Moderates don't speak out because they have grown tired of people like TheAmazingAthiest's abusive responses. People like to point fingers at Christians as being abusive and hypocritical, and I am sure that I can find some videos to support that position if I looked, but is it right for Athiests to mirror the hypocracy? Is it right for them to abuse and demean people who they disagree with? I think not!!
I know moderate and liberal christians, many who are very vocal and while I don't agree with their religion, I support that they are supporting a more positive version of their religion.

I usually agree with Coughlan, but I'm not so sure supporting the move to moderate belief from fundamilist is a good move to make. Once you do, your objective becomes something different than supporting the simple truth of the matter and you move in to muddied waters. It may create more fundies in the short term but as their outlandish ways become more pronounced, they will be marginalized from mainstream society, as they should be, where their numbers should eventually dwindle.

The problem isn't that moderates don't speak out, it's that they get no press when they do so. Anjem Chouldery acting like a buffoon sells more papers and more advertising than a written statement from an organization issuing a statement condemning some awful act. Also, sometimes the condemnations aren't sincere when they come from orgs like CAIR who speak out of both sides of their mouths.
You make a good point really. I tend to like to keep rational debate civil, but I admit there are times when it goes too far and civility is no longer appropriate for the tone. As for the main thrust of your video, I tend to agree. I know lots of theists whom I care very much for. If they are dear and good people, then I'm not that worried about the fine print.

The problem isn't that moderates don't speak out, it's that they get no press when they do so. Anjem Chouldery acting like a buffoon sells more papers and more advertising than a written statement from an organization issuing a statement condemning some awful act. Also, sometimes the condemnations aren't sincere when they come from orgs like CAIR who speak out of both sides of their mouths.

You make a good point really. I tend to like to keep rational debate civil, but I admit there are times when it goes too far and civility is no longer appropriate for the tone. As for the main thrust of your video, I tend to agree. I know lots of theists whom I care very much for. If they are dear and good people, then I'm not that worried about the fine print.

Deism is the belief in an all powerful god that does not intervene in human affairs or suspend the natural laws of the universe. I don't think that most christians believe that their god doesn't intervene, or else they wouldn't pray. I think as well that the anti-science and anti-sex dogma that many christians follow is not from the bible, but instead from the various church's.
