Never realized that they made/prepared all of their instruments.Just how many noise, noise rock, power electronics, industrial and free improv groups are indepted to these gentlemen?
when i was in college we had a band with a similar orientation. we were called "the Chairs". we used conventional instruments, but played complete free form noise. And like theses guys here, we had a lot of fun. I've seen the nihilst spasm band's first album in a collector's 'zine going for $900.00. Right on!
The Nihilist Spasm Band are a Canadian "noise" band who've been around since 1966/67 or so, have released a few records and are stil active today. They've influenced a whole movement of Japanese "noise musicians" and are apparently a huge underground phenomenon there. It looks like they somehow got onto the show "Sekai no Ongaku" during a tour.

They're actually from Elmira Ontario, a small town outside of Waterloo. Bill Exley was my English teacher.
