NEWSNET SCOTLAND CUTS THROUGHT THE UNIONIST LIES
REMEMBER WHEN IT COMES TO DEMOCRACY "BRITANNIA WAIVES THE RULES"
Fuck the unionists the upper class presbyterian bastards.Anyone who does not vote for scotish independence doesn't deserve to be called a scot or a Celt.No longer will we remain England's lap dog.saoirse go Albain
I can`t wait for the Scots to get this vote. It will be a vote between pride and knowing what a good thing they`re onto as part of this UK Union. Fascinating. Either way I`ll be laughing.
I think London should cede from the union. It's disgusting that our enormous wealth has to subsidise the rest of the UK, it's rightfully our money!!!! Oh wait, i don't think that because i'm not a completely selfish and simplistic idiot.
@N330AA London was never a country. It's not about money, it's about standing up for ourselves, ruling oursleves and letting the people of Scotland matter. No Tory seats were won in Scotland, yet they still govern us and close our air bases. is this fair? Scotland is a nation that is run by another country. If London was run by the Scottish parliament, independence wouldn't sound so stupid to you. You can't feel something that you cannot touch.
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS The Tories were democratically elected by citizens of the United Kingdom (which includes Scots and Londoners) and are ruling as they see fit, so yes it sounds very fair to me. You are complaining about the ills of democracy and your solution is... another democracy. If the Scots go their way there will be a very big net loss in defense jobs up there and If the Scots ruled London i'm sure they'd have the sense to recongise London's value and come to very similar decisions.
@N330AA Yes but how can the Tories have any justification to close two air bases in Scotland? Maybe you don't understand how big a deal that is. I live in Moray, where Kinloss airbase was based. Now, Kinloss is a ghost town. Massive houses are up for sale at £50,000. All the local businesses have shut and have been replaced by 'Cash my Gold' shops. We do not live in a democratic country, even now we have a government no one voted for throughout the UK. ConDemNation.
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS This is life though my dear. If it didn't happen in Moray it would have to happen somewhere else and the residents of that town could produce the same sob story. It would make absolutely no difference to the supposed lack of fairness of the situation though. As i say, if you have a problem with Democracy, what makes you think Scottish Democracy is magically going to be any better?
@N330AA Yes but Cameron only cut in Scotland because he had nothing to lose. Yes maybe he did have to make cuts. And he chose to make the cuts in a place where everyone despises him. This is not fair because Scotland is effectively under a dictatorship. If we were treated the same by the tories as England was, then fine. But we're treated terribly by an idiot we didn't vote for. Scottish democracy is better, the way our MSPs are elected is a much fairer representation of the people.
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS It's not a dictatorship because he was democratically elected. 1 Scottish citizen has as much voting power as 1 English citizen - Scotland all gleefully voted for Labour who were the ones who put us in this mess. You can't have your cake and eat it. And it would be the same in a Scottish Election. A bunch of people in Ullapool will be pissed off that people of the Edinburgh-Glasgow belt have all the voting power.
@N330AA Your missing the point! He was democratically elected by anyone! The tories did not win enough seats! Wales and Scotland vote Labour specifically to make sure that the tories don't get into power. Then the LibDems sacrificed all their beliefs for a little sniff of power. In Scottish elections everyone's vote counts as you can vote for two candidates - one for the constituency seat and also the list vote. All candidates who receive a certain pertanage of that areas vote are elecetd.
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS (continued) This means that everyone really does have a voice, not only the most popular parties get a say in parliament. Ullapool and the Central belt have the same voting powers. Constituencies are basically all the same size in numbers. Many glaswegians didn't vote nationalist, but the SNP still won the first ever majority in the Scottish parliament. Interesting you should mention Ullapool because I actually know one of the MSPs from there, Jean Urie, an SNP & bar-owner!
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS I would say he was democratically elected. He certainly got the most votes and i'd consider any other argument semantics. Though i was in favor of AV. A different system makes little difference to the process, the majority still wins and leaders need a certain level of dictatorship to be able to effectively manage. Either way the Scottish parliament has a lot of localised powers as it is and i'm yet to see a single tangible argument for independence.
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS I mean the base closures were unfortunate, but defense decisions should really be made on defensive merits, that is what the military is there for after all, not to make jobs etc (that's just a handy side effect).
''Glasgow is Britain's murder capital as knife crime spirals''
Scotland has the second highest murder rate in western Europe and Scots are more than three times more likely to be murdered than people in England and Wales
Its a shame that the Scots want to leave the Union, sure we have problems, but we could work them out. Hopefully one day our Scottish brothers and sisters will realise that the U.K has its faults, but we are not their enemy.
I think its time us Scots stop bitchin about how much we hate the english and start to think y we would want Scottish Independence. Its not about the pride to be Scottish. Say we got independence, yeah yeah we got independence, and now we just realised that all we cared about was the pride,we didnt think this through and now we are falling into poverty.
I an not against independence, i just want people to think about the challenges we would have to face if we got the independence we want.
@xMoNkEyMoNsTeRx Oil money would then be shared between 5 million, and not 62 million, with no funding of illegal wars necessary. Development of Scotland's renewable energy resources would then see us even better off financially: 25% Europe's potential for wind and tidal powers, 10% of Europe's potential wave power.
We have a net input into Westminster's finances, and regularly send Sottish water, gas, oil, electricity, even police to England. We would most certainly not fall into poverty.
The SNP promised a referendum in 2007, its now nearly 5 years later! I am all for a referendum, I'm not scared but I know salmond is. He knows that he will lose a referendum, the same polls that said he had a majority are now saying Scots don't support the break up of this country. Scots vote the SNP for different reasons, is every vote related to independence? no! its not.
@050948706 Who gets to vote on the referendum anyway? I was born in Scotland and live in England, can I vote? What if I was born in England but live in Scotland? What if one of my parents is Scottish the other English?
Any nationality can vote in this referendum as long as they have a household in Scotland. If you do not live in Scotland then you don't get to vote. If I was for example Canadian and moved to Scotland 3 years ago, as long as I have a house and work in Scotland I can vote. Your primary address must be in Scotland to vote in this referendum. If your Scottish and your primary household is in England then you don't get a vote, simple has that.
@050948706 That's extremely unfair, since independence affects every "Scottish" person everywhere, regardless of where they happen to currently reside. So some foreigner who lives in Scotland gets to vote, but a Scottish person living abroad or in England does not? Total BS.
If you're going to engage in mature debate, stick to the point and refer to the facts.
The SNP did not promise a referendum in 2007- they said they would have one if they could get it through parliament. The unionist parties, to which your affiliations clearly lie, made it clear they would vote it down. How then is that Mr Salmonds failure? No, every vote is not related to independence, just as every vote for the unionist parties don't come from those who wish to stay in the union.
Just as you were wrong about there never being a referendum, you will be wrong in your contention that Scotland will never be independent. The sands of time will surely sweep over you, and everyone else who has sought to deny Scotland's people democracy.
Before, the unionist parties said we didn't need a referendum. Now, they say we need one immediately because it's damaging to the country. My my, how the tables have turned.
I never said that "there will never be a referendum", we do not need to separate from the UK. Look at how unstable the Euro is, look at how these pathetic small nations in the EU get bullied by Brussels. Ireland was bullied into the Lisbon treaty after saying no the first time. The Euro is on the edge of collapse, the very currency that Salmond wants Scotland to join. So Scotland would be left with the pound, and our economy would still be controlled by the "Bank of England", pathetic.
Salmond said that Scotland would get a referendum in 2010, and now since he has a majority he can provide that for Scotland. Now he says though that we have to wait another four years to finally get a say on our constitutional future, why? because he is of course scared that when he does lose, the moral of the party will crumble. Referendums are reserved for the UK parliament, and they should quite rightfully provide a referendum very soon, instead of waiting another four years.
sorry what a load of crap u scots chat. England subsisises scotland soooooooooooo much. Frankly we should just give u independence. That way we can declare war on u and invade you, take back OUR oil etc.
why do so many scottish people think its the english's fault, we suffer the same shit you do,its theBRITISH government that reaps all the benefits.we want indfependence just as much. not because i hate scottish people because i dont but because i think it is a nations fundamental right to govern itself.
I thought an independant Scotland was for all the people of Scotland, the referance about Larkhall RSC is shocking, this is why Scotland will never be Free with pro Irish bigots like you making anti rangers comments in the name of Scottish independace Next time you watch a rangers game count the number of Scotland flags.Then watch a celtic game and count the number of Scotland flags.
Need i say more. Your anti rangers comments are helping divide the nation and YOU are not helping the cause.
Independence for England, Scotland and Wales? We could to that but Westminster wants to keep the Union so taxes of all of us are paid to them. Gives them more money to put in their own pockets... more money to claim on expenses... more money to build more motorways, railways and other infrastructure in the south of England and spend fuck all on the rest of Britain.
When the Scottish pay their taxes... how much of their money is actually spent in Scotland? And ask the same about Welsh.
Im bored of seeing all this shit - look at the real reason why england and scotland came together as they are today - it wasnt the result of an invasion it was done peacefully after scotlands failed colonies in peru plunged them into poverty that took generations to reverse. After that scotland was run by a few scottish families who owned the mining industry and kept a hold over the people. And dont start quoting braveheart because its bollocks wallace was never ever called braveheart ffs
@rulebrittaniaPTBB Hey man partlyagree, but that was bygone days,todays Scotland can stand its own. we have a prosperous nation which is being drained by westminster,not just our resourses but our people lured south for better wages which Scotland pays for (barnett Formula) Brave heart was a hollywood movie but if it unites the people in calling for an end to the union then lets have more.
The union is dead VOTE FOR A BETTER LIFE VOTE FOR AN INDEPENDENT SCOTLAND
scotiish poem.......................Freedom is Alive,After all these years! Within every scot freedom is laced with many fears! Scotland,s Nation and her people must stand! And vote for Independence,Her liberty,Her land! Stand up scots and be visible AGAIN! To honour her woman and children and her Proud Proud men!!..................Saor alba!
@PteropusDasymallus So you want to get rid of scotland, N. ireland, and wales? You must vote the BNP then, that only have...500 000 voters...not alot is it. But if you dont then why not make a party of your on, wich will go nowhere for a long long time...
Independence is coming and for those who want it should have there right to seek self-determination respected. Scottish Independence has nothing to do with the English, the way we feel about the English it just is not about the English . So before ill judgement is passed READ THIS . Also Scottish Independence is not about oil but it's our's and we have shared around half of it,What other nation in the world would do that ? A thank you would be nice. The time has come FOR SCOTLAND TO RISE !
@cameranzo1 The SNP are going about this the wrong way. When Scots have had a vote of Independance, they have bottled it and voted overwhelmingly to stick with the Union.
You should be campaigning to give the English the vote on Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish independance, we would vote overwhelmingly yes.
Why are the Scots so scared of voting for independance, do it, do it now!!
Then pass a bill to forcibly repatriate all the Scottish nationalist who have chosen to live in England
God good I would love the Scots to have independence. It would be great. They could have their high-tax haven, socialist, whisky slugging republic, and we could have what we've voted for, for years. A low tax economy!
However. Seeing as only about 10% of the entire Scottish electorate voted SNP in 2010 we can see that actually Scots have begun to realise that if it wasn't for the intravenous drip of cash coming from the South, they'd be fucked.
good luck to all you scotts out there, i hope us english will have our own parliament soon, its about time you were given the right to govern your own land and its about time we did to.
@jiggaberm Fair play fellah. Let's get one thing clear -any THINKING, Scot, who's not a retarded sheep will vote for their country. Such folks also have NOTHING against English people...but against control by Westminster - two completely separate things. Good luck to the English people if they wish independence also.
The right to the ownership of Scotland is with the Scottish people, not the British, English or anyone else! Now is the time to assert that right! The control of Scottish affairs and destinies should be with the Scottish people, and not with any foreign government! An independent Scotland would guarantee civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities for all Scots! It is now time for us all to proclaim our rights and regain our national freedom, sovereignty and our place in the world!
@weareScottish Q Wern't the Scots originally a Goidelic tribe that inhabited Ireland? In which case 'ownership' (crass phrase) of the land now known as Scotland doesn't actually 'belong' to the Scots.
You state that "An independent Scotland would guarantee civil liberty", but it wouldn't would it, you are anti-libitarian socialists.
You have had a labour government for 13 years packed full of scotmen and women, and the country is fcked.. be careful what you wish for.....
@PteropusDasymallus Firstly, your point about the ownership of Scotland is flawed, as the country is called Scotland, so therefore it is the land of the Scots, this following the union of the Picts and the Scots in the 10th century to form Scotland.
Secondly, the SNP is not "anti-libertarian" as you refer to us as, and to suggest otherwise is just absurd. We seek liberty for all people in this country, and a nation which simply governs itself, one which does guarantee civil liberty for all.
shame on labour and the conservatives trying to stop the referendum, at least put it to vote
as much as i'd like independence, i don't think the majority of the Scottish people will be in favour of it, and shame on them too! why have our economy, taxes, foreign policy and voice in the world governed from London
i don't believe in the union, it was a lie when it was signed, and now i think people have sadly just bought into it
"As long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours, that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself". The declaration of arbroath 1320! Independence! "Our day will come" Saor alba! TURNCOAT SCOTS! Stop your pish and vote for progress!
@Alastairbell This shit is what i don`t understand who the fuck in scotland still talks like this clown,why would you think the ENGLISH want to rule anybody,all the polls taken show more english wanting scottish independance than scots, We want independance from you and you can keep your 9 billion pounds worth of oil every year and we`ll keep our 40 billion pound sent to you,besides if you were`nt run from westminster it would be from brussels.
the scots were forced into the union, we were never asked, and now we want to be able to get the chance to stay or leave, and the rape victums in holyrood, that get their arse batterd at westminster trying to refuse us scots that rite
Decloration of Abroath, "Scotland should never be under english rule"
Scotland doesnt start wars, London does, and england has been at war with jus about every country in the world, with scottish help,
i agree fuck the union jack,but its a scottish led government that has taken us into the last three wars,the scots joined the union because your country was bankrupt oops funny how history repeats itself
@adger42 we used england, why do u think before the union started, we were at war with yas constantly? we used yas, n now we have oil, so good riddence to yees
@adger42 what about the 240 billion pounds from scottish north sea oil that has been passed to westminister over the last 30 years? i didnt see you complaining then and how about the one trillion worth of north sea oil thats still there when yous are trying to steal a big majority of that aswell i bet yous wont be complaining .Funny how we have been help paying for the english for the last 30 years still they are ungrateful ignorant idiots.
@gnostical the uk government has been scottish for the last 12 years,the english don`t have a government--- vote snp and we`ll see how many scots want independance.Then maybe we can have our own government.
@adger42 Your spot on! Take all them scots in westminster like gordon brown! and chuck them out!Why is scots clearing up your pish and not english politicians! Get scots out of westminster back to holyrood and make scotland independent And let the likes of your maggie thatchers and john mayors! runs the country into the ground like there so good at doing!!!! Saor alba! i will vote for any part who delivers scotland and england seperating!!
@Alastairbell What do you mean "clearing up our pish" the scottish raj have been in power for nearly 13 years,most of this is their fucking pish. 3 wars near bankruptsy ,as usual you will not take responsabilty for anything it`s always the fucking english to blame---grow up and you may be able to cope wiht independance.
@adger42 THE SCOTTISH RAJ! Who is in westminster and are a bunch a f**king turncoat numpties who would rather like your english arses then sort out there own parliment so you deserve them numpties there doing a abismal job like westminster and england deserve! you should fell like its not a muslim running it because the way england has a mosque on every corner it will come eventually!! like westminster and the south so rightly deserve!!
@adger42 Cool we have plenty of big issue street sellers vacancies! coz thats all there good for as thats all there mentalitys are used to with the mind numbing politics thats dished out at westminster!! Get ready for it @adger42 Coz when we have independence!! you can pray to allah with your muslim brothers and dont come north or we will deal with you lot like wrath of the hand of god!! Saor alba!
@Alastairbell deal with us eh--i wondered when you would get around to violence,the english have been under attack many times sonny and we are still here as we will always be,as for independance for you---I hope you get it, most of ENGLAND hope you get it,but i`m afraid it`s a dream because most scots don`t want it.
@adger42 Think your mistaken adger for the irish! as we will achieve our seperatism without bombing innocent people and without having blood on our hand just like the english have done in other countries during there occupation of foreign lands during there shameful empire days! We will have our day! And its a joy to see england on a down slope full of immagration and confused people like yourself! For england and whats left of your culture! Sad
@Alastairbell me confused hehe, to start --the term is the BRITISH EMPIRE ,once again you shirk all responsabilty and blame everything on the english,all over you tube there are scotsman telling how the scots won more battles and how much braver your soldiers are,once again you want all the glory and none of the shit,wake up man you were part of those days shameful or not. i know mel gibson changed your history but you cannot.
@adger42 Scots who fought for or under the british empire and was paid the queens shilling was in my opinion as scottish as the queen herself or like yourself-NOT! I cant excuse every scot if they wanted to be a turncoat bastard! or sell there country or identity by excepting themselfs as british! To me I am scot i will never be british and never will I AM SCOTTISH! I will never swear allengence to a foreign queen and nor should any true scot! BUT yourself-Turncoat!
@adger42 Ha Ha! your funny badgersniffer42 what next are you going to reply is that england are a peace loving nation who just wanted to colonise all the countries they did because they had a wicked ingredients for yorkshire pudding!! ha ha ha! f**king joke! what badgersniffer42! please! say something??
@Alastairbell" badger sniffer"---i am so sorry ,i won`t answer again, i didn`t know you were still in primary school,write me when you grow up ---if ever
@adger42 To talk to a turncoat scot or englishman who talks and thinks like you is like talking like a child at primary school because thats the mentality of yourself!! but by the sounds of your intellegence i will wait anothe 15 years til you evolve to a adult who can have a adult coversation! and make a better judgement than yourself! Your political opinion by the sound of it is not your own but what someone has pushed upon you! Your proberly a smoker becoz of the same way!
@adger42 Our country is in a far better position money wise than yours with our north sea oil money and the WHOLE reason why the uk government is scared shitless about scotland having independence is they wont be able to steal from the one trillion pounds worth of north sea oil which would mean scotland would be ALOT more prosperous than england if both were independant.
the guy in the green top looks like a relative to ian gray funily enough
also for those who dont know, their was no such thing as a united kingdon till the 17th century, when some arsehole king of scotland, and was king of scotland england and ireland, got a UNION formed
scotland is a country, in a UNION, not a fuckin region. the european UNION isnt refferered as a country, so dont do it with this one
the union is bullshit anyway, a free scotland, NATO can look after us
get that chip off your shoulder mate,scotland is free there are no border guards you can fly anywhere in the world or outer fucking space if you want it`s a good thing scots who think like you are minority
If Scotland fails to get it's Independence she will be the laughing stock of the world! ''Englands Bitch!'' EVERY former country of the old British Empire when offered Independence has grabbed it! Fuck sake Guys be proud!! GO FOR IT! The Empire is Dead! stop living in the past ,wake up and join the world's community of Free Nations!
thousands of scots died in the second world war. britain went into that war to keep polish independence. so why don't england give it to scotland. and wales.
I also find it amusing these figure Unionists use, Scottish people don't want this and Scottish people are in favor of that. Says who? I've never been asked. The Scottish people weren't asked when we became part of the union now in the 21st Century a time of so called democracy we aren't asked again. People also forger the huge number of people that don't vote and don't care.
According to the mythology that The Gaels killed the Picts. According to Mythology the Isle of Man was created by Fian McCool throwing a bit of Ireland into the sea.
But FACT, The vast majority of Scotland didn't want to become part of the union, Only land owners where allowed to vote and even then it was barley over 50%. There where riots in the lowlands after the Union of the Crowns.
Like i said the unification of Scotland was more bloody than the union between England and Scotland. Funny that you people object to how undemocratic one was but gloss over the other . :)
You all for the European Union then? Lets all learn French.
You still didn't quite follow that The Picts where not wiped out but that the 2 Celtic peoples joined to become the Kingdom of Alba, Later absorbing the Brythonic lowland Kingdoms. Long before the notion of Countries even existed.
I do support Britains membership of the European Union yes. Id much rather the rest of Europe learn English, and in many cases they do.
I do not want a history lesson, the basic point i was making is that the unification of Scotland was more bloody than the union between England and Scotland. This is certainly the case.
Then why stand in the way of progress? after all the UK is such a little sovereign state. Couldn't we just let someone in Belgium run us all? Maybe we should gradually all learn French and German, after all whats a language? Then just get rid of our culture.
You don't want a history lesson, that's evident seeing as you've clearly never had one.
Well an independent Scotland would indeed be dominated by Brussels and the Germans/French. Look at how poor little Ireland was treated over the lisbon treaty.
For example Scotland currently makes up about 10% of the UK economy and Scotlands economy is closly tied with England far more than it is with Germany or Spain. If Scotland joined the euro it would be about 1% of the eurozone, meaning it would be even less important than it is to the Bank of England (founded by a Scot by the way).
Another example is how bad the Irish were treated by Europe. they were bullied to backing the Lisbon treaty. Wouldnt happen to Britain
Really? I'd never have guessed that a Country in the UK would have closer economic ties with England than any other European Countrie. Jee now you'll be telling me New York has closer economic ties with Washington than it does Mexico.
Even if the UK broke up, Scotlands economy would still continue to be far more tied with England than with Germany or France. I support the EU but i oppose joining the eurozone because it has such flaws.
So we'd have closer ties to the only country we share a land border with. Cheers thanks for bringing this piece of information to my attention. GOOD, I want Scotland to have good ties with England, what is this idea that you want the Best for Scotland you must automatically hate England.
Indeed our economies are far more tied with each other because we share the land border, but that is all the more reason for why Scotland is better off as part of the UK with the British Pound, rather than joining the euro where it would be one small part of europe only accounting for 1% of Eurozones GDP. The European Central Bank look after the bigger EU nations more and ignore the smaller ones
Independence would lead to big tensions between Scotland and England with big economic implications
Plenty of English hate the UK government too. We'd have a better relationship separated, it's like a kid moving out from his parents, he can't blame them for anything any more, in charge of his own future, his own mistakes and his own success.
No sorry it is not the same. You seek to rip out 1/3rd of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Some people seem to think it will make little difference and someone was going around videos saying England wouldnt even notice. This is simply not true, it will have radical implications and i think people underestimate just how painful such a split would be for millions of people, including many in Scotland.
imagine Loyalists in N Ireland whove fought for decades to part of UK
There is a huge difference between overseas colonies which were never actually part of the UK and the United Kingdom itself. Even if the rest of Ireland decided to leave Britain would still remain, and i would still be a British citizen.
If the United Kingdom is broken up because of separatism in Scotland it seeks to completly destroy a country united for over 300 years and stops me from being a British citizen.
No because if you want to remain a British citizen you can get into a car or a boat and move to England, N. Ireland or Wales, So that you don't have to disgrace yourself by begin a Scottish citizen anymore.
I live in England already. If Scotland leaves the UK then the rest of the united kingdom would break up. I would have to become an English citizen. Im British and thats how i want things to stay :)
AS the great Glasgow rangers song goes, I.... was born.. under the union jack!
Then be quite about my country then. What little old Scotland that barley makes up 12% of the UKs population is holding the UK together? N. Ireland's Government who are gagging to stay part of the UK and The Welsh Government which is like a neutered dog that doesn't know any better are gonna get Independence fever as soon as the Jocks leave? (No offense to any Welsh or Irish, it's your governments not you)
Scotland is part of my country just like England is. Glasgow is just as much part of my country as it is yours.
Scotland leaving the UK would lead to the complete breakup of the UK. Scotland has played a huge role in creating the country we live in, its something to be proud of. Its ashame some people in Scotland hate our shared history so much
Whilst im a unionist and do not think of myself as English. If Scotland left the UK i would want an independent England. I hope that doesnt happen.
Ah, Oh my God. I didn't think you where a god damn Stereotype. Making more of the myth that all unionists are Loyalist Presbyterians who support Glasgow Rangers. That they're all either toff Masonic Golf players or knuckle draggers that get their politics from football chants.
Plus you can only be born under the Union Jack if you where born on a ship.
There are many unionists in Scotland, not just the Presbyterians who support Glasgow Rangers. Many celtic fans are also unionists, like the chairman of Celtic for example.
The original use of union jack may have been for on a ship but words and meanings change. The word Gay today means something very different to what it once meant. I prefer to say union flag though ( a flag created following a royal decree from the Scottish King after he took the throne of England).
I know this, but you have prooved yourself a sterotype, bringing the Unionist Football team into the equazion. One of the many reasons I dislike football especielly the Glasgow clubs. I now know where your hatred for my countries independance comes from. My best friend is a Rangers fan and is an SNP supporter. Smart people don't mix Religion, Sport and Politics.
Those football clubs cant undo their history and what makes them the clubs they are. Ofcourse not all rangers fans are unionists just as most celtic fans aint separatists but the crowds who attend the matches do clearly have certain loyalties. That aint sterotyping, its just stating fact shown on our tv screens
I have a hate for those who seek to destroy my country. I care about Scotland and the United Kingdom.
You are the one who tried to use a Glasgow Rangers song to either validate your point or irritate me. I can't take anything you say seriously now. Only good is that others will see the kind of people that are against the Scottish nation. The sort of people that would use a football chant in a political discussion.
"I was born under a union jack" is a good song and i do not see why it cant be mentioned.
You say i am against the Scottish nation, that is not true. I just do not want to see my country, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland broken into 4 parts.
Yes, I can just see the next question time where politicians are asked to name their favorite songs. I do not quote my national anthem 'We can still rise now and be a nation again.' because to do so would be a juvenile argument. You don't want to see the United Kingdom broken up, I'm sure millions didn't want to see the USSR broken up or Nazi Europe freed.
Scotland was not occupied and is not occupied. Scotland and England joined together in union to form a country with one parliament.
Important to remember that it was a Scottish king who took the throne of England and started the process of unification. It was his royal decree which created our union flag. 100 years later a monarch of his bloodline oversaw the acts of union and became the first Queen of the Kingdom of Great Britain.
This union has been great for both Scotland and England.
I wouldn't go down the Royal root as we both surely know the Stuarts where forced out of their place while far distant Hanoverians took their place. I'm not interested in the Monarchy anyway, as far as I am concerned Queen Elizabeth can Remain Scotland's monarch after all she is Canada, Australia, New Zealand and The Isle of man's Monarch.
Say it as many time as you want it still won't be true. The only concern you have about the Independence of Scotland is that your football team may have to change it's colours.
Look at your list of videos, Rangers Vs. Celtic - Rule Britannia. Falklands War, A love fest of the former British Empire, A Video about the ENGLAND football team with the line 'My Country supports me' surly that's a bit anti-British?
So you are English, an Englishman telling me about MY country. Thanks for fueling my fire.
No your English, dumb bell, the UK is and never will be a country it's a Sovereign state made up of Countries. Thousands of proud Englishmen would tell you this also. You are a narrow minded concentrated bigot who has created a page full of over blown glorifying of the former British Empire (Invading and stealing peoples countries is something to be ashamed of). Why I type back to a full blown stereotype is beyond me.
Im British, How exactly is English / Scottish a valid nationality but British is not 1?
Hows is the UK NOT a country? Its recognised internationally as one. What evidence do you have to say its not a country?
Proud Englishmen would have no problem also being proud to be British. I do detect a trend from some separatists who simply want to be Scottish and not British because they are some how ashamed of Britains past. They seek to shift all the blame onto England as if Scotland played no role
How is Scottish/English a valid nationality but not British. Because one would cancel the other out. European is not a nationality either but I'm European. Scotland is a British nation, A Celtic nation, A Western Nation and a European Nation.
UK is misrepresented a lot as a country because Sovereign states are usually countries. Spiders are misrepresented as insects a lot too but doesn't change the cold hard facts.
You have not stated why the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is not a country. Where is it stated? I can find endless sources describing the UK as a country.
I can find endless sources describing Scotland as a country too.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland commonly known as the United Kingdom, the UK, Great Britain or Britain) is a sovereign state located off the northwestern coast of continental Europe. Scotland (Gaelic: Alba) is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. Occupying the northern third of the island of Great Britain, it shares a border with England
Eh same reason I think I should have separate citizenship from France. IT'S A DIFFERENT COUNTRY.
The UK should be a union of Independent countries. Just as the E.U, N.A.T.O etc are unions of independent sovereigns. Our 4 countries are different from the rest of Europe but they are also different from each other. I think we should keep joint special forces, joint currency etc but have completely separate governments.
but that is partly what devolution brings, giving Scotland its own parliament and government capable of running most of its own affairs. Some want more autonomy which is possible whilst keeping the United Kingdom as the sovereign state.
England and Scotland have been part of the same country for over 300 years. Its not as simple as saying its just a different country like France.
No, it's a placebo. At any moment West Minster could shut down or over rule the Scottish Parliament.
Talking to a political nut like you is pointless. Look at his videos anyone who is reading this. It's like trying to talk sense to 'NAZI101'. I have more things to do with my time than talk to brain dead loyalists like yourself. Although the whole conversation is quite useful for those thinking about who it is that actually says no to independence.
The United Kingdom is a democracy, even if you want it broken up the separatists are not hunted or attacked. The UK wouldnt undo the Scottish parliament, their may be an occasion where it would need to be temporarly suspended if we were in WW3. However that is only the current setup, there is no reason why a Scottish parliament couldnt be given more autonomy and a system that prevents westminster overruling it or abolishing it. Total independence is not needed.
who is the musician doing the Independence song? Catchy as hell and fitted the video nicely

I think London should cede from the union. It's disgusting that our enormous wealth has to subsidise the rest of the UK, it's rightfully our money!!!! Oh wait, i don't think that because i'm not a completely selfish and simplistic idiot.
N330AA 2 months ago
@N330AA London was never a country. It's not about money, it's about standing up for ourselves, ruling oursleves and letting the people of Scotland matter. No Tory seats were won in Scotland, yet they still govern us and close our air bases. is this fair? Scotland is a nation that is run by another country. If London was run by the Scottish parliament, independence wouldn't sound so stupid to you. You can't feel something that you cannot touch.
ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS 2 months ago
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS The Tories were democratically elected by citizens of the United Kingdom (which includes Scots and Londoners) and are ruling as they see fit, so yes it sounds very fair to me. You are complaining about the ills of democracy and your solution is... another democracy. If the Scots go their way there will be a very big net loss in defense jobs up there and If the Scots ruled London i'm sure they'd have the sense to recongise London's value and come to very similar decisions.
N330AA 2 months ago
@N330AA Yes but how can the Tories have any justification to close two air bases in Scotland? Maybe you don't understand how big a deal that is. I live in Moray, where Kinloss airbase was based. Now, Kinloss is a ghost town. Massive houses are up for sale at £50,000. All the local businesses have shut and have been replaced by 'Cash my Gold' shops. We do not live in a democratic country, even now we have a government no one voted for throughout the UK. ConDemNation.
ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS 2 months ago
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS This is life though my dear. If it didn't happen in Moray it would have to happen somewhere else and the residents of that town could produce the same sob story. It would make absolutely no difference to the supposed lack of fairness of the situation though. As i say, if you have a problem with Democracy, what makes you think Scottish Democracy is magically going to be any better?
N330AA 2 months ago
@N330AA Yes but Cameron only cut in Scotland because he had nothing to lose. Yes maybe he did have to make cuts. And he chose to make the cuts in a place where everyone despises him. This is not fair because Scotland is effectively under a dictatorship. If we were treated the same by the tories as England was, then fine. But we're treated terribly by an idiot we didn't vote for. Scottish democracy is better, the way our MSPs are elected is a much fairer representation of the people.
ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS 2 months ago
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS It's not a dictatorship because he was democratically elected. 1 Scottish citizen has as much voting power as 1 English citizen - Scotland all gleefully voted for Labour who were the ones who put us in this mess. You can't have your cake and eat it. And it would be the same in a Scottish Election. A bunch of people in Ullapool will be pissed off that people of the Edinburgh-Glasgow belt have all the voting power.
N330AA 2 months ago
@N330AA Your missing the point! He was democratically elected by anyone! The tories did not win enough seats! Wales and Scotland vote Labour specifically to make sure that the tories don't get into power. Then the LibDems sacrificed all their beliefs for a little sniff of power. In Scottish elections everyone's vote counts as you can vote for two candidates - one for the constituency seat and also the list vote. All candidates who receive a certain pertanage of that areas vote are elecetd.
ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS 2 months ago
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS (continued) This means that everyone really does have a voice, not only the most popular parties get a say in parliament. Ullapool and the Central belt have the same voting powers. Constituencies are basically all the same size in numbers. Many glaswegians didn't vote nationalist, but the SNP still won the first ever majority in the Scottish parliament. Interesting you should mention Ullapool because I actually know one of the MSPs from there, Jean Urie, an SNP & bar-owner!
ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS 2 months ago
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS I would say he was democratically elected. He certainly got the most votes and i'd consider any other argument semantics. Though i was in favor of AV. A different system makes little difference to the process, the majority still wins and leaders need a certain level of dictatorship to be able to effectively manage. Either way the Scottish parliament has a lot of localised powers as it is and i'm yet to see a single tangible argument for independence.
N330AA 2 months ago
@ShRiNkInGMuShRoOmS I mean the base closures were unfortunate, but defense decisions should really be made on defensive merits, that is what the military is there for after all, not to make jobs etc (that's just a handy side effect).

@jyesey
The SNP promised a referendum in 2007, its now nearly 5 years later! I am all for a referendum, I'm not scared but I know salmond is. He knows that he will lose a referendum, the same polls that said he had a majority are now saying Scots don't support the break up of this country. Scots vote the SNP for different reasons, is every vote related to independence? no! its not.
050948706 9 months ago
@050948706 Who gets to vote on the referendum anyway? I was born in Scotland and live in England, can I vote? What if I was born in England but live in Scotland? What if one of my parents is Scottish the other English?
ninman58 9 months ago
@ninman58
050948706 9 months ago
@050948706 That's extremely unfair, since independence affects every "Scottish" person everywhere, regardless of where they happen to currently reside. So some foreigner who lives in Scotland gets to vote, but a Scottish person living abroad or in England does not? Total BS.
ninman58 9 months ago
@ninman58
I agree but that is how it works in near enough ever country in the world.
050948706 9 months ago
@050948706
No, every vote is not related to independence, just as every vote for the unionist parties don't come from those who wish to stay in the union.
jyesey 8 months ago
@050948706
My my, how the tables have turned.
jyesey 8 months ago
@jyesey
050948706 8 months ago
@jyesey
050948706 8 months ago

The time has come FOR SCOTLAND TO RISE !
cameranzo1 1 year ago
@cameranzo1 The SNP are going about this the wrong way. When Scots have had a vote of Independance, they have bottled it and voted overwhelmingly to stick with the Union.
You should be campaigning to give the English the vote on Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish independance, we would vote overwhelmingly yes.
Why are the Scots so scared of voting for independance, do it, do it now!!
Then pass a bill to forcibly repatriate all the Scottish nationalist who have chosen to live in England
PteropusDasymallus 1 year ago
God good I would love the Scots to have independence. It would be great. They could have their high-tax haven, socialist, whisky slugging republic, and we could have what we've voted for, for years. A low tax economy!
However. Seeing as only about 10% of the entire Scottish electorate voted SNP in 2010 we can see that actually Scots have begun to realise that if it wasn't for the intravenous drip of cash coming from the South, they'd be fucked.
Shame they realised really.

It is now time for us all to proclaim our rights and regain our national freedom, sovereignty and our place in the world!
weareScottish 1 year ago
@weareScottish Q Wern't the Scots originally a Goidelic tribe that inhabited Ireland? In which case 'ownership' (crass phrase) of the land now known as Scotland doesn't actually 'belong' to the Scots.
You state that "An independent Scotland would guarantee civil liberty", but it wouldn't would it, you are anti-libitarian socialists.
You have had a labour government for 13 years packed full of scotmen and women, and the country is fcked.. be careful what you wish for.....
PteropusDasymallus 1 year ago
@PteropusDasymallus Firstly, your point about the ownership of Scotland is flawed, as the country is called Scotland, so therefore it is the land of the Scots, this following the union of the Picts and the Scots in the 10th century to form Scotland.
Secondly, the SNP is not "anti-libertarian" as you refer to us as, and to suggest otherwise is just absurd. We seek liberty for all people in this country, and a nation which simply governs itself, one which does guarantee civil liberty for all.

I also find it amusing these figure Unionists use, Scottish people don't want this and Scottish people are in favor of that. Says who? I've never been asked. The Scottish people weren't asked when we became part of the union now in the 21st Century a time of so called democracy we aren't asked again. People also forger the huge number of people that don't vote and don't care.
Cybopath 2 years ago
DId the people of what is now Scotland all have a say on Scotland becoming a nation?
The unification of Scotland was far more bloody than the union between England and Scotland
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
Like i said the unification of Scotland was more bloody than the union between England and Scotland. Funny that you people object to how undemocratic one was but gloss over the other . :)
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
I do support Britains membership of the European Union yes. Id much rather the rest of Europe learn English, and in many cases they do.
I do not want a history lesson, the basic point i was making is that the unification of Scotland was more bloody than the union between England and Scotland. This is certainly the case.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
Well an independent Scotland would indeed be dominated by Brussels and the Germans/French. Look at how poor little Ireland was treated over the lisbon treaty.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
So instead of Scotland dominated by the UK dominated by the E.U it would just be Scotland dominated by the E.U. Cut outs the middle man at least!
Cybopath 2 years ago
A bad cut for many reasons.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Really? I'd never have guessed that a Country in the UK would have closer economic ties with England than any other European Countrie. Jee now you'll be telling me New York has closer economic ties with Washington than it does Mexico.
Cybopath 2 years ago
Even if the UK broke up, Scotlands economy would still continue to be far more tied with England than with Germany or France. I support the EU but i oppose joining the eurozone because it has such flaws.
European economies are just too different.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
So we'd have closer ties to the only country we share a land border with. Cheers thanks for bringing this piece of information to my attention. GOOD, I want Scotland to have good ties with England, what is this idea that you want the Best for Scotland you must automatically hate England.
Cybopath 2 years ago
Indeed our economies are far more tied with each other because we share the land border, but that is all the more reason for why Scotland is better off as part of the UK with the British Pound, rather than joining the euro where it would be one small part of europe only accounting for 1% of Eurozones GDP. The European Central Bank look after the bigger EU nations more and ignore the smaller ones
Independence would lead to big tensions between Scotland and England with big economic implications
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Plenty of English hate the UK government too. We'd have a better relationship separated, it's like a kid moving out from his parents, he can't blame them for anything any more, in charge of his own future, his own mistakes and his own success.
Cybopath 2 years ago
No sorry it is not the same. You seek to rip out 1/3rd of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Some people seem to think it will make little difference and someone was going around videos saying England wouldnt even notice. This is simply not true, it will have radical implications and i think people underestimate just how painful such a split would be for millions of people, including many in Scotland.
imagine Loyalists in N Ireland whove fought for decades to part of UK

Cybopath 2 years ago
There is a huge difference between overseas colonies which were never actually part of the UK and the United Kingdom itself. Even if the rest of Ireland decided to leave Britain would still remain, and i would still be a British citizen.
If the United Kingdom is broken up because of separatism in Scotland it seeks to completly destroy a country united for over 300 years and stops me from being a British citizen.
There is a big difference. :)
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
No because if you want to remain a British citizen you can get into a car or a boat and move to England, N. Ireland or Wales, So that you don't have to disgrace yourself by begin a Scottish citizen anymore.
Cybopath 2 years ago
I live in England already. If Scotland leaves the UK then the rest of the united kingdom would break up. I would have to become an English citizen. Im British and thats how i want things to stay :)
AS the great Glasgow rangers song goes, I.... was born.. under the union jack!
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
(No offense to any Welsh or Irish, it's your governments not you)
Cybopath 2 years ago
Scotland is part of my country just like England is. Glasgow is just as much part of my country as it is yours.
Scotland leaving the UK would lead to the complete breakup of the UK. Scotland has played a huge role in creating the country we live in, its something to be proud of. Its ashame some people in Scotland hate our shared history so much
Whilst im a unionist and do not think of myself as English. If Scotland left the UK i would want an independent England. I hope that doesnt happen.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
There are many unionists in Scotland, not just the Presbyterians who support Glasgow Rangers. Many celtic fans are also unionists, like the chairman of Celtic for example.
The original use of union jack may have been for on a ship but words and meanings change. The word Gay today means something very different to what it once meant. I prefer to say union flag though ( a flag created following a royal decree from the Scottish King after he took the throne of England).
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
I know this, but you have prooved yourself a sterotype, bringing the Unionist Football team into the equazion. One of the many reasons I dislike football especielly the Glasgow clubs. I now know where your hatred for my countries independance comes from. My best friend is a Rangers fan and is an SNP supporter. Smart people don't mix Religion, Sport and Politics.
Cybopath 2 years ago
Those football clubs cant undo their history and what makes them the clubs they are. Ofcourse not all rangers fans are unionists just as most celtic fans aint separatists but the crowds who attend the matches do clearly have certain loyalties. That aint sterotyping, its just stating fact shown on our tv screens
I have a hate for those who seek to destroy my country. I care about Scotland and the United Kingdom.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
You are the one who tried to use a Glasgow Rangers song to either validate your point or irritate me. I can't take anything you say seriously now. Only good is that others will see the kind of people that are against the Scottish nation. The sort of people that would use a football chant in a political discussion.
Cybopath 2 years ago
"I was born under a union jack" is a good song and i do not see why it cant be mentioned.
You say i am against the Scottish nation, that is not true. I just do not want to see my country, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland broken into 4 parts.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
Neither of those had beena round over 300 years.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Oh so if you occupy someone unjustly for 300 years that makes it Ok? (Non-Argument)
Cybopath 2 years ago
Scotland was not occupied and is not occupied. Scotland and England joined together in union to form a country with one parliament.
Important to remember that it was a Scottish king who took the throne of England and started the process of unification. It was his royal decree which created our union flag. 100 years later a monarch of his bloodline oversaw the acts of union and became the first Queen of the Kingdom of Great Britain.
This union has been great for both Scotland and England.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
Fact remains, it was the Scottish monarch that started the process of unification.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Occupation, control of one country by another is never right no matter what your little football team's sectarian songs suggest.
Cybopath 2 years ago
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a country too.
Scotland and Englands parliament voted to join together to form a United Kingdom.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher

Cybopath 2 years ago
I like the tune of that England football song.
I am British. Scotland is just as much part of my country and England is. My country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
Im British, How exactly is English / Scottish a valid nationality but British is not 1?
Hows is the UK NOT a country? Its recognised internationally as one. What evidence do you have to say its not a country?
Proud Englishmen would have no problem also being proud to be British. I do detect a trend from some separatists who simply want to be Scottish and not British because they are some how ashamed of Britains past. They seek to shift all the blame onto England as if Scotland played no role
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
You are Scottish, British and European.
You have not stated why the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is not a country. Where is it stated? I can find endless sources describing the UK as a country.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
i didnt say before that Scotland was not a country, what i said was where is the evidence that the UK is not a country.
Notice the second line on wikipedia. "It is an island country". Scotland is a country, the UK is a country and Sovereign state.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Well that's incorrect isn't it because Northern Ireland is on another Island called IRELAND. Just goes to prove a lot of statements are wrong.
Cybopath 2 years ago
i thought we were talking about the title of the state, not the fact we all live on the island known as Great Britain.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago

Swedish, Scandinavian and European.
Cybopath 2 years ago
If you can think of yourself as Scottish, British and European why do you think Scotland needs to have its own ctizenship by being independent?
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
but that is partly what devolution brings, giving Scotland its own parliament and government capable of running most of its own affairs. Some want more autonomy which is possible whilst keeping the United Kingdom as the sovereign state.
England and Scotland have been part of the same country for over 300 years. Its not as simple as saying its just a different country like France.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
@TheBritishWatcher
Cybopath 2 years ago
The United Kingdom is a democracy, even if you want it broken up the separatists are not hunted or attacked. The UK wouldnt undo the Scottish parliament, their may be an occasion where it would need to be temporarly suspended if we were in WW3. However that is only the current setup, there is no reason why a Scottish parliament couldnt be given more autonomy and a system that prevents westminster overruling it or abolishing it. Total independence is not needed.
TheBritishWatcher 2 years ago
But Labour are saying 'vote us in and we'll think about it'
