What the hell was this... The reason why you are such a good satirist is because you have a naturally calm conservative tone. This isn't your shpeal :\
Being offensive can sometimes be funny, but in this case, I don't think it worked.
I had high expectations upon finding this channel, for I find your Christian satire videos to be extremely well done: great message *and* GREAT comedy. This was so crude and amateurish in comparison it was like it was done by a completely different person.
Sorry eddie this was terrible. The material wasn't right and the delivery was worse. Most of the laughter seemed to be the uncomfortable nervous kind. Compared to your well thought out internet stuff this seemed crude and offensive without any redeeming value. stick to material you know is funny and get the crowd on your side then put out new stuff and end strong
Tough crowd! No, not the real audience in the video - the people commenting here! Damn, people! He's starting out and he's getting stronger. His videos are AWESOME and give him the benefit of the doubt.
Anyway, I think it's better than most people could do only a few months into it, so I say stick with it.
I like the "queen elizabeth from england" joke. Adding that she is from england is what makes it funny, I mean we all know where shes from but by you saying that it makes it funnier somehow.
He's just trying out new things guys give him time. He is getting better. Some of that was really funny. Some of it was a bit nasty without funny but its a fine line and easy to go over. Be Patient he is experimenting
Eddie you should maybe try something similar to what you are already good at. I know you don't want to use anti religious stuff on your stand up right now but maybe mock something else.
You're getting better, but you need more in your repertoire than toilet humor. Mix it up a little. Talking about ESPN going down on his knob was great and so was "douching with Febreze", but the other ones just felt like you were trying too hard to shock the audience and weren't particularly funny. The park-bench joke is still fantastic though.
more vulgar humour. MORE! If it's still shocking people(and judging by the gasping it was) then it's what they need. Bill Hicks always understood that and he was the greatest American comic of all time(sorry but most of your comedians are kinda sucky to my tastes:))
A bit much on the shock humor. It was funny with "douching with Febreze", then when you were talking about "going down on his knob" and "guy-on-guy action" it was a little much.
eddie you are falling to the darkside. humor of such low brow is beneath you. you are much better than this so much better. this type of comedic act is short lived at best. it isn't funny after you've heard it once and every one has heard this stuff before
@mitenzouki Ooo, can't agree more, somehow Seinfeld managed to become great without being vulgar. That is the real art, it is easy to laugh one time about genitalia.
@Kapritchosa there is nothing wrong with being vulgar... if you do it right. have you ever seen jimmy carr? he is wonderful. probably the most offensive comedian i've ever seen but his control of his material is fantastic. it also helps that the particularly vulgar ones are more one liners and he doesn't bother trying to keep it going. you should check him out in any event he is fantastic. but he is the only comedian i've ever seen capable of pulling that off multiple times.
come on eddie ur great at social criticism specially with religion. I didn't like the dirty jokes that much. keep it up, only time up on stage will make you a great stand up.
You're getting better each time. The blue material was a bit much, but I wouldn't necessarily tell you to avoid it altogether. That type of humour can be great if it's well-honed - and that won't happen unless you keep working on it, right?
Didn't much care for this set. Much of the comedy seemed to come from shock value rather than being clever. Dirty jokes can be done well, but those are usually clever rather than outright dirty.
The "Queen Elizabeth from London" part and the ESPN joke were pretty good though.
That being said, your stage presence is getting much better. I understand this is part of the character, but you came across very confident in this one.
you came across as more confident in this one, but personally, the material just made me cringe. i agree with the other folks who said to do your anti-religion material on stage. You'd go down well here in the UK, I'm sure.
Over in the UK the majority love religious humour, works for most comedians i've seen anyway, same reason we loved Bill Hicks and the yanks mostly hated him, but regardless, do whatever makes you happy EDDIE! WE LUV YOU EDDIE , WE LOVE YOU! OHOHOHH
Sorry Eddie. I found this one distasteful and unfunny (for the most part -- the ESPN joke could be salvaged). I like oxyborb's suggestion that you try smart humour. You have the brains, you don't need to go for gross & misogynistic.
Agreed. Ed, you shouldn't completely seperate your religious satire(which i personally like more) and standup. Carlin and Hicks did standup about religion, they kicked ass.
I agree with oxyborb. A strong comedian like yourself would do well to avoid the dirty jokes. You have a lot of potential and I'm enjoying seeing you grow as a comic! Keep it up and keep us posted.
You definitely are improving on your delivery, but overall, I didn't enjoy the material so much.
I don't mind crudeness in comedy, but here, it seemed both forced and trite. I'm especially sick of hearing jokes about about women trying to compete with ESPN/SportsCenter.
I don't mean to come off as a judgmental douche, because I feel you're definitely improving.
I don't have much to add on ROBwithaB's comments, but in order to keep the flow going on the women writing in, you need to make the people more outrageous from more outrageous places. So going from Queen Elizabeth, working up to Grand High Princess Miss Elvirana Nikolaevnika of the Most Gracious and Democratic Prinicipality of Zog, for example.
And don't be afraid to "cross the line". Carlin correctly said that the job of the comedian is to do just that.
lol shock humour, it went well for the genre, keep it up. I find clean/clever/edgy stuff more impressing. Shock humour is kinda cheap. Good job though, keep at it.
i think you almost got your nitch. your getting more confident. you seemed kinda nervous in the first videos to me. im sure these things takes a lot of practice. its why there are not that many comedians around
The material is not as good as some of the earlier stuff, but you do present it better. The practice in front of the live audience seems to be paying-off.
Some serious advice for ya Eddie, and I hope you read these. The delivery was FANTASTIC through the whole thing. I thought some of the material was a little overdone though. You are improving alot though man. Well done, and keep it up.
I liked the material from the other "Creepy Eddies", but the delivery in this one was WAAAY better. The nervousness made it occasionally hard to watch, but in this the delivery was impeccable. The material just made me cringe, though...
Damn Eddie! Your comedy is getting better. You could be more aggressive when you say "soft-spoken", etc. but hey! Always keep the fine line... You almost get her (the "what" lady in the background) to burn you alive. Transitions between jokes could be made a little more evident.
Yeah, I'm with a lot of folks on this one...your delivery is getting a lot better, but your material just ain't floating my ducky.
If you really wanna do creepy, you should do like in your vids: go for WAY too clean-cut and nice, but really, really repressed and/or clueless at how subtly sick and twisted your life is. Like a male and mormon (or christian) Sarah Silverman kinna thing, maybe...
Enjoying your videos greatly, Sir. I did prefer creepy nervous Eddie than creepy angry Eddie, though. But then again, what do I know?!?! I have never done stand-up nor would have the guts to!
Is this really the type of comedy you want people to associate with you? I think you're better than this disgusting & perverted junk you seem to think you have to stick with throughout your routine at every event. To be completely honest with you, I haven't laughed at any of your stand up routines, but rather feel extremely embarrassed for you. The true masters of comedy past had no need for such disturbing notions as you put forth. Sorry, but I have to be honest. Let the down ratings commence!
See now, even that's not funny. It's just insulting sarcasm -- more so insulting.
Yes, I subscribed when you started this channel because I liked the "faith-based" humor on your other channel. However, I've grown very disappointed in you as a person after watching this garbage content you somehow also consider humor. (cont.)
When your audience laughs, I can clearly sense they're mostly straining to laugh (as many cover their faces). IMO, it's not because they truly find your stuff funny, but because they think they're suppose to laugh [for various social reasons].
As you apparently just want cheerleaders here to pump you up, I'll unsub. Good luck!
Let's start with Abbot & Costello or Laurel & Hardy from last century. Yes, a vastly different time. But what does it say about those who expect nothing but "disgusting & perverted junk"? IMO, not good.
Carlin is my favorite. Sure, he did the 7 words you couldn't say on TV, but never did he (or Bruce) do this kind of outright raunch that includes constant reference to bodily fluids or a woman's "love canal". He was smart enough to know there was a certain line, and he didn't cross it.
J. Bishop, B. Hope, M. Berle, J. Benny, R. Barr, Dangerfield, Cosby, Carson, Seinfeld, Newhart, Rickels, Winters, Hicks, Martin, Leno, Letterman, Maher, DeGeneres, Wright, Diller, Crystal, Jon Stewart, T. Allen, Mandel, Romano, Gallagher, etc...
Those, and many other prof standup comedians excelled in their profession with extremely broad appeal precisely because they would never dare try the offensive gutter crap Eddie does.
Do you realise how many times Lenny Bruce was arrested for profanity? They crucified him for it. "Are there any niggers in the audience?"
And of course who could forget Bill Hicks? These men were incredible and succesful BECAUSE they dared. They didn't give a fuck whether or not you found them offensive.
Broad appeal doesn't mean you're good. I think The Spice Girls proved that.
There are different forms of shock comedy. Then there's just shock, disguising itself as comedy. Bruce's legacy is much more sad than comedic.
Judging "good" comedy is indeed a subjective opinion. However, without broad appeal a comedian may be considered good to only a few, and that doesn't necessarily mean the few know something special the masses do not. Usually, it means career failure. If simply using vulgar gutter talk guaranteed "comedic" success, we'd all be stars.
True. I had all his early stuff & thought his humor was just brilliant. However, he never had broad appeal & where is he today? Nowhere, and seldom even mentioned alongside other comedians.
To paraphrase something Carlin once said, if your humor is solid the people will willingly cross the line WITH YOU. I see Eddie as just hitting people over the head with vulgar shock accompanied by really poor attempts at good humor, and then dragging them over the line against their will.
@JesusSavesAtCitibank I kind of agree with you, and think your criticism is in the right direction. @EddieCurrentStandup Keep it up and work at it some more and you'll start doing great.
Thanks. Though my criticism here may seem harsh, it comes from a place of blunt but honest opinion, and was solely intended to help Eddie in his endeavor should he decide to heed it.
Eddie, that 3rd joke with ESPN should have been swapped with the closing joke -- it was ingenious and packed the largest punch. Nevertheless, compare this video to your first vid and youll see a HUGE improvement.
I'm not a real fan of the purposefully "weird" direction your material is going, and I don't think your audience is either. I think that your atheist material is pro, and that you've made some of the most subtle, intelligent, and hilarious stuff on youtube.
Perhaps you can apply your amazing gift of subtlety on other topics than the creepy? :D
I'm a big supporter, dude. Always the best wishes of success in your pursuit of stand up!!!
Started out awesome, deflated near the end, but still much better than your previous efforts. It's cool watching you learn and grow as a comic, Eddie. :)
All I can say is you kick arse dude. Of coure some parts are slow and don't get much laughs, but the bits that do are awesome. I saw frank bag you, I know you won't let that retarded fuck put you off. He wouldn't have half the balls you have to put failed attempts on youtube. You kick arse dude, keep it up, your routine i getting better and better, you will succeed at this man.
Better punch line for your last joke would have been:
"... hot girl on girl action... oh wait. Well, try it. If nothing else, it'll make MY orgasms better."
But still, I enjoyed it. Maybe lose the props, and try to be a bit more "conversational" in your tone rather than false-stressing like you have a habit of doing.
Each one just gets better and better. The first part was really funny. With this character you need to maintain a line of funny with gross. Some parts near the end has the gross override the funny. Still - great job.
It's a very good idea to try out different characters to "voice" your lines for you. It gives you the opportunity to eventually arrive at your own voice.
The problem with settling on a single "character" though, is that the audience eventually come to think that the character is you, and you're fated to be doing the same jokes forever. You don't want to end up being typecast as your character.
I suggest that you introduce a number of these "characters", ( perhaps a maximum of two per set, plus narrator) give them names or nicknames, and let them actually converse with each other. It can lead to some VERY funny stuff and is more natural than a monologue.
The only problem is that it can be difficult to switch voices or personae fluidly. You need to practice a bit. Luckily, that can be done in front of the mirror or camera.
Robin Williams, Eddie Izzard, etc. You just jump from side....
to side to indicate that a different person is speaking, in each case facing the (invisible) person who has just spoken. Difficult to describe but I'm sure you've seen it done.
If your characters are identifiable enough, they can then interrupt the others and even the narrator. Sort of like You plus Angel on one shoulder and Devil on the other. Most people can relate to this sort of internal argument/conversation.
The same line that gets a GROAN when you say it, will get a laugh when Creepy...
Eddie says it. Especially if YOU (narrator) acts as shocked as the audience and says something like "You can't say things like that, dude. Not when we're out in public".
Some of your lines are very very funny, but people need to be given permission to laugh. There are certain topics ot situations that most people would feel very awkward laughing at/about. These taboos are fairly universal. It is precisely that taboo which creats the tension which the comedian can exploit.
... it obliquely. There is a fine line to walk and the audience will tell you which side of it you're on. Those groans are their way of telling you that you're on the right track. You just need to put a bit of distance between the line and yourself. There are various techniques for doing this. Some apologize to the audeince, or their late mother, after a brutal line. Some shout the line to indicate that frustration has driven them to say something which they would not ordinarily say in.....
... polite company. Or you whisper it to indicate your shame at even mentioning it. Et Cetera. Or you do the characters. You seem to have a knack for the character thing. I'm sure the personality disorder helps.
I suggest you try incorporating one or more of your characters into a routine, with "Normal" Eddie keeping it all together. But you might want to practice on camera....
Best of luck. You're getting much better. Keep at it.
P.S. Sorry about publishing my novel in your comments section.
You got's to make' em laugh not cringe. Some of the guys in the audience tried to laugh, but when the material is so shocking and no one is laughing with you then they don't dare.
Also the "try getting down on his knob" was hella-funny.
Don't be so agressive if the audience isn't laughing. Agrissivness amplifies the joke. Most of the comedians work their jokes in waves. They start out quiet and get louder as the joke progresses, when the orgasm of the joke hits they are yelling.
the queen E bit was good, I like the nervious eddie better though, for the mean eddie you gotta really punch up the inflections to make it work. See andrew dice clay.
I like the other way you went in the beginning, see Howie Mandell.:)
Not a very strong ending, but otherwise good. I do think I like creepy Eddie better, though. He's more inappropriate, and hence, funnier. But the notion of him being a perv and not REALIZING he's a perv is something.
Don't listen to the ultra sensitive delicate flowers that commented previously. I laughed at this, and I am not single. Great stuff man. Keep it going
I just LOVE how when he criticizes women, even when it's funny, no women laugh and you only hear a few guys laugh. They're the single men in the crowd, no doubt. Seriously, want more laughs? You can't criticize anything that has a vagina, for any reason, ever.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
your humor is not funny. Between this and the child molester character it is really offensive. The audience didn't go for it because it was not funny. It shows your inexperience because this is what new comics tend to do. Their is an awkwardness to your material and it isn't making the connection to the audience. I love you on youtube but your humor isn't translating to stand up. I hope you work out the kinks because based upon your youtube work, I think you are brilliant.
I never cared for the nervous character. I like boorish stand up routines (as well as surreal intellectual like Izzard), but this was brilliant. Keep doing this, man
Keep up the great work, seriously, keep doing routines like this one. Let them know you are an atheist too.

I comment as a stage actor who has performed Shakespeare, Tennessee Williams, etc.
I did stand up comedy, pretty well.
I was never trained, never had a coach, I could just act, LIVE, for some reason I can't explain.
EC is a great film actor, it works for him, his delivery and timing, worked out over some takes and editing - TOP NOTCH.
EC LIVE. Disaster. No talent for it. Not funny. Uncomfortable looking and sad feeling. Desperate for success even?
And offensive in a way that is not funny.
kaneweb 2 years ago
EC is a brilliant film maker, film actor, and high brow satirist.
But he is a terrible live stage performer.
Those of you on here playing "Yes man" in the deluded belief that you are being "encouraging" are doing more harm than good.
I think of EC as a Smothers Brothers style dead pan satirist of the highest genius.
But can you imagine the Smothers Brothers talking about fucking a dead tuna, vaginal odors, etc.?
It would have ruined their franchise as it is ruining ECs.
Tacky, tasteless.

Some serious advice for ya Eddie, and I hope you read these. The delivery was FANTASTIC through the whole thing. I thought some of the material was a little overdone though. You are improving alot though man. Well done, and keep it up.
Retropact 2 years ago
I like it a lot.
amberview30 2 years ago
I liked the material from the other "Creepy Eddies", but the delivery in this one was WAAAY better. The nervousness made it occasionally hard to watch, but in this the delivery was impeccable. The material just made me cringe, though...
But, of course, keep up the good work man!

lolol hands down funniest yet, the vulgar element was muchhhh appreciated
thisisallidobitch7 2 years ago

Still think you're very funny though.

The last joke was just...not funny, but the rest of it was 3.5/5. You've done better.

"...this disgusting & perverted junk..."
You say that as if it were a bad thing.
"...true masters of comedy past had no need for such..."
Uh... Richard Pryor? George Carlin? Lenny Bruce? The true masters of comedy have seldom been G rated.

@ Eddie,
See now, even that's not funny.

Good luck!

@mister
JesusSavesAtCitibank 2 years ago
I don't think I've ever heard a good comedian who didn't do disturbing notions.

@Blackadder
J. Bishop, B. Hope, M. Berle, J.

TheRantingBrit 2 years ago
@TheRantingBrit
JesusSavesAtCitibank 2 years ago
@JesusSaves - Andrew Dice Clay does it pretty good.
xIntoThePitx 2 years ago
@xIntothePitx
JesusSavesAtCitibank 2 years ago

Your confidence is getting better :)

That was childish, puerile, disgusting, immature and over the top. Exactly what I've been waiting for! Standing ovation.

Each one just gets better and better. The first part was really funny. With this character you need to maintain a line of funny with gross. Some parts near the end has the gross override the funny. Still - great job.

jairorieder 2 years ago
You're going to get there, Ed.
ROBwithaB 2 years ago
I suggest that you introduce a number of these "characters", ( perhaps a maximum of two per set, plus narrator) give them names or nicknames, and let them actually converse with each other. It can lead to some VERY funny stuff and is more natural than a monologue.
The only problem is that it can be difficult to switch voices or personae fluidly. You need to practice a bit. Luckily, that can be done in front of the mirror or camera.
Robin Williams, Eddie Izzard, etc. You just jump from side....
ROBwithaB 2 years ago
to side to indicate that a different person is speaking, in each case facing the (invisible) person who has just spoken.
ROBwithaB 2 years ago
Eddie says it. Especially if YOU (narrator) acts as shocked as the audience and says something like "You can't say things like that, dude. Not when we're out in public".
Some of your lines are very very funny, but people need to be given permission to laugh. There are certain topics ot situations that most people would feel very awkward laughing at/about. These taboos are fairly universal. It is precisely that taboo which creats the tension which the comedian can exploit.
But you need to do....
ROBwithaB 2 years ago
... it obliquely.
ROBwithaB 2 years ago
... polite company.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
your humor is not funny.
