  • thanks. for us non mechanically adept people, this helps to "demystify" the workings of the appliance. clear concise practical.

  • @sactownmot Thanks for the comment! Just uploaded a new video on electric range burner switches and elements...If you have 7 min. :) Thanks again!

  • Hey, is there any thing I can check before I replace the tub support springs on my thintwin whirlpool stackable unit? Mod.# LTE5243DQ6... the tub is leaning and is hard to balance And I can't afford a Hundred bucks right now for the spring support kit.. they look loose from the frame any help whould be greatly appreciated....

  • @izzynutz2000 Sorry for the slow response...busy few days. Take a look at my other video "Whirlpool, Maytag, Sears Kenmore Appliance Washer Tub and Suspension Repair Video" it is probably the tub spring in the back of the washer that has ether broken or cut through the frame. hope that helps!

  • Thanks for posting this. Excellent instructions. I didn't know where to start, but with this it was a snap.

  • Thanks this helped. Didn't have to call a repair man

  • hey thanks for sharing this, now i can refer my friends to this so they can fix it themselves. cuz i hate working on these !

  • This is the best step by step tutorial that I have seen. I appreciate you posting this, now I know how to properly disassemble my washer cover so that I can fix the problem. Thank you

  • @dphantom305 Thank you! Glad I could help!

  • Hi, I have a Whirlpool RH4936XWQ1 top loading washer that leaks from the inside of the machine on to the floor occasionally. I have checked the supply hoses and the drain hose on the back and they are dry throughout the cycle. The washer runs through the whole cycle including draining. I removed the front panel and found water on in the bottom frame. It almost looks like water might be coming from the tube located on the left back of the tube. I think it is a pressure switch. Any thoughts?

  • @sbruton1122 Would you mind checking that model number RH4936XWQ1 is a Whirlpool vent hood model number. It's definitely possible that the pressure switch tube is leaking...that can lead to the washer over flowing (big leak) so be careful. When I get that model number I will be better able to advise. Thanks!

  • @sbruton1122 Yeah check and replace the drain pump

  • I've got a "Stackable" LCR series Whirlpool washer. Are the disassembly steps the same as for a full size machine? I'm heading for the tub seal which has started leaking.

  • @wishneusky Most likely yes but would you please supply the unit's model number so I can verify. Thanks!

  • @applianceassistant It's an LCR5232HQ2

    Thanks,

    Pete

  • @wishneusky Unfortunately no. I don't know if I would necessarily advice replacing a tub seal/bearing on that washer... Fairly difficult job, high parts cost, and low expected life span. Sorry I don't have a video for that one :(

If you go for it good for you! Best of luck!

  • please i woke up this morning and there was water on the floor from the washing maschine help what can i do.is it serious ?

  • @dorsome There really are a lot of things we would need to discuss to determine what might be the cause. In most cases no it would not be serious. the most common thing would be the water pump a hose, or a broken or loose tub spring. What is your washer's model number? Was it a lot of water or just a little? If you email me through my website I will give you my phone number and we can talk about it in more detail. ApplianceAssistant . Com (There is a link in the description of the video.)

  • @applianceassistant thank you so much for wanting to help ,that is very nice of you.It was not a serious problem i have gotten it fixed but i am happy to know i have some one to go to if i have problems in future

  • what is with this sex music?

  • @CaviarDreamer This is one of my first videos...Thank you for looking past the sex music in search of the message. My newer videos are slightly less groovy. :)

  • Today I replaced the 4 agitator dogs in my agitator for my Whirlpool Superba. This fixed the agitating issue but my machine still won't spin during the spin cycle. It makes a large humming sound when it goes into the spin cycle mode. I checked to make certain that I properly installed the dog/cogs and it will now the agitator piece now moves to the left and the right (it didn't before I fixed it). I refuse to call a tech. as I know I can fix it myself. PLEASE HELP A GIRL OUT!

  • @pookiealeman I would love to help out! email me through the web site and I will be glad to give you my phone number so I can listen to the sound and perhaps help. (there is a link to my website in the video description) also there are some other sounds you can listen to on the site that may help to identify your problem. Probably a bad motor coupling... Hopefully :)

  • Today I replaced the 4 agitator "dogs" and the agitator still doesn't move at all. I checked to make certain I installed the agitator dogs properly and now the agitatormanually moves to the left and to the right (it didn't before I fixed it). It makes a large humming sound when I put it on the spin cycle. I took care of one problem with agitating but it still doesn't spin during spin cycle. The water does fill up and drain with no problem. PLEASE HELP A GIRL OUT.

  • Hi, I have a KitchenAid Superba washing machine. I went to wash clothes and the machine fills up with water but it doesn't agitate. The water drains out when I put it on the "spin cycle" but it doesn't spin at all and makes a strange humming noise. What do you think this could be? Is it a belt or is it in the spinning device?

  • @pookiealeman Well since the washer drains we know the motor is working.. It would definitely be worth checking the motor coupling to see if that is completely broken, not transferring power to the drive system. (I have a video for that) If the coupling is intact it is likely a transmission problem. If you need more help email me through my website and I will give you my phone number so we can chat. Good luck!

  • Thanks, I changed the 4 dogs on the agitator and now that works but it still doesn't spin. I am going to check the motor coupler...wish me luck.

  • Your video worked for me! I appreciate the quality of the videos, too. :) It kept me from buying a new machine.

  • @curiousasusual Thanks for the comment! This was one of my earlier videos and honestly I have thought about going back an redoing them for better sound and less shake but I just have too many other things to do. I'm glad you liked it and it helped out!

  • WATER GOING IN BUT NOT STAYING IN COULD YOU HELP WITH HIS ITS A GE

  • @memphisall1 Check the height of your washer's drain-line. The drain pipe that it is connected to needs to be higher than the water level inside the washer tub or the water will siphon out as it comes in. Air also needs to be allowed to enter into the drain pipe along with the water that is being drained from the washer or the same siphoning effect can occur. So don't seal the drain pipe onto the pipe with a bunch of tape, it's better to use zip ties or something like that to secure the drain.

  • my washer fills up with water but wont spin. i took the front off and a black thin "belt" looking thing fell out, it was broken. i called Sears Parts Direct and they told me that the model i have does not have a belt. i am holding what i thought is the belt in my hand...what else could it be ? i have spent an hour on the phone with the parts line and no one seems to know what part i am talking about. i am 2 hours away fromthe nearest parts store - just hoping you can help. thanks

  • @taraleeblackburn If I had your model number I could be more curtain but If you have this style of washer that is in this video, the black belt looking thing probably came off of the clutch/ brake assembly. On some models the outer housing of this assembly has a black rubbery ring that is glued on the outside rim to help dampen noise. It is unimportant mechanically. The most likely cause for fill and then nothing is a broken lid switch. Watch the lid switch and drive system videos.

  • @taraleeblackburn motor coupler

  • to be honest... the audio and the assistant were good. The music sucked and the first couple of highlights made me think I was seeing floaters but other then that the info was great!

  • This video was a tremendous help to me in diagnosing and repairing my machine. It was off balance and the problem turned out to be just a disconneced counter balance spring, which I was able to see immediately once I had the panel removed - thanks to this video. An easy fix!

  • This video saved me from prying my washer apart with a crowbar. Thanks, in the end I probably saved $150 by doing the repair job myself.

  • @biglou250 Thanks for the comment! I'm glad it helped out! I have a lot more videos and help on the main website if you ever need it. ApplianceAssistant Com Thanks again!

  • i have a estate whirlpool washer, everything works but it won't spin. The agatater water in and out work right on spin cycle also.I wonder if someone could let me know 1 or 2 things it could be!! thanks

  • @supersnouser I'm a little unclear on the symptoms... if it just stops when it should be spinning Check the lid switch. If it is not spinning at full speed you may need a new clutch. If it is running but not spinning at all could be coupling, transmission, or clutch. I have 8 other direct drive washer videos and troubleshooting on my web site that may help.

    Thanks for your question.

  • ühm_ÀnÿóñÊ_wâNna_chÂt_wÌth_mê_Ï_feEl_sÒ_løñelÿ_tòDÅý♪

  • Thank you so much! By using your video I was able to replace my lid switch. I paid 39.95 for the part....how much did I save in labor? Do you know? I had trouble putting the machine back together with the clips that hold the back to the top, where you state, push down with your wrist...turns out I had them on backwards once I had them right the went right back on! Thanks again, VERY helpful and useful!!!!!

  • Hi... my wife found our laundry room flooded while doing wash. I noticed the timer switch had no response intermittantly irregardless of position. I thought perhaps a bad timer switch allowed the machine to overfill with water? I thought replacing the timer switch may take care of the problem. I now replaced the switch but, discovered still with the machine on a fill position- the water will not stop when pushing the switch "IN"/"OFF" position. Is this normal? If not; Any suggestions?

  • @tomster123100 No that is very strange... First I was thinking you may have a problem with your pressure switch or the pressure tubing that senses the water level...but it should definitely stop when you press the timer in. what about if you unplug the washer?

email me through my website ApplianceAssistant Com and I will give you my phone number so we can figure this thing out.

  • okay thanks, but I am in Edmonton, Alberta Canada

  • Hey, the motor coupling on my kitchenAid washer went out on me and this was a HUGE help on getting started! Thank You!

  • thanksonce again, do you have a service technician that can over and check it out for me?

  • @Gb1234M If you are in the Shelbyville Kentucky yes.

  • This is a great video. The drumm in my whirpool washing machine recently started wobbling while working and making strenge noise. what do you think could be wrong?

  • @Gb1234M Thank you! If the inner drum is wobbling you most likely need to tighten or replace the inner drive block or “hub” this is a special tapered nut that holds the inner tub to the drive shaft of the transmission. If the outer tub is flopping around you may want to look for a broken or loose tub suspension spring. I have 9 other videos on my website that are available for a 5 dollar donation. But if you can't swing that let me know and I can help you out. Thanks again!

  • leaking cold water into the internal basin. I can turn the cold off and the leak stops. Is there a disk or valve that might be damaged? Maytag Centennial, model # MVWC300VW1

  • @tzebra The valve is almost positively responsible for those symptoms. That is a slightly different "improved..." water valve that is a little difficult to find. I cannot post links on YouTube comments but i f you send me an email through ApplianceAssistant Com I will be able to send you a link to the valve for 41.97 with a one year warranty. It is fairly state forward to replace once you have the cabinet off.

  • I have a Kenmore washer that has been in the garage for 2yrs and when I started the machine it just makes a buzz noise, won't do a thing. What is a matter? I thought maybe there was water frozen from being in the cold garage. Please help!!

  • @tommylvsjulie12 I'm sorry it took me so long to get back with you! It is definitely possible that water remaining in the pump could have frozen and would keep the motor from working. But I would imagine if that were the case it would be working by now. You may want to try running the washer with the pump off of the motor, and see if it will turn over then. The motor may have accumulated some rust, perhaps if you manually rotate the motor you may be able to free it. Let me know if I can help.

  • Please help, having problems with a Maytag M# MTW5570TQ0, S# CU1240074 washer, the unit only works in the HD wash cycle, the othe two wash cycles short & delicate do not work, what could be the problem?

  • @lhtbuilder

When you say won't work…Do you mean won’t fill, wont agitate,...? That washer has a 2-speed motor so my first thought would be bad timer contacts but you may have a problem with your motor. You would need to check for voltage at the motor and resistance across the two sets of motor windings. You can find a lot more help on my website ApplianceAssistant com

  • @lhtbuilder

I believe both the short & delicate cycles are low speed options, and Heavy Duty is high agitation/ high spin. That is a sorry excuse for a washer user manual! 12 pages of safety and installation stuff and one page of user instructions…Ridiculous. Ether the motor or timer wires are not fully plugged in, your timer is not sending power in those two cycles (unlikely), or the low speed motor windings are bad. You would need a voltmeter to test the last one. I hope that helps!

  • @applianceassistant If you need any other help feel free to contact me through ApplianceAssistant Com so I will have more than 500 characters to respond. Also If you do need repair parts or new appliances... purchasing them through my web site will help pay the bills so I will be here next time you need me! Thanks again! Happy Holidays!

  • Thanks for the compliment! (I only have 500 characters) If it is the motor coupling pt#285753A then yes that is the part number and you are on the right track if the coupling is completely shredded then the washer may not agitate but it may also be the agitator “dogs” inside the agitator. I would replace the coupling first see if that gets it and then work on the dogs. I have how-to videos at ApplianceAssistant. Com for a 5.00 donation. If you can’t afford that email me and I will still help!

  • Great Video; I have a Whirlpool Model # SAWS800JQ2 and my husband turned it over and found a broken, loose black belt or ring that may attach to 2 screws; Do you have any idea if this part is necessary and the part number to purchse from Whirlpool. Also, the motor runs and the agitator won't agitate. Is that a motor coupler problem? I checked online and found part # 285753A as replacement. Is this correct? I hope you can help me with these questions.

  • how do I remove the tub

  • Thank you so much for the video. I had a kenmore with a broken door switch and I did not know how to get to it. It took me no time at all to fix.

    Thanks again

    Master Nova

  • The best on your tube, after watching this video I was able to replace water pump and agitator dogs, save me $120 did the job in 30 minutes. Had a great feeling afterward Thank you Applianceassistant.

  • hello. why aren't there any videos for Kitchen Aid washing machines???? i have a kitchen aid and there aren't any screws in the front and i am not sure which screws to unscrew.

  • @boogstubbie Whirlpool and kitchaids air the same , Kitchenaid just has a little more bling and sound insulation

  • well done video.

One small point: The gloves are a little strange...reminds me of movies of cat burglers...

  • Great video - I've done this a number of times over the years, but usually forget how to REPLACE everything properly. This video was excellent.

  • This helped me to do the same lid switch fix anot;her viewer did using a wire tie. Total cost: 5 cents. Thanks

  • I thought it was really funny how this video was done on a newer model washer. Nothing is built to last anymore :)

  • Gracias!! Thanks

  • Gracias! thanks.

  • Thanks so much for making this video! It saved me money cause I figured out the problem after removing the casing. Couldn't have done it without your help. Thanks!

  • tank you !!I fix my wash machine with your help ...:)

  • Thanks for the video, helped me remove the cabinet and fix the lid switch. It had split open; used a plastic tie wrap to clamp it back together; reinstalled and all works great again

  • do you know anything about front loading washers is it the same thing

  • very thorough........ thanks, havent fixed a damn thing yet, but im getting close lol

  • Very helpful video! Was able to access the hose, clean out the blockage, put it all back together and get the machine to drain properly again. Thanks!

  • hello. i need to open my kitchenaid washer. it is a superba top load model. i cannot figure how to get to the lid switch.

  • Awesome Video. Very professionally put together. It Helped ME ALOT in putting together My Whirlpool Washer. I was LOST. Iam On the right track now.

  • Thanks for the video-- i was about to take a torch to my washer to take it apart.

  • Wow! couldn't be clearer! Unlike the other videos I watched, this one shows exactly how to replace the cabinet. A huge help!

  • Wonderful video. It took me some time to get the cabinet back on. Darn had to ask my hubby and he noticed the plastic tracking from the back panel had come loose. This was the reason I was having such difficulty replacing the cabinet. Barefoot with no gloves didn't help either.

  • Hi your video is great!! thank you! In this momento I have a problem with the timer of washer machine. It's is difficult to install? because the technician is too expensive.

    Can you help me?

thank you and I will wait for your response.

    Natalie

  • Thank you Natalie! The timer is fairly easy to swap out, it is also common to think that a timer is needed when actually it may be a less expensive part. What kind of problem are you having? can you get me a model number and symptom description please?

  • I've got the same problem (timer seems to be malfunctioning.)

Mine is a Kenmore 90 series.

All of the functions/cycles work, but the timer will not advance automatically over time while it is pressed in. Since the timer doesn't rotate, it will continue any selected cycle forever unless I pull out the knob, manually advance it to the next function and then press it in again.

  • Occasionally the same kind of symptoms can occur during the rinse portion of the cycle if the water valve is not functioning properly. If the timer freeze happens to be on the rinse portion of a cycle, be sure that you have full flow of both hot and cold water into the tub during fill before spending the money on a timer. You may also be able to use an alternative cycle on the timer that is not having a problem for a while.

  • @applianceassistant

The timer isn't advancing in any mode, so using an alternative cycle isn't an option. It also acts the same during wash, rinse and spin cycles, so I don't think it's the water valve, but I'll verify that both hot and cold water flow before ordering a replacement timer. After opening the top console using your instructions I'm amazed at the number of electrical connections to the timer (it's a little intimidating). Thanks for the help!

  • Hi your video is great!! thank you! In this momento I have a problem with the timer of washer machine. It's is difficult to install? because the technician is too expensive.

    Can you help me?

thank you and I will wait for your response.

    Natalie

  • Yeah whirlpools direct drive is the most easiest washer to work on.

  • Awesome! Now I'm going to go fix my washer, I hope.

  • Thank you mate. Your video helped a lot.

  • One of the best how-to videos ever. I was always curious about how a washing machine can be disassembled. With this one, I was able to replace my water inlet valve with no problem on my washing machine.

  • We had a frustrating time trying to re-assemble the cabinet to the base, but the video was an enormous help - clear concise directions. Thank you.

  • Great! helped me save big bucks. a rat had chewed through the filler hose inside the machine...a cheap fix thanks to you!!!!!

  • Thank you very much! That was really helpful.

  • Wow, you REALLY explain things well! (You don't miss any of the little things, either!) GREAT VIDEO! :D

    ~Cindy! :)

    ..

  • excellent how-to video

  • Good instruction but the voice wasn't much louder than the background music making it difficult to hear.

  • Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

I would have never attempted this on my own had I not seen you do this. I was able to open up the washer, pull off the casing and fix my lid switch. It was such an easy fix and saved me a ton of money. My washer is working great now. Thanks a million!!

  • Thanks a bunch!

  • Thank you so so so much. I was able to fix my lid switch by myself thanks to this video...without it I was lost!

  • great video, helped a lot thanks

  • Thank you so much for this, saved my butt, and my wallet, at least in the short term

  • Thank you. I have the kind with the hidden clips. Very tricky.

  • GREAT HELP! THANK YOU!!

  • Thank you!!! I had to remove the cabinet to access the container, but didn't have a clue how to... you saved me a lot of time and mistakes!

  • The videos are visually insightful and follow a solid logical framework. We all learn best by watching and these are top notch. I look forward to buying your complete washer video.

  • Great video, thanks for posting it. Have to go replace my lid switch.

  • thank you so much this was extremely helpful. I was able to replace the lid switch myself. The relay cost $26 instead of a new washing machine. Excellent video.

  • Thanks, Video was very helpful

  • This was the best and most helpful for me. Thanks!!

  • I've got to give this a try because I just can't afford a repair guy right now.

  • this video is the best, I have to try and fix the loud banging noise

  • Hey, it worked! I wouldn't have been able to open it right if I hadn't watched this video. I bought a timer on ebay for $30 and put it in and the washer works like new again!! This video probably saved me $250 or more!! XD Thank you ApplianceAssistant! I hope you have good luck with yours too jchoochee. Peace :)

  • Very good video.excellent demostration.

  • This is a great video to show what other sites explain in words. If they would put the 2 together.its much easier to understand. Thanks

  • Awesome video. Opening up the washer is 90% of the work for me. Once the washer was opened up, I was able to remove the busted pump in 10 seconds! Without this video, I was thinking of lots of stupid ways to open it. Thanks very much.

  • THANK YOU!

I just had to remove the cover of my Estate (by Whirlpool) to find out why my washer wasn't draining or spinning. I found a baby sock stuck in the pump impeller. This instruction helped me greatly to get to the pump quickly!

  • THANK YOU for posting this! I had to remove the cabinet to repair my water pump and couldn't find good directions anywhere else.

  • Thank you so very much for posting this. I took my washer apart, replaced the motor coupler, and got as far as putting the front of the washer back on and was stuck. Without this video and the help of my 13 yr old son, I may never have finished the job. THANK YOU!!!

  • Thank you Appliance assistant. I've been searching for just this very information for about two weeks!!

Maytag Centennial has the two clips under the lid, plus I wasn't careful and broke the plastic clip that he warned me about. oops! But at least I can fix the washer.

  • this is a really help for all my customers who needs to repair it
