Thats awesome, reminds me of when i rode with a old guy in a no old Champ it was calling 35 or so for wind down the grass strip, that little 65 horse we started about half way down the runway and got off in about 10 feet then he floated it backwards to the end of the runway added power and we started moving forward again and landed on the numbers. A take off and landing with no downwind or anything! Not i would try but cool and remained below 10 feet the whole time. some just know the plane. :)
This is VERY cool! yippitydoodah comes across like a little snot-nosed punk that sits on an overpass and throws objects at cars on the highway below...and thinks that's funny and really believes there's nothing wrong with it. easy to do when the victim never sees your face. easy but gutless. get a life you yipping hoo hah and leave the rest of us alone!
depends into what knots of wind it was landing into. That aircraft had a flaps down landing speed of about forty knots, and take off speed, so NO FUCKING BIG DEAL people, get over it..
This no joke. I watched a Cub HOVER! He was in a strong head wind, and he just floated about 10 feet from the ground. His airspeed was probably 35 KIAS, but his ground speed was 0. He held it there for a minute or two. Wish I had a camera.
Of course the stonking headwind makes it easier to fly with a lower groundspeed but this is still a great piece of flying. The "runway" is very tricky and the windspeed also has the potential downside of a very nasty wind gradient. This guy can fly!
That is ridiculous. When I first watched this video, I thought it was fake because the approach looked like a toy plane on how it was flying, but I was wrong. Nice flying!
haha! ya Mrsneakynicky i bet you could do what this guy is doing right now!!! you sound so amazing!! let me ask a question, how many hours do you have and in what airplane!?!
Great video. I trust the wind was steady and not too gusty. I could get similar landing rolls out of my Zenair, but I don't usually fly in winds exceeding 10 knots.
I've watched several of this guy's videos. I see it, but I don't believe it. Incredible! But I want to know: is he the best pilot ever? Or the luckiest pilot ever? Or both, perhaps?
he's not the best or luckiest. he's a good pilot, but many bush pilots can do this. it takes a lot of skill and practice, and you need a STOL aircraft that can handle it. these aircraft are great but the downside is they are pretty slow in cruise flight, around 90mph or so.
