You sort of needed to be there to appreciate it. I listen to the Today programme most days and it was quite unexpected. I thought she was crying at first. She's done it before when reading an article about a sperm whale
Learn to punctuate. The exclamation mark is best used sparingly not at the end of each sentence and certainly not used twice. A small point but I feel it pays to be accurate with your grammar when you criticise someone's spelling.
my dad told me about it in the paper so i was like okay but when i heard this i know they'll be talking about this for a while and besides it's such a serious station and they laughed at that one thing
Thats bloody class, never listened to radio 4 in my life and never will but when someone laughs like that its bloody awesome. She heard how crap that music was and someone with her obviously looked at her as if to say 'what the fuck is that shite and it set her off'. Love it. Made my day. Brilliant random chaos, cant beat it with a big stick
Cracking, its good to see those at Radio 4 arent immune from infectious laughing! BossDONUTHOLES200 - get a life you loser, the only thing thats shameful is your comment - YOU are all that is wrong with this country. I think you should quit the country and go elsewhere.
i'm 21 and was in my mums car when this came on. i hate radio 4, especially in the morning, its a bit depressing when you are on the way to work which is bad enough. but this was hilarious, she tries so hard to keep it in! so british! i'm a CG fan now!
i don't know why everyones saying it's not funny when clearly it is especially as i've never heard a newsreader on radio laugh like that before! i think you need to put your happy head on BossDONUTHOLES200!
I nearly drove of the road listening to this! It wouldn't be so funny if it wasn't some poor mans death lol They actually appologised to his family later on in the day.
I guess what makes it even funnier is the fact that she's got such a professional sounding voice, and it's Radio 4 of all stations! If this happened on Radio 1 or Capital etc. it wouldn't have been remotely funny.
This is great - I can empathise entirely with poor(?) Ms Green. I had a fit of the giggles once when on an important business call until a senior director intervened!
It would have been good if ALL of the news item had been played here, methinks

Giggling on air would have been a sackable offence in the old days of the B.B.C: In fact being a woman would have been a sackable offence back then!!
Maybe she's auditioning for radio 5 dead, they like this sort of thing on there.
And they wonder why the very fabric of our society is crumbling...
Now where was I?
