hello everyone. I'm new to motorcycles, so if this is dumb question, i apologize ahead of time. Does anyone know if the K1200 R or the K1200 R Sport is available with an automatic transmission?
no, very few motorcycles have auto, you're better off learning to shift. Its really not hard. If your set on an auto, you'll have to get a scooter, or an old Honda-matic.
I'm 60-something years old and have owned 20+ bikes. My K1200R Sport is the ONLY one I've considered near perfect. It's also the only one that I've felt equally comfortable with for an hour on the track or ten hours on the superslab. Like the man said: "It's a great bike."

A fella asked if this bike has exhibited any "drama with engine, transmission or electrics."
After two years -- none! Not one quibble. I sold my old K75S after 158,000 trouble-free miles and I expect the same service from this K-bike.

Watching this video makes me miss the great back country roads of Oregon, and what better bike to ride up to Crater Lake on than the K1200R?

I've seen other tests of its twin the K1200S and that bike gets between 190-220 miles/ tank.

I think that's the point of the BMW. It is great, everywhere.

Any drama with the transmission, clutch or electrics? I really want one of the newer K bikes, but I don't 100% trust them like I would a Honda.

I just bought one. It is one of the finest bikes ever made. I have owned and rode many. I am 6-3 and it is great for the taller rider.
