@TFTDougrich . I don't have the album. I found this song online without knowing the song name or the artist. I just remembered 3 words I heard on the radio once years ago: "your a survivor". I don't remember what site it was on. I think I just followed links from a lyrics site or something. Several people have mentioned 'high school history". I'd like to hear it.
I didn't have to hear the song. I know it. I couldn't remember her name as she got very little or no airplay and I caught the tail end of this song back in the 70's and could only remember part of the lyrics included you're a survivor. This is a killer tune. Thanks for posting. I ain't heard about35 yrs.
PLEASE download "High School History" off this LP. It's such a great rockin' song! I haven't heard it in years. Really have enjoyed having this track again!
Great memories here - I was working in Canada north of the Arctic Circle in 79 and heard this on some US radio station late one night. No record store there and I contacted somebody by ham radio and got them to buy and send me the album. The album is still in Canada and I have been nearly 30 years in Africa, so it's been a while since I heard this.
I saw 2 of her lps in Amoeba (record store) today in Hollywood for a couple of dollars. I was curious about her so I found your link here. Tele master Danny Gatton played on 1 song. Didn't buy the records cause I was not familiar with her.

thank you for posting this song . i saw cindy perform at the whiskey a go go back in 1979 , with gary myrick and the figures as the opening act . she had real stage presence and was clearly an ascending star , but what the hell happened to her ?
any chance you could post "anxious heart" from the same album ...
@kurt11110 : No - I can't post anything else, because I don't have any of her music. I literally found this song online after much searching for a chorus hook line that that stayed in my head for many years. I heard part of the song on the radio back in 1983 (appx). I didn't even know who it was. (thankyou Google). I was glad to finally discover who it was. She's a very nice lady, too.
@debbyboondocks Cindy's debut lp, Desire Wire, containing the awesome track Knee Deep in Love, is available at iTunes and other download outlets. Enjoy!
I have just pulled this album out of the dusty collection. forgotten all about it. all i need now is a turntable. It waqs the track "high school history" that drew my attention
I played this song when I was in college and working at the college station KGRG. we actually got some of the top 40 stations to play it cause people loved it. I have a copy of desire wire about a year ago sent it to Cindy to sign for me. Hoipefully one of these days I will have the honor of seeing Cindy perform live If MTV had been around in 1979 and she could of done a video this would of been a monster hit for her.
Yes I used to really dig you Cindy. I had all of your early records! Then I heard the B-52's and never looked back. Caught the Plastics in Atlanta,1980. Wow! Great reminising with you....Wayne
I am working for her tonight! She's doing a concert and I'm doing the lights and I so made the stage look cool for her with fiber optic curtains. Should be a great show.
This song is from 1978. I saw Cindy perform at the Bottom Line in December (?) 1979. We drove from Tusk House in Jersey through a blizzard to be there. It was worth it. She was GREAT!
Hey Cindy, Remember me!! I did leave Facebook but have been writing a lot of new songs on the piano. You asked me to put in a good word for you and the Refugees at the Tupelo but don't know if you're booked! to a thundering applause; you'd think think they would owe me one!!! after the road I love my music, and listening to your music I realize that maybe Topsfield and the Perkins Row youth was a perfect setting for creativity. Hi there! Thanks for your interest in my music! "Survivor" was a single in 1979. It was nominated for a Grammy in that same year. Cheers, Cindy Bullens
'79. I just remember hearing it a lot in my second semester of high school and I graduated in May 1979. So you do the math. But it was a kick-ass tune. At our 30th year reunion, we were asked our fav songs from senior year. One guy listed "My Sharona" and I mentioned "Survivor" by Cindy. After 30 years, I've still carried this tune around in my head. Way to go, Cindy.
@CBULL321 Hi Cindy, have to tell you I learned of you from the "Grease" soundtrack as a kid (all-time fave movie). I have the "Desire Wire" album and I really can't wait to get this song on my iPod to workout to. Love "High School History" as well! Love your voice and your music. Thanks for the great music. There's sadly nothing like this around nowadays :( Cheers, Clint
@CBULL321 : hello! Mr. Punctuality here. 1yr later... (I guess I should check YT messages more often). I'll correct that date issue in the vid - sorry 'bout that, but as I told you a while back, that hook stayed in my head for many years after hearing the song literally only once on my car radio, and I had no idea who it was, because the stinkin' dj didn't give the name afterwards! lol. Anyway- thanks for a great tune! Hope your current music projects (Refugees etc) are going well.
Think it was 1978 or 79- it got a lot of airplay on KSAN in San Francisco...

Wow, i LVOE this song. Never heard it before now. This is REAL music.
The vocals around 3:00 sound like some of the songs on the Andrea True Connection album, the other songs besides More More More.

This song is from 1979. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts the week of February 03, 1979.
It was probably recorded in 1978 but didn't chart until early 1979.
