  • There was also a "name" guest star in each episode- in this one {"Man Outside"}, it was Michael Ansara (shortly after his divorce from Barbara Eden).

  • In the U.S., the series appeared in syndication [WNBC-TV in New York was one of the "big" stations that aired it, from 1971 through '74], through "barter" sponsor Colgate-Palmolive. They were a key financial backer of the show, and it was given to local stations free of charge, so long as they aired two minutes of Colgate-Palmolive commercials sent with each episode [the other four minutes could be sold to each station's local advertisers].

  • I just remembered used to on the BBC1 Schools programmes schedule times during the summer term 1977 after Music Time every Mondays at 11.50 crime drama Police Surgeon.

  • Do you have the end theme it was different but just as addictive?

  • Thank you, thank you for posting this. I used to love this show also. Watcfhed it on WNBC TV channel 4 in New York every Tuesday night at 7:30 PM from 1972-1974. Can't get enough of that theme song too. The Seventies at its best!

  • @TheRetro64 On WNBC-TV4 New York, during 1972-73 Police Surgeon first aired on Wednesday nights before Adam-12,then aired on Tuesday nights before Chase;both at 7:30pm[19:30hrs.].In 1973-74,Friday nights before Sanford & Son at 7:30pm[19:30hrs.].

  • As good as this theme is; The end theme is even better. Any chance of putting that up robatsea2009?

  • Oh my fucking God! You have got to be shitting me! I can't believe I'm hearing this this for the first time in 36 years! My favourite tv theme of all time! I was begining to think I had imagined it! I've got tears in my eyes.

  • I too saw this as a kid. My sisters hated it and laughed at me for loving the theme tune. I just turned it up and danced, I'm dancing now - thanks

  • Wow! I remember this! Nothing really special, but one of those solid but predictable police dramas which abounded in the 70`s. Loved the loud theme song. As I can recall, the end theme was even better! Any chance in finding that?

    Nice find, robatsea2009.

  • Thanks for sharing this! I used to watch Police Surgeon in the 1970s when it appeared briefly on a New York station. I was a little kid at the time, so I don't remember much about it. I can't find anyone else who remembers it.

  • @gilberttorres57 Wow this is cool .. Man Outside was filmed in my apartment building .. in fact in my apartment. My folks were Caretakers of the bulding .. we were out of our apartment for I believe it was a week. I remember coming home for lunch one day and sitting at an upstairs neighbors and actually watched the gun fight being filmed right outside ... Wish I could find a copy of the episode. If you know where I can find it I would appreciate it Thanks .. and sorry I just had to share

  • @llexidawson It`s understandable llexi; did you know that 2012 marks Police Surgeon`s 40th anniversary[CTV,1972]? Dedicatable to the memory of CTV Sports/Entertainment president Johnny Esaw.
