Oh, and when is somebody going to thank me for not completely ruining this clip by attaching some God-awful music track to it? LOL there are so many clips that are un-watchable due to the idiotic music selection by the owners.
@GhostDragon1274 Yeah they do, don't they? they likely were acquired from US surplus, possibly from smaller museums or Veterans Halls or something like that. Some may have been part of the US Army armor museum, which would explain why they look better. Almost all of the German tanks looked really rough when you got up close.
@liberalinthedesertaz Some of them were undoubtedly captured on the battlefield somewhere, others were taken when the Germans surrendered. After 65 years sitting in the sun and rain and snow, who can say if it would make any difference where they were captured. Many of the German tanks had one side of the turret cut open with a wire mesh over it so you could look inside, but of course that allows the elements inside too. I think it's mainly just too many years with too little care.
@jobu88 the KT at the Patton Muesem in KT was cut open, and also was captured at the Battle of the Bulge along with the JagDTiger that is at Aberdeen. At least I think that is where they got the JT from because those were mostly used against Russian tanks.
@liberalinthedesertaz There was at least one unit that used JagdPanthers in Italy and lost several of them. Maybe that's where they got it? Who knows..... that would have been a nice touch if they'd labeled each tank with the details on how it wound up at the museum.
@liberalinthedesertaz Also check out my video of the Bovington tank museum in the UK. Amazing what a difference it makes when you store your tanks indoors and take care of them. They have numerous tanks that are every bit as old but they look in far better shape.
If someone interest, there is one more tank museum in Russia, it's name "Танковый музей в Кубинке" or Kubinka tank museum, they have interensting exhibits too. Also "maus" or "Adam" I hope it will be interesting for someone.
Back in the 60's I lived at APG and used to play on these tanks. Many had the escape hatch on the bottom welded shut but a few didn't and we would get inside of them. It was awesome.
well i rather want to see them free outside where you can breathe fresh air, it also looks more nice with all the green grass and blue sky in the background when you shoot pictures. i don't like museums in buildings that much.
most of those vehicles need new painting though...
My father worked on this tank to make it presentable for the Ordnance museum in the late 70's. He has pics of it when it was all messed up. Ah...memories
Very sad show and bad preservation of technics, I think in this tank museum which professional people work not does not interest history

@jobu88 you have to remember that all of those tanks were captured and thus crudely painted over or something.

what was that at 1:00 ?
Infloresence 1 year ago
@Infloresence That is a 16-inch coastal defense cannon. I think it was a US gun, but I'm not sure. 16 inches = the inside diameter of the gun barrel.
