  • Anyone wanna teach me how to read this language? How do I learn to read this?! Can you learn it in a week? Info from music players please. Much appreciated.

  • Thank you! This has been extremely helpful! I've learned both parts in one night from this video.

  • This is like ''Sing Along with Mitch'' except in this case I would called it ''Play Along with Philip''!

  • Thanks for your work transcribing this great song. Much appreciated

  • I learned to play this song using this video, thanks for making the effort to do this, Much appreciated X)

  • Why do we start with violin?

  • sounds like 8-bit videogame music... I LOVE IT!

  • sorry - it is wrong notated

    the piece is in 3 + 3 + 2= 8/8 , not straight eighths

  • I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for the sheets on your website!!!

  • Hi! there are some mistakes in your transcription. e.g. In bar 17 the melody in the right hand is supposed to be descending sixs (and not thirds)..

  • Reminds me of the old SimCity music.

  • Any chance you could email

This too me please? Xxalanazoexx@msn.com x

  • @AlanaB1994 It's available to download from my website (see video description for link).

  • @AlanaB1994

I got this sheet music. Just let me know if you need it and i'll mail it to you.

    See you.

  • Would you ever consider transcribing Renfield (From Dracula for solo piano) by Philip Glass? I love it and would like to learn it but can't find the sheet music anywhere, as usual!

  • @spricedesign I get tons of requests, and I have very little time to do transcriptions, so I'm not going to commit to any new projects at the moment, but I'll keep it in mind.

  • @ChuckMcKnightDotCom thanks! :)

  • abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

  • Kinda cool cause you get to see the music as it's being played. Good for learning sheet music!

  • Thank you for transcribing this for us! Beautiful music.

  • wow thanks for the sheet music! tyvm!

  • not correct

  • Wow, I remember this from the movie somehow... Even though I had forgotten about it, my subconcious hadn't...

    What a powerful piece! :3

  • I appreciate any insight into Glass's playing because songbooks of his music are so difficult to find. Strong effort.

  • the reason is because minimalism has not reached its popularity yet hopefully that time will be soon because i love phillip glass

  • Not too bad, but listen more closely to the original song. Measure 9 right hand should include the octave above what you have written, and I was very disappointed at the 3rds you have at measure 17. Those are 6ths.

  • It's amazing, having played for a while now, how much I couldn't hear when I first started playing, that I don't miss now.

  • seriously, no music doesnt have flaws, but you have to let it loose a little bit. They did a good job recreating the art.

  • Really cool vid...its a shame the computer can't play such a beautiful piece without being robotic

  • You mean there's no expression? I guess I agree, although it still sounds awesome.

  • yeah but its clearly using a crappy midi synthesizer like OPL3. plug the same score into reason 4 and ul be blown away.. :p

  • I love this progression.

Especially from the 2nd inversion of A-flat to C-Major at measures 3&4 and 7&8 and 11&12 etc. etc.

  • you guys need to listen to Japura River by Philip Glass.

That is the one that inspired Matt Bellamy to write New Born. It has almost exactly the same chord progression and sound even more like it than this one.

  • It's interesting to see the music this way - highlighting just what it is. Because, though it works very well in the film - a good film - it's pretty poor music by itself. And I have been a Glass fan for a good amount of his music.

  • I am a fan of both Muse and Philip Glass, and I have a lot of music from both of them. Every time I hear New Born, the beginning is so similar to Glass's whole style that I always think it is something from Glass that I'd never heard before, then the vocals start and I'm like, "Oh, it's that one Muse song that always confuses me." FYI Truman Show was 1998 and the Muse song was 2001, so Muse was probably inspired from this music, not the other way around.

  • i think a drum roll would go well in the background ^_^

  • hum, very interesting to "see" the music at the same time you hear it even to a person like me who does not understand a note in the pentagram :)

Are there more music like this you can hear and read?

  • MIDI doesn't suck! Do NOT confuse general MIDI patches with it's substantive programming and expression infrastructure.

  • @rosenbluntz - Hear, hear!

  • @rosenbluntz

Half of the music these days is composed in MIDI. Just if the person who creates the MIDI makes it sound generic and uses a very bad soundbank (for example, the ones included on windows) sound bad, does not mean MIDI sounds bad. The people who claim this, have very limited knowledge what MIDI is about

  • You're the best, Chuck! Thanks for your generosity with the sheet music. And a very good job on the transcriptions!

  • does anyone else hear that signature MUSE sound with the Maj Aug Min transition? New Born has that exact chord progression.

  • I don't know much about chords, but I can hear it though.

  • YES! It's soo Muse. And deffo newborn.

  • i thought that when i first heard it. XD

  • OMG yesss it's new born

  • Hahahaa, minus the repeats of the first 2 chords in New Born it pretty much is, however Muse have used the same part on the latter half of Knights Of Cydonia's verse anyway, it's a quite different context and a great piece of music still =] (Can't wait to see Muse in November!)

  • where did you get the music for this i cant find it anywhere on the internet

  • Do you mean the original music, or this sheet music? If the latter, I transcribed it myself. You can download it from my website (listed in the video's description). If you want the original music, you can get it on Amazon. Just search for "The Truman Show soundtrack."

  • thank you soo much you saved me so much more looking

  • kurwa zajebiste

  • Man, with the anonymity of the internet people sure turn cold. I, for one, think you did a good job trying to transcribe it. Keep trying I'm sure your skills will improve.

  • it called midi

  • your moms fart 2

  • thats not the correct version. That is a bit easier then the orginal.

    greetings.

  • cool i can good lern this great!

  • "I transcribed the music by ear", indeed you can see clearly..

This is not even like the original! Just search for "sheet music truman sleeps free pdf download" or somethin like that on google [a little dottie here!] com

  • Yes, I will be the first to admit that this is a very poor transcription of this piece. That's because this was my first attempt at transcribing anything. I really have only kept it around for nostalgic purposes.

If you want a really good version of this piece, get the PianoThemes one transcribed by Joe Rozell. That version is also hosted on my site (a little further down the music page).

  • in the 17th measure, the notes dont match the original, FA,EG,DF,...should be CAb, BbG, AbF...Right?

  • Probably, yeah.

  • hey where did you find the tabs...cause i want the tabs...REALLY BAD

  • I transcribed the music by ear. You get can get the sheet music I transcribed (in PDF and MIDI format) from the website listed in the video's description.

    chuckmcknight(dot)com

  • alright thanks dude finally got them and you doing it your self must be pretty hard...
