I'm pretty sure there are a lot more people just watching it because it's amazing. I'm watching it because I don't want to get out the VCR to watch Direct from Brooklyn.

Sure, they might be windmills, but then again, they might be giants.

  • Thanks for the upload! One of my alltime favorite TMBG songs!

  • Amongst all of their oblique references, cleverness, and bizarre word play this song stands out as straightforwardly morose without being cynical or maudlin.

  • i love how brilliantly bizarre these guys act in their vids.

  • it took a crane to get them out

  • 11 people didn't need a crane.

  • What exactly will they need this crane for?

  • @FighterGuDude3214

To take the house he built for her apart, duh?

  • @FighterGuDude3214 to mend her heart, duh

  • @frostinad okay, who's husky?

  • @FighterGuDude3214

  • You need to get off of your A.D.D. drugs to follow this song.

  • pause at 2:04

  • what i hate is people who hate TMBG...

  • thx

  • Takes a crane to get them out.

Very few people will get this.

  • Why do most people on youtube hate/ are oblivious to TMBG?

    Hella ignant...

  • 9 people are in need of cranes

  • this is one of the first videos to "introduce" me to the "alternative nation", and 180 minutes of MTV. This song, and video, is truly genius but will never be looked at that way......Can you put a price on two guys that made another guy look at music in a different way. Maybe, if you are only trying to sell albums. TMBG are true artistic geniuses! not lost on this guy......

  • I came

    I saw

    I liked

  • Honestly, out of any person on this planet, I would be the most starstruck and ecstatic meeting one of the Johns. They have been one of the main sources of happiness in my life. I just can't say enough good things about them. =)

  • i would love to see " reprehensible" or "getting sentimental over you" . or hear it hear. thanks, this is also one of my favorites

  • @dauze888: You're joking.

    Please tell me you're joking.

  • @TitaniumGame H- to the -Usky Husky?

  • Awesome song. Good call, Husky

  • this song will get a bajillion views just cuz husky liked it

  • @IdclipPeru And for good reason!

  • We the Husketeers will always follow husky wherever he goes. But why here?

  • @Pinoylegend707 Because TMBG is amazing band. Check out their discography. They're a band worthy of heaps of praise. They were my favorite band for years. They song writing is prolific, diverse, inspired and amazingly creative. Spend some time on youtube checking out their stuff, I think you'll find it pays off.

  • @murphypeter7 I really don't see what's so great, at least not about this song. The singer sounds stiff and bored even though he shows lots of enthusiasm. The bass is boring and it has way to much mid and treble. No pure musical parts (not even from chorus to verse) or bridges. Is it creative to just let a singer ramble on without him even doing anything impressive or skilled? As I see it, they focus way to much around him and I really can't call this good music. Choirs were allright tho.

  • @pentagramkrakan I can understand that, I think Linnell's (the singer in this song) is more an acquired taste, whereas the i think the band's co-writer/co-singer Flansbugh has more of a pop friendly voice thats likeable right out of the box.

Try some of these songs, you may find them more to your liking: Lucky ball and chain, the guitar, narrow your eyes, sleeping in the flowers, spy, pet name, and Yeh Yeh. Hope you can find some joy with these songs.

  • I like it

  • Husky why?

  • @flipaznboy10 Cuz real be recognizing' real

  • wow husky you have terrible taste

  • kinda sound like Terran music at the start lol

  • God dammit, Husky.

  • who else was brought here by Husky?? XP

  • well... husky brought me here... song isn't too bad...

  • wat

  • This Song belongs to the Top 100, eventually Top 10 Songs i´ve ever heard!!!

(I´m 38, I love this song since 20 years and I really keep on listening to new music)

  • great lyrics, nuff said.

  • Oh my god I love this band!!! Beautifully simple and understated

  • I want to be that cool when I'm old.

  • Love the old dudes on the gear =o)

  • theyll need a CRANE,theyll need a CRANE

to pick the house he built for her apart

to make it BREAK,its gonna TAKE.....a metal ball hung from a CHAIN

    theyll need a CRANE,theyll need a CRANE

to pick the broken ruins up AGAIN

to mend her HEART,to help him START,to see a world APART from PAIN

  • They do a lot of free shows in NYC and San Fran... Most of them are hard to get into since they are Standing room only

  • They do a lot of free shows in NYC and San Fran... Most of them are hard to get into since they are Standing room only

  • Please remove the lyrics ... I'd love to post this to Facebook and elsewhere, but the entire lyrics get added to the video, making the post a page long. Maybe just place them in the comments? Thanks.

  • @gogogojira

How about you just download the video using clipnabber, and add the video to your facebook acount? I mean, it isn't like Shuda7 is your bitch, or anything like that.

  • @12al34: Ah, yes, a simple usability request becomes reason to insult. I assume someone uploads a video because they'd like it to be shared, and get the recognition. Yes, I could repost and get his clicks, but I'm not an asshole, unlike Youtube commentors who put their nose in other people's business.

  • @gogogojira Aye, I was a bit harsh, to put it lightly, but then, why should I feel sorry for telling the lazy fool to get something done, himself? He's asking for something that, in all respects, has already been done for him by someone else, probably. I feel in a bit of a rut though. My recent comments have been a tad more harsh than usual. You are what you present yourself as, they always say. I've made myself out to be a sore ass, in this world of sore asses, like that guy.

  • It's hard to believe that John Linnel is 51 years old

  • @tredlow He wasn't then, though. He was in his twenties. Now, he's older than he's ever been and now he's even older...

  • @OchAyetheGNU

Yeah, but I looked at his present day pics, and he still looks pretty young.

  • @OchAyetheGNU lol! TIIIIIIIIIIIME ...... is marching ONNNNNNNNNN!!!!!

  • @PatrickRob82 And tiiiiime....

  • probably my favorite song of theirs. it's so good.

  • Both of the Johns are awesome!

  • I love this song, I never thought I'd here a song about heartbreak with such an upbeat tempo

  • i just love the old people. i LOVE tmbg!!! always b fav band!!

  • you're not the boss of me now

you're not the boss of me now

you're not the boss of me now

    and you're not so big

    ...life is unfair -.-

  • If I ever make a movie I will have all of the old guys in it.

    Who are they, anyway?

    On another note, amazing song.

  • @PulsatingFlabbergast They are professional old guys. The drummer worked for Frank Sinatra in the 50s. The bass player has retired from music and currently writes crosswords for the Daily News, and the keyboard guy is an actor.

  • @Shuda7 jeeezus, you're hardcore.

  • @Shuda7 That is THE GREATEST PROFESSION. I want to grow up and be a Professional Old Guy.

  • If I could be one person in this world besides myself, it would be Linnell

  • You can hear the smiths influence in this song, love the dancing

  • why is it that this song makes me want to cry? i love it. wish more bands wrote music with deeper meanings, like this.

  • @Shuda7 can you please put the lyrics on?

  • sure can do :)

  • I wish i had hair like linnell

  • I love Linnell's weird spazy movements in the videos. He like, flips his hair and he moves all around like he's a stop motion doll.

    TMBG FTW!

  • i know i love his spazy dances :D

  • "I'm just tired, and I don't love you anymore, and there's a restaurant we should check out..."

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Linnell's hair is absolutely amazing? I'd kill for hair like that.

  • *raises hand* I agree, It's really cool.

  • You're not the only one (:

  • I watch this video just to watch John's spasms <3

    TMBGFTW

  • "I didn't mean to say 'nightmare'."

  • omg 0:49 that guy is giving me a creepy look

  • love good ol' johns hair-flinging twitchyness. wuzup with the old dudes?

  • gotta love the python.

    ;)

  • "It's gonna take a metal ball hung from a chain"

That's one of my favourite lyrics. There should always be room for this weird and funny music.

  • Wow these guys were wild when they were younger - now their wildness is children directed in a non- pedophilic way.

  • this video was completely unexpected. . . which should be expected for a TMBG video.

  • mmmmm, nerds.

  • Ok, I find it hilarious that three people have voted down my "mmmmm, nerds." comment! That's a compliment you sons of a silly person! I utterly ADORE nerds.

Nerds are smart, sexy, and they taste good with milk!

John and John ARE nerds. That's why I've loved them for many, many years. =)

  • @sugargoindown You don't know how long I've waited for somebody to say that XD Nerds Rule! <3 TMBG

  • Where the heck were you all my life?

  • I <3 John Linnell in this video (':

Well, 100% of the time too, but in this especially :')

    x

  • this is shot in the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park

  • Man, this song is older than me. I love it but I had no idea it was this old!

  • this is the best video ever.

  • when im his age i will get a haircut just like his

  • Comment removed

  • god john has such a beautiful voice...

  • @HiRoBiRo11 haha. no. just... no.

  • I love this song, I really hope most of my favs are played when I go to one of their concerts in Oct. :D

  • ur lucky....they don't tour around Canada sadly D:

  • @Shuda7 that's because Canada haunts them

  • Dang, the singer was a total spaz... O_O XD

  • which is weird because usually at live shows he's the more introvert of the Johns. I think when it's just him, the crew, and a camera, he's a bit more excitable.

  • How did it happen that this song didn't become just as much of a cult hit as Birdhouse? This song is every bit as catchy, maybe more, and there's actually a story, kind of . . . something you don't always get with TMBG.

  • They don't play this song very often live, the last time they did John Linnel started to cry.

  • did he really? why did he?

  • I guess its a really emotional song for him.

  • listen to the song, it's very relatable and depressing... maybe he wrote it about his own personal experience :/

  • @Shuda7

I read somewhere the song is about one of the john's parents divorce

  • I can see why. The lyrics tell quite a sorrowful tale (one that he probably lived through, or a strong connection to).

  • Comment removed

  • Linnel is like a strange cross between Steve Buscemi and David Byrne.

  • That's funny and Linnel and Buscemi are long time friends. Not sure about Byrne.

  • @Microfoot and lyle lovett's hair
