I dont understand how someone can put this up as barry mguire and it NOT BE barry mcguire! Isnt that called lying? Total crap compared to original version!!
@toffeetigerkimba Actually, this (the Turtles version) came out before Barry McGuire's version. Neither Barry nor the Turtles wrote the song. It was written by a kid who was 19 years old at the time named P.F. Sloan. Barry's version did better on the charts, though.
well, actually i think this was made to show how they felt about how 18 year olds were drafted when they even have the rights to vote and thats how the law about 18 year olds being able to vote as well changed. The time period probably was during the vietnam war? i dont know lol..
May country have five war for 8 years! J am dogs of wars, may gneration is dead. Now j am nobody, bad lucky. . j have love she is killed, j have family some army killed ..dogs...cat... killed evrething army some...J found may old love but now she is so rich..when j say you j am no rich.. yet ,,no love. Stop guns, war. stop. Some peple dont now what is guns, J see evry day.. evry dead blood. Nikola Serbia Stop the earth j go out j want found new better planet!!!!!!!!
I love life. the more you love life and want to love everybody. Guess what, It will happen. Yeah, we control our own reality and our own destiny. That is why everytime your pissed off, nothing works out, you drop stuff, you get tired, you chemistry changes. Get happy now. yahhhhhhhhhh.
I never knew that the Turtles covered this. I've only heard Barry McGuire's version. This isn't quite the same as the one from my youth. Almost, but somethings are a little different.
Listen to "for what it's worth " buffalo springfield..the people that were around in the 1960's well they saw everything except the first and second world war...Stop Look and listen..
the lyrics of this song are so signifigant.why don't we just look and listen.take the wool out of the ears and put it in your mouth..get off the podium of who is right and who is wrong..i feel so powerless.when i hear this song i get angry. i love it .
How old are you??? you are probably old enough to kill..but not for voting..we all know what is going on in the world . do you like wars..??? Stop being so angry and try to find some peace within ..or you will be just like the rest..don't let the fear take over.fear is what has fueled the Iraq war.
As a young child I lived through the terrible fear of the world coming to an end because of the Cuban missile crisis etc. The people of our generation went out on protest marches to try to force the governments to 'Make Peace Not War'.
However, not much seems to have changed. Multinational corporations supply the weapons and so it's just a money-making machine.
I'm sorry to say i don't think it will be in this generation. Unfortunately this world
has at lot of growing up to do. Especially
most americans. We need to make ourselves responsible for the actions of our military/government. i believe time is short and there is no time for change.
I'm only 17, but the stories my grandparents tell me today of the cold war and "the day the Earth stood still" scare the hell out of me. Listen , everyone my age, and take a lesson learned by those who came before us, you don't want to feel the feeling they are talking about. Peace is the answer.
I was 11 when this song came out. It was in the middle of the "cold war". You wan't to talk about being scared? You have no idea what fear is!!=Stefan=
The more things change, the more they stay the same, If you can coax a miracle from this unlikely place, then maybe you can also catch the Devil! But you'll never hold him for long, First check the human heart. In the deepest of all places you may find you are the proud possessor of an instrument of truth that has an ultimate price tag!
In this world where Ugliness is the Norm and Beauty the deviation from that, I guess it makes no difference,
I dont understand how someone can put this up as barry mguire and it NOT BE barry mcguire! Isnt that called lying? Total crap compared to original version!!

That's so much true. I just had this awareness - booom. That's the cool thing of being alive, it's your choice what to make it to.

1:16 those two guys drinking coffee standing next to that poster. (shudder) Oooo, pure evil.
There's nothing worse than two guys drinking coffee in front of an out-of-focus poster.
