  • a useful trick to avoid the latency screwing you up when you are tracking is to record the drum part while listening to internal sounhds from the drum brain you are using... for example a td-8 or whatever.... then... after your midi performance is recorded... switch your track to trigger the sounds you need from dfh or whatever software lib you are using.... and you will have gotten thry the process with no latency distractions , and the only sacrifice is tracking with temporary drum sounds.

  • great man :) is that a td-9 connected to SD2.0? i wanna do that to, but i've a few doubts:

    1) after installing sd2 on computer and connect it to the drum module where will the output sound be? for example.. will i still put the headphones in the drum brain? or will i have to put them on the output jack of the computer?

    2) The sound of the cymbals, is that fine?

sorry to bother you, thanks anyway!

    Cheers!

  • @ruca10pe

    1) All sounds will be generated by your computer. You can disable the sounds on the module.

    2) Cymbals sounds good to me. You can get additional cymbals via expansion packs (SDXs)

  • eXELENTE!!!

  • Wow u have an Oxygen 2 lol, have u ever experienced any latency with superior drummer because i want to buy it and was wondering if latency was ever a problem with u and if my laptop can cope with it

  • I get ~4ms of latency. You will need a good audio interface to bring your latency down.

  • That sounds great, one question adammazza wich one is better (best dynamics, response, sounds, louder) BFD or Superior ...... the thing is that i want to buy one of the two ..

  • id go with superior

  • I like both. Toontrack seems a lot more active lately with putting out updates, and is more "e-drum" friendly so to speak.

  • dude that first cowbell beat was so awesome!

  • It's a standard Go-Go rhythm. If you check out some Chuck Brown music it's all over the place. Mine are pretty sloppy, there is another person on here who plays some much better examples.

  • hey man could u make a video with BFD 2 like this koz the sound quality in other ones is unrecognisable.......this sounds Great!!

  • yeah, I really need to redo the BFD ones. I'll try and get something up soon.

  • So you can hook you're drum pads or the module to your computer? im a little lost, I really want to give this a try though. I have roland pd-7 pads and a roland td-7 module. What do I need to get this going? besides superior 2.0

  • you connect your drum module's MIDI out to your computer. You need a good audio interface though (think of it as a Sound Blaster card on steroids) to avoid latency. With latency you will hit a pad and not hear it until a noticeable time later. With my setup I'm getting ~3-ms latency.

  • oh ok, thanks

  • Thanks for posting, how to do find Superior 2.0 compared to BFD2? Thanks

  • My initial impression is that Superior 2 seems more polished from a usability perspective. That being said, I do like all the available kit configurations available with BFD and think I prefer the sounds. That is based on not twekaing either set. There also seems to be more add on kits available for BFD2.

I do have to say though, if I just want to sit down and play, I fire up Superior 2.0 at this point.

  • Agreed.

  • What hi hat and controller are you using?

  • I'm using a combination FD8/CY5. It's working well for me. I will eventually get a VH-11s.

  • Hmmm I'm using that same setup. It's not as good as I'd like it to be though. The open then close of the hat sound gets weird. I updated the software and that helped. But still not perfect. I followed the guide on vdrum forums to configure them. Might just have to get a VH-11 myself. Thanks man

  • What sort of setup and latency have you got there?

  • It is a Roland TD-9 controller connected to my PC via midi (Midisport 2x2). The PC is running XP Pro, and Cubase 4.1 Studio using Superior 2.0 as a VST. My audio interface is a MOTU 828 mk3. Cubases reports a very low latency (I's have to double check, but somewhere around 3 - 4ms)
