Liza is better than most in any form and I love Minnelli On Minnelli and the cd is a joy & whenever it goes in my car changer it stays for weeks on end...Bravo Liza!!!
Moonraker is right on this one. I can remember being so optomistic for Liza and her "Comeback"...but hearing the CD was almost a painful experience. So out of breath...vocal chords still so obviously damaged. Yes, we have this very clever, comical number...and the one recent song she has added to her act that is magnificent in every way, with the perfect lyrics for today's legend: "What Did I Have That I Don't Have." But, sadly, that's about it.
Just so you know I saw her last night in London. Went with low expectations but she was shockingly great, amazing, sensational. It was a wonderful night for us - and her.
glendonovan, it was nice of you to add this upbeat update...and I am very much aware she is now REALLY back. In fact, our lady is The Phoenix, continually rising from the ashes to suddenly appear thinner, prettier, healthier, and with THE voice again, blessed with power, no slurs, no lisps...just LIZA sounding exactly as she should.
I was in the West End tonight and had to pass the Colisseum to get to the theatre. The red carpet was out, photographer's waiting. Palpable buzz in the air. Would have gone in again like a shot if I hadn't had a play to go to...
I love Liza, and her intentions with this show were nothing but good...that being said, her voice never sounded worse. She performed so many legendary songs, but she severely butchered some of the songs.
I totally agree with Rosekelly, she never butcher any song... just listen to then album one more time... Yes, her voice was much deeper than it used to be, but she hit all the notes all right... Especially on "What did I have..." it's great, she couldn't have sang it better 20 years ago!!!
This is great and how liberating! LIza, you are a jewel, so keep on girl, okay? KEEP ON PERFORMING and entertaining us, please?

What does she mean - In 1959 I was 1 year old. - ? I don't think so, Liza. Am I just hearing this wrong? I'm pretty sure she was born in 1946.

She made a mistake.... "1959 I was 1 year older..." -- She meant to say...."in 1999...." it was just a way to cover up the flub.

I saw the first preview of that show at the Palace and it was amazing. Someone needs to put that whole show on DVD.

It's a shame that the CD wasn't recorded earlier in the run of this show.
