  • Karl is a horrible coach he gets way to much credit he lost this series to us (Denver) not his team .... now he's in denver and nothing has changed evertime the nuggets get down in a game he just sits there does nothing and rubs the top of his head .. Karl is way overrated

  • this exact same thing happened with Spurs and Grizzlies

  • ah the 90s when teams played REAL defense i hate being a kid of today

  • I will always be a Nuggets fan! Every year i believe they will win the championship no matter what the record is. I belive in them and i know they will get a championship soon.

  • Same cocky attitude that lead to the heats demise. Pure team ball led to denvers win

  • My biggest first round playoff upsets:

    1. Memphis over San Antonio, 2011

    2. Denver over Seattle, 1994

    3. New Jersey over Philadelphia, 1984

    4. Golden State over Dallas, 2007

    5. Houston over L.A. Lakers, 1981 (3 gm. mini-series)

  • NBA 2k12!!

  • just 1 question....nuggets won the series 3 games to 2...it means in that season it was only best of 5?

  • @flash03jv 1st round was always 5 games til 2003

  • @flash03jv use to be first rounds 5 games series. like MLB

  • boy those sonics man wasted to much talent

  • @MrPunisha08

That Sonics team got to the finals 2 years later though so they showed they were good year in and year out...

  • The Nuggets court was red??????

  • @Snikiiz nuggets colors in the 90's was red

  • @nuggetsfan0115 thanks for the fact, i didnt know that :D

  • vids/moments like this that make me proud to be a Nuggets fan

  • haha, I love how every time Mutombo gets a block the scene switches to Karl with his face in his hands.

  • Gary Payton sucked when he got to the Bucks.

  • That Seattle team was so good, throughout the entire 90s, really. Payton, Kemp, Schrempf, Kendall Gill, Nate McMillan, Vin Baker (briefly). I'm not from Seattle, but I kinda wish they still had the Sonics.

  • Damn shame Seattle went out that early.

Always wondered how they might have done against Houston/Utah/Knicks.

  • And this is why head coach George Karl gave up on his team and went to Denver Nuggets. :D

  • @Nintendo3DSHelp he actually gave up about 6 years later and went to the bucks

  • And history repeats itself! Grizzlies had the heart and they beat the Spurs

  • @ozzy4ever666 Yeah I am a Spurs an, that Memphis team is tough! Spurs were never as good as their record I will admit and were a very weak #1 seed (LA was weak too as a #2), the West must have been really watered downt this year all in all for us to win 61 with that jump shooting team with little D! Record was very inflated for that older team, but hey it is history.

  • looks like history won't repeat it self 17 years later. lol

  • @Yimoney It has happened after then with the Knicks in 99 and Mavs in 06 when GS beat them, both were beaten by the 8th seed.

  • Anyone remember the next round? The Nuggets proved they were no fluke against the Jazz when they came back from down 0-3 to force game seven and lost by only four points in the end. To this day, it's still the closest any team has come to erasing a 0-3 deficit and claiming a series.

  • i need a best of mutombo mix with his best interviews. my dude is the truth! his retirement speech was epic.

  • Fun fact: Shawn Kemp is actually Mutombo's biological father.

  • @CoolerKing37 lol really? ha.. never knew.

  • @CoolerKing37, that's only a half truth. Shawn Kemp is the biological father to every NBA player today. Yes, that includes Dirk Nowitzki =D

  • Man, the NBA should back to the best of 5, in the first round. I think it makes for a better series.

  • @TheDOLMET I think the reason the nba changed the format was because of what happen in this series, a 5 game set was actually a disadvantage to the 1st seed, a shorter series would allow a 8th seed the better chance to upset a 1 seed oppose to a 7 game set were the 8 seed would have to beat the 1 seed 4 times. but then again those sonics were notorious chokers, what happen here then the following season getting ousted by nick "cancun' van exel and the lakers in the second round (1-4).

  • @scenekidacide

Yea, I feel ya. The deciding game 5, was always at home, for the 1st seed. I heard in the early 80's it was the best of 3.

  • @TheDOLMET LOL no it was not man, it was 5.

  • @onblock7

at one point in the 80's, it used to be the best of 3 in the 1st round, look it up.

  • @TheDOLMET Cool I believe you! I know when I started watching in the 90's it was best of 5, back further than that it was before me.

  • @onblock7

    no worries.

  • @TheDOLMET Yeah, they used to call that a "Mini Series".

  • Mutombo's defense and Denver's energy and effort at both ends of the court psychologically wore the Sonics down. Even returning home for Game 5 still couldn't help the Sonics regain their lost momentum. The same thing happened in the 2006 NBA Finals when Alonzo Mourning had a number of huge blocked shots in game 6 of that series and Dwyane Wade worked his magic at the offensive end which gave the Miami Heat their first championship. Once you find a way to slow any team down that's all it takes.

  • wow Seattle actually won the first 2 games and still lost the series..that is a upset but i still think the Warriors vs.Dallas in '07 was still a little harder because it was a seven game format.

  • I was 12 when this happened and still I'll never forget the scene of Dikembe laying on the court, death grip on the ball and having the biggest smile in the world.. and still to this day.. I've never seen anyone as happy as that..

  • @pimpino Manu ginobli after winning the title Game 7 2005 finals vs. Detroit..dude i've seen the footage your talking about but if you see this one you can almost feel how Excited and Happy Ginobli was after finally winning that really hard faught series he looked like the most happiest person in the world at that moment I think he was..lol it's even in a little part of the Finals intro every year in the NBA finals that's how memorable it is.

  • @DB0175 Check this vid starting at 4:20

  • I was 12 when this happened and still I'll never forget the scene of Dikembe laying on the court, death grip on the ball and having the biggest smile in the world.. and still to this day.. I've never seen anyone as happy as that..

  • sace our sonics

  • My Fav Team the Nuggets almost did that AGAIN against Utah IN THE SAME EXACT PLAYOFFS! They were trailing 3-0, came back 3-3 but lost unfortunately lost in Game 7

  • @KHDND it was a great effort by the Nuggets. if only they won the championship. that would be great in the future if a bad team won the championship. remember the 1981 Rockets & the 1999 Knicks. anything can happen in pro sports.

  • WHO WANTS TO SEX MUTOMBO!!!

  • Haha and Coach Karl would later go on to coach the Nuggets!

  • @DrBryant24 My teammate is 5 5 and 180 dunking it easily - The future slam dunk champ. check out | 50 inch vertical [dot] com |

  • DrBryant24 dude, just what else can I say. Everyone considers themselves a basketball fan all study how you can dunk, I just not too long ago completed the training course at "50inch vertical (dot) com" - it's the best course there is (I m merely 5 7!)

  • what's the name of the music at 3:45 ??

  • If Kemp made a few free throws in game 3 the series NEVER would of gone 5. Great upset though

  • reggiw williams for three..... what is going on here in denver? LOL

  • Sorry coach. now your ours. get better george

  • Sorry, I am a newbie in the nba, but i need to ask a question. How come this series ended in a 3-2 match instead of maybe a 4-3 or 4-2? And another question, were all playoff matchups like this in the nineties eighties and seventies? Thanks for the help, and to answer my question, message me!

  • @KingbuumGuy The first round is best of 5, while the rest of them is best of 7.

  • @KingbuumGuy Beginning in 1984, there were significant changes. The number of playoff teams was increased from 12 to 16, with all teams participating in a first round series, which was extended from a best of 3 to a best of 5. All other rounds were played as a best of 7. This was the format until the '05 playoffs, when the first round was changed to a best of 7. For more on the format prior to that, check out the wikipedia article on the NBA Playoffs.

  • YEP, All it takes is to win 1 game and that can completely turn the whole momentum around from that point on. On any given day or night any team can be beaten anywhere. IT'S ALL ABOUT HEART & DETERMINATION.

  • Seattle is too confident. . that's why it happens..

  • Mutombo!

  • Great video of the Nuggets come and check out Colorado's youtube channel!

  • @dunkerTTT it was an exciting series. the NUGGETS almost defeated the JAZZ in the next round trailing 0-3 & forced it to a 7th game but lost. i would like to see a last place team win a championship. the ROCKETS of 1981 & the KNICKS of 1999 came the closest.

  • "This is going to be a sweep"

    "And the Nuggets win"

    "WHAT!?!??!"

  • Shawn Kemp what are you reaching for... 4:18 this game is over home boy.

  • wtf at 4:02 !

    looks like he is bleeding

  • DrBryant24 I'm an awesome 5'7 black dude and I can easily dunk on 11 foot rims. Anybody can easily do it, just use the right training program. I followed the one at | 50 inch vertical [dot] com | but just about any training workout is good if they work (which many do not)

Denver Nuggets SHOCK the world in 1994 NBA Playoffs

  • Do any Sonic fans remember the Sonic Cynic? He was a Seattle sports fan who was calling regularly into the Fabulous Sports Babe on 950 KJR before this series, and even after the Sonics went up 2-0, predicting that the Nuggets would upset Seattle. The Sports Babe bet him the Sonics would. She ended up having to shave her head in defeat...

  • If the Thunder pull that off against the World Champion Lakers that would be Awesome. If they find a way to frustrate the Lakers mentally and take them out of their rythum it could Happen.

  • I hope the thunder will do the same to the lakers

  • The Nuggets...nuff said.

  • DrBryant24, damn this is crazy. That's coming from a guy who s 5 5 but can dunk with EASE. I followed the training program at (50 inch vertical [dot] com) and gained more than 15 inches on my vertical.

Denver Nuggets SHOCK the world in 1994 NBA Playoffs

  • Mutombo clinging onto the ball in joy tells the entire story of the series.

  • what is the soundtrack at the end?

  • Once you find a way to slow them down, you will have them right in the palm of your hands. That's all it TAKES. The 2006 Miami Heat will tell you that!!!

  • @herbertball41

Good luck makin it in the NBA lol

  • here's a good question. what upset was better Warriors over Mavs or this?

  • The only reason is that the Denver Nuggets as a number 8 did it first. As a Rocket a fan I loved it when the Warriors beat Dallas.

  • this the nuggets back then were a 500 - team and seatles record was like64-18 so it wasnt expected and the warriors today can pll out some games we know that

  • 2007 is better

  • fucking mavs lozzer

  • Not a big upset at all. Anyone who knows something about Don Nelson would know that Golden state would win.

  • I REMEMBER THAT GAME! SWEET!

  • @malle1916 yes it was. denver was last & had a young team. what a game ! the next round they played utah. the nuggets were down 3-0 & tied it up to the 7th game. just a darn shame they didn't win. it would have set a new record. i'm saddened by b. williams death.

  • @malle1916 yes it was. the NUGGETS almost set a new NBA record against the jazz. they were down 3-0 & forced it to a 7th game but lost. if only they had won the championship.****anything can happen in pro sports.***

  • thats what i call the heart of basketball, not giving up till the last buzzer sounds.

So glad Houston pushed Lakers to game 7, though they lost.

  • GO NUGGETS

  • seattle wasn't going to win it all anyway, so they got to go home early.

  • they could have choked in the next round against utah.

  • Mutombo we will miss you buddy. May god bless you and your family.

  • as a rockets fan i went nuts when this happened. The Rockets could not beat the Sonics that season and to see them lose in the 1st round was just huge.

  • i guess mutombo helped his future team lol.

  • I used to have this game on tape.... Its long lost now.

I went crazy when the Nuggets won lol

Mutombo had 8 blocks in game 5.

Man does not fly in da house of Mutombo.

  • i dont consider the knicks beatin the heat an upset cuz that season was cut short to 50 games, so it wasn't an upset. this was an upset.

  • the heat was 33-17 and the knicks were 28-22. and those teams were evenly matched. the warriors beating dallas in 07 was an upset.

  • the reign man in his prime

  • Great video.

Interesting to see two arenas that don't exist in the NBA. Seattle Center Coliseum became Key Arena and now the Supersonics are in Oklahoma City. McNichols Sports Arena with its unusual sounding horn, was demolished a few years back,

What's with the NFL Films music in this clip? I thought this was an NBA video.

  • Ahh, sweet memories...

And now this season the Nuggets are finally starting to look really good again. GO NUGGETS!

  • Hey Utahjazzfan04, explain to me how the 2nd seed in the west sucks, Id really like to know how you think the nuggets suck while they are one of the best teams in the NBA.

  • The biggest upset in NBA History..... .... ...

Was The #8 Seeded Golden State Warriors defeating the #1 Seeded Dallas Mavericks .... ....

Because that was a best of seven series

not a simple best of five series

  • nope

  • top three moments in the NBA:

    1) Denver Nuggets defeating Supersonics in 1994 Playoffs First Round

    2) New York Knicks defeating the Miami Heat in 1999 Playoffs First Round

    3) Golden State Warriors defeating the Dallas Mavericks in 2007 Playoffs First Round

its always fun to watch the eight seeded team beating the living crap out of the first seeded team

  • thats one of the funniest things ive ever seen......talk about CHOKE

  • inspiration

  • wow truly amazing

    now nuggets suck

  • rockets still fucked everybody in the end with olajuwon

  • They were lucky that Jordan was retired and Seattle melted down in the first round -- they owned Houston back then.

  • Chicago

  • that is so crazy, nuggets beat a 63 win team in the first round.. go nuggets!

  • Ever since this triumphant moment, I always rooted for Denver when they played the Sonics every game and I still root for Denver when they play the Thunder.

  • nuggets rules baby

  • Actually, your joke is not funny at all...

  • hey man, i thought that shit was funny. hahaha

  • kemp WAS a beast. this was a good series but question who did denver lose to in the next round? just wondering

  • Jazz.

  • if you don't like nuggets don't even watch this vid... retards

  • DENVER NUGGETS RULE!!!!! THEY R THE BEST!!!!! CARMELO ANTHONY RULES AND ALLEN IVERSON 2!!!!!!! but its sad that they traded him. but at least we got billups

  • Denver is magic, melo too and allen of course !!

  • george karl was upset by denver, and then 14 years later coaches them in the same spot, seed 8, and gets swept by LA

  • Shawn Kemp was a beast in his day.

  • was that the grand final?

have the nuggets ever won a nba championship

  • seems like they get knocked out of first round every year.

  • nuggets 1 one in the aba was around but thats it lol

  • Matumbo is good center..^_^

  • Matumbo, Half Man Half Beast

  • This was the funniest thing ive ever seen in sports...

  • I remember being at that game 5 in the old coliseum. Lots of no goaltending calls! We got gipped! You can hear a pin drop after it was over. What a sad day it was!

  • No history will not repeat it self Game 3 2008 Lakers 102 Nuggets 84 this is gonna be a sweep goodbye denver.

  • go denver!!!!!!!!!! we can defeat lakers!!!! DONT STOP BELIEVING

  • I fucking hate the Fakers, but I don't believe shit about you guys now. You should have stepped aside and let Golden State embarrass the Fakers in first round.

Go to hell you Denver Thuggets.

  • your turning into a comedian just like twinssucks2000. lol

  • the only thing that denver need to be the best of the best is a good center beause marcus camby its a very stupid man in the paint he always scores 6 o 4 points every wining team has a good center, lakers, spurs, orlando, phoenix, and in this video they show it dikembe mutombo and if youy think teh lakers without shaq or gasol = pooooor team, so denver hasn't a decent center but it has ALLEN IVERSON AND CARMELO ANTOHTY EVERYTHIGS POSIBBLE DONT STOP BELIEVING!!!!!!!!!!

  • Calm down. Even when Nuggets lose in first round, at least they will lose to the 2008 NBA champions just like they lost to the Spurs last year in the first round, so it ain't that bad.

  • denver sucks, ai n carmelo = two guys that need the ball and need to dribble. No ball movement and absolutely no defense. Bring out the broom. denver get's sweeped 4-0. go lakers!

  • go celtics

  • bitch fuck u ur retarted allen and melo are the best team mates in the fucken NBA!! and they were both on the top 5 scorers so shut the fuck up if u say they suck dumb bitch and fuck the lakers

  • top 5 scorers.. who the fuck cares. they r selfish n don;t play defense. they don't their other plyrs going offensively. wonder why ai is not on the olmypic..hmmmm dribbles too much shoots too much...defense what defense? melo n ai suck monkey balls. play some defense u monkeys.

  • you motherfucker why does all comentators say allen iverson a legend ?? the best guard ever ?? defense ?? ai doesn't have to defense he is 6 feet dude he is the best guard ever better than kobe for sure en why ai is not an olympic ?? beceause nike was the head sponser en ai is reebok you know ?? so shut the fuck up

  • i'm sure that that might change esp. with EMPHASIS on defense for melo. they are NOT selfish players. watch the games. think about it, and get your facts straight

  • the only thing that history will repeat is the lakers winning a championship. the end.

  • Fucking AMEN Grindking!!!!

  • HELL yah!

  • DENVER HEY HO LETS GO we can beat the lakers this year

  • Nothing is impossible, but don't bet the farm on it.

  • Thats the Heart of the Denver Nuggets. Carmelo, Iverson, Camby and JR leading the way. LA wont b able 2 stot us

  • History will repeat itself!!! Nuggets will win against the Lakers!!!

  • it was like dallas and golden state all over again....

  • Haha the coach gots hair. Of course this'll happen again.... GO NUGGETS

  • george karl lol

  • Do U have the NBC intro from this game? Would love to see it.
