Speaking at a time when "historical authenticity" in the interpretation of classical music was a new concept, Keller is totally dismissive of what he perceives as a "castrated", impersonal approach. Had he lived long enough to hear, say, Andrew Manze and Rachel Podger, might his attitude have mellowed somewhat? We'll never know!
