  • I remember playing this. Was a terrible game. The gore was the ONLY thing that drew attention to it. It was completely worthless otherwise.

  • My brother and I used to play this game at Rocky Point park in Rhode Island, it was an old amusement park with a huge arcade.....amazing, I haven't seen this since then, I had forgotten about it until now lol.

  • i must see more

  • This game is probably the most screwed up game ive ever seen.Is killing people the only goal?

  • Lol, what a fucked up game - living in the UK I never heard of this but it is hilarious though.

  • Golly gee, that's quite a violent game you got there.

  • I find it disturbing how a arcade game which you have to skin or grib the poor innocent people, End with a happy tune after each level

  • I played it in the arcade it wasn't too bad it was just lame..

  • some was really bored when they though this up

  • Pretty gnarly...

  • this sounds awesome.... y would they ban it....

  • It truly looks and sounds like a "Halloweens Haunted House Game"...Come to think of it, that would have been a better title that would excuse the gore and probably make more acceptable...maybe

  • the only reason i did not get a good score on house of the dead is cause i always killed the people they were bound to turn in to zombies but this game make you, that is wizard!

  • now I know why it was banned

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT

  • And to think now that we have games like dead space! back in those days if a game with the same grafics existed they would definately hang the man behind the title!

  • I've played Chiller this in the arcade, and it wasn't in any kind of "adult oriented" place. It was pretty bad, though.

  • i have chiler

  • This was at a haunted house place near niagara falls canadian side, on clifton hill, in a under ground like arcade back in the early 90's. Man that place was the bomb as a kid.

  • aint that america all the violence one can handle but no nudity

  • i got this on a emu for the xbox

  • yep just the arcade version of CHILLER from the nes not that rare not banned either on the nes . was a light gun game published by a unlisenced co.

  • Probably only banned cos of how crap it is...

  • What kind of fuck up game is this?!

  • I thought the only game actually banned in America was The Guy Game.

  • He missed a spot.

  • I use to have the NES version as a kid, pick it up used at a game convention used without the box! This is the first time I've heard anything about it since then, wish I would have kept it!!

  • golden oldees

  • ...

  • i didnt know that such extremely sick games was created that early , i thing that not just the game should be banned but also the developer should be hanged

  • @mr2000jp

You do realize that your comment/suggestion sounds just as dark, as you accuse the developer to be :D

  • @16bitghost sorry for that , but i was really shocked when i saw it , its really sick , its not a game of killing enemies or parasites , its killing and torturing prisoners in a torture chamber , thats waaaaay too for humanity . totally sick

  • @mr2000jp I won't argue with that, You are correct.

    It is pretty twisted.

  • @mr2000jp

Its like watching stick people getting tortured, it barely resembles anything "realistic."

  • @lightlittlebrownboy

stick people have feelings too ya know.

  • @16bitghost

    lol.

  • @lightlittlebrownboy you might be right , but the idea it self is sick enough, the tools and capabilities of the game making at that time didnt give much ability to make it more realistic , but if it was , who made the game would have made it more realistic.

  • Im really not surprised it was banned at the time...

  • @ryanxboxlive

I thought that at first too, but then I remembered all the slasher movies that were out at that time. (Nightmare on Elm street, Friday the 13th)

  • haha awesome game, but it figures that it would succeed in third-world countries. Only THEY are fucked up enough to like this shit!! Look at the second paragraph of the Wikipedia entry on it.

  • sick

  • I like torturing people Mwuhahahahahha >:D

  • i still own the issue of electronic gaming monthly that has the review of this!

  • Maybe it was banned because it sucks.

  • I think you can use the mouse in MAME.

  • lol that's one of the most hilarious games i've ever seen.

  • Rofl what was that, crazy game, even with todays standards.

  • Same company made Crossbow

  • I remember owning a import copy of Techno Cop on Sega Genisis, that was banned in the UK... dont know why really but it was the early 1990.

I remeber also playing thrill kill on psx that was suposed to be banned also

  • @BanjoKiD2K

I never heard of either of those 2 games, I'll have to check them out.

  • @16bitghost

Thrill Kill was a 4 man everyman for self beat em up, that was gorry but also a bit sexual/raunchy (which is why i think it got banned).

Techno Cop was a game that was on home computers inc ZX Spectrum and Amigia, but as Consoles aimed more at children the game was deemed unsuitable due to the blood in it.... (dont know why).

Like Stormlord the naked fairys with boobs out in ZX Spectrum. Amiga etc was replaced by ones with bikinis for the console releases. lol

  • @BanjoKiD2K Thrill Kill is bad ass! I had to mod my PS2 just to play this game.

  • Was this game the inspiration for the SAW Movies? O.O

  • first and lasting impression. wtf?. haha

  • I used to rent this quite a bit at the video store, the nes version of course. It's funny how video stores back then used to carry unlicensed games.

  • Wow. Thats badass! Lol

  • Oh shit Chiller!

In the orig. arcade version you were a torturer! In the bootleg ass nes cart you were a ghost hunter or some bull shit!

  • Almost looks like a bad movie license game except there was no movie. Still a great video, always fun to look back and laugh at what was being banned at the time. :D

  • Awesome game, they should make an updated version of this! :D Definately not what I was expecting!

  • That's one fucked up game

  • wtf lol o_o

  • Lmao thats fucked up!

  • Not sure why this was banned, I thought I saw this at the Disney arcade as a kid..... hehe j/k.

  • @woodengamer There is something seriously wrong with you.

    We should hang out :)

  • @16bitghost If your ever in the Minneapolis area, let me know and we'll go out for a beer and talk about demented video games, and why our children should be allowed to play them. (well... ok maybe they shouldn't be allowed to play them.... but we can debate that too)

  • @woodengamer Yea, who knows what the right answer is to that one.

I grew up watching horror flicks, and I'm only partially demented.

  • That was pretty crazy man, what does the pcb look like? it would be interesting to see if they have it out here as well. awesome vid

  • @lukemorse1 hey Luke, actually I'm just using a mame arcade rom.

  • Infact I have seen this before in some gaming articles about banned games. Looks fucking gruesome!

  • That's insane. Looks like a cross between Postal and some early DOS game.O.o

  • This definitely looks like it was made in England,im not surprised it was banned but it looks really interesting :)

  • Pretty cool game.see if you can find more banned games

  • Wow! Just wow! That is some really disturbing gameplay there! No wonder this got banned. This is the snuff for video games.

Some disturbed people who made this game :P

It is giving me a seizure as well with the strobing lights ...

  • @Aerodynamisch

Yeah. The epilepsy reason may have prompted most of today's game makers to switch from photoelectric-sensor-based light guns (the common type that require a CRT monitor to function properly) to infrared-based light guns (which are compatible with any display), therefore lessening the risk of epileptic seizures.

  • whoa LMFAO!!!!

  • Iam speechless about the content of that game hahahahahah i just like laugh nonstop.

  • It's the Best Monster Killers game! Haha. Wouldn't mind having a go at playing it with a lightgun. I bet if it was banned over here in Europe, that it was definitely banned in Australia lol! They get screwed down under. I'd be the same way if I had a sealed copy dude, but I'd probably just play it on an emulator instead of trying to track down another copy :D

  • Thats probably the most extreme video game i ever seen. Even with all the latest Mortal Kombat fatalities. Definitely never saw this game at any of the arcades i went to!

  • Looks like a fun game ;)
