@osmorphyus666 No, this video was made in Kdenlive in Linux, without Windows. In fact, I didn't have a copy of Windows at the time. When I made this video kdenlive was relatively buggy but it has improved. There are much better options out there now. The text was done in Kdenlive as well (I didn't splice GIMP images or anything).
@osmorphyus666 Also, given that the title font is not an MS font, but rather the defautlt font in Ubuntu, Sans, which is not installed in Windows, it's pretty obvious the titles were made in Linux.
Compiz is very useful for things besides fancy effects if you configure it properly. Desktop Wall and Expo are great for managing multiple workspaces. It's certainly not all eye candy.
for whatever reason the water one won't work correctly on my computer. when i activate the raindrops it turns the screen black and then adds the water effects. Does anyone know a solution to this?
can you tell me what is the name of the plugin that shows all the 60 windows on the screen at once, when i upgrade to ubuntu 7.10 i lost that plugin...
I supose it's the scale plugin, it should be on compiz by default, but you can activate it on System/Preferences/Advanced desktop settings (or CompizConfig Settings Manager).
Being a total Linux newbie, I installed Ubuntu after seeing what you can do with it. Not only the eye-candy (which is superior to vista and runs in my old 1 GHz 512 RAM notebook!!!!)
I have the feeling that it is all more logical and structured, I realized Microsoft software was a pile of fossilized code with new code on top released to cope with the sales targets of Microsoft!!
great great great we have all to learn linux put in our head those crazy commands o my god after 15 years fooling with the damn dos now we have to do this well at least this is pro like mac and not a stupid operating system like windows crap ultimate the ultimate crap lmao
Khlymore :Google "vista problems" and you will see. No wonder the newest computers can hardly handle Vista effects (just tried a NEW Duo Core laptop in a shop and guess what .. the windows got stuck!
Back to Ubuntu... Installing software is very easy: Find it in the "library" and click. That's all.
Documents are not in " C:/Documents and Settings/User/User's Documents/ Doc" but in "Documents". Temp files are not stored in a crazy aajshuil3949876alksjhasjdghasdg8783s.tmp file name.
Now the bad's of Ubuntu: Still you need to type some code, not everything can be done by clicking (especially installing). But, it is much, much less than I had expected.
There is a chat in IRC (remember?), they give you free instant quite professional support!! This is amazing, little mentioned.
Games you can play in Ubuntu are few (I am not a gamer but I've seen lots of complaints about that). However Flight Gear (a real FlightSim) is available, and has amazing features.
the fact that it camp run on this paper weig- i mean computer is jsut amazing :P compiz fusion by far beats vista, it slays it cuts off its head pisses on it, burns it at the stake on a cross....and it can run on old computers!
this video was made in at LEAST winxp with windows movie maker.
linux still has no proper video editing software.
we're still waiting. and the one thats out there - no text overlays or transitions - so its merely a splitter/joiner.
stfu or gtfo if you dont agree.

Well, linux is all about user choice, so we can have our useless eyecandy, and you can have a simple, elegant setup :)

On my Ubuntu 8.04, when I close a Window I dont get the fire. I get the effect that Vista has when you close a window instead!
topsyandpip56 3 years ago
You just have to install CompizConfig Settings Manager (search it with synaptic) and setup the plugin "Animations"

Dude, that was hilarious! Just as well you can see your 61 windows at once, just so you can distribute them onto your 964 desktops. Great video!

With ubuntu, you don't really need too many commands. They've tried to make it as easy as possible for the new user.
