@gf1001 im not one hundred percent sure- my grandmother told me (and you never can be sure whether or not she is for real) XD But Gracie Fields actual name was Gracie Stansfield and my name is Kate Stansfield. Also my great great grandfathers name was Tommy so im about 90 percent sure...but i have been doing some research. Any info on her family tree would be usefull thanks.

@TheRealDealReview Her name was actually Grace Stansfield but she is known as Gracie Fields. My name is Kate Stansfield :P My grandmother told me that we are related...and her brothers name was tommy which was the name of my great great grandfather soooo from what i can gather she is my great great great aunt. But i cant be sure....we may not be related at all LOL

I loved this song as a child. My grandmother, now 94, still tells the story of Gracie coming to Chorley (Lancashire) in 1938 to open the Royal Ordinance Factory. She travelled by car from Wigan and was delayed on account of the roads being heavily lined with people. She was driven along the main street in Chorley, lined with people on both sides, in an open topped car and sang this song at the opening ceremony.
