  • Excellent video and really brings back memories of my first big carp, caught with surface bread but also right at the bank in a spot just like that. That got me hooked on bigger fish and I have to agree, it's so much better when you've plenty of smaller fish under your belt before you experience the big ones. Now I have a 200HP boat for deep sea fishing in Asia but it all started that day by the bank in the UK, with a bit of bread on a 5lb line.

  • Were is this fishery ??

  • hi what it woud like you to do is cod you do barbel video ple

  • haha ... bite indicationt not the float, rustling of the brushes as it was getting torn thru the hedge

  • it was like watching a 10 year old muppet trying to fish, and he showed no respect for those fish...

  • Take a look at some of the other freshwater videos on this site - grayling, golden tench, schelly, sturgeon, asp, peacock bass .... the list goes on, plus of course all the marine species. Carp are popular fish with a lot of people, but as you say, not the only fish.

  • All the videos I see make me think, there is onely one kind of fish in the water: Carp, a fish that has nearly no natural reproduction in Germany and in England. A fish, put into water to be pulled out again, again and again. Nobody eats it, nobody really needs it, except for fun. Most of the methods and ways are well known, and they just add: .....to catch carp. Where are the other kinds of fish, and where are the fishermen , who catch everything? Just carp, pike, trout, nothing else. All gone

  • too many kids nowadays see big carp in mags, and wanna go out n get them but they turn up at there local day ticket water like this one in the video geared up to take 40 - 50 lbers across europe when in reality they would catch alot more and learn alot more about carp if they started fishing for them this way.

  • talk about bullying the fish, guys like this are the reason i keep landing carp with fcuk'd up mouths

  • @jaythepk i dont think u can really bully a 12lb carp on a 1lb t.c rod and 5lb line mate??

  • why the hell did he land the fish and put the other rod down with a carp on whilst he weighs it, must of been his first 10lber, should of landed them both in same net like the first time, pretty much played it on the elasticity of his line when he stood on the rod.. amatuer manouvers

  • love your style of fishing! Back to basics and traditional methods fantastic!

  • i love your videos i`ve watched this one several times &still love it i`ve had 2 fish on but never tried holding both rods at once-good fishinf

  • That's fishing for soul.

  • Just turn up and start fishing. A man comes around for the money during the day.

  • how'd u get a ticket?

  • This is the funiest video of fishing and i like it.We are realy obsessed with expensive tackle, long distance casting and gold boilies. He has common sense and brain about fishing.Thank for this video. :)

  • Excellent vid.

Much more enjoyable catching good carp on float and a medium set up.

When you have a rod set up with umpteen Lb breaking strain, umpteen Lb test curve and a reel that could tow a landrover, It somewhat takes the sport out of it.

I've sat on Lakes many a time and watched a guy on the other side cast a bloody great lump of lead right across to the opposite bank ! What's the point, just fish close in on the other side and keep quiet.

I find it more exciting seeing a float slip away

  • oh right, cool cheers :)

  • do u cook the hot dogs first ?

  • @123tennisking

They're already cooked. Use them straight fromthe tin.

  • AWSOME video mate

  • ok thanks for all your help im going carp fishing today with your methods:)

  • when u put the hotdog , do you leave the sharp point hanging out or just nothing?

  • @BmxTrixs

Graeme's advice is to keep the hook point buried. The meat in a hotdog is so soft it will pull through on the strike.

  • i know its very cheap but need some for saturday and cant get any in that time is there anything else i can use apart from bran?

  • @BmxTrixs

Bran is all we've ever used for what was being demonstrated. The only other alternative is coasre ground bread feed.

  • does it have to be bran is there anything else we can use?

  • @BmxTrixs

Bran is certainly the best and cheapest option.

  • when u was putting the bread in is that just water in the bucket??

  • @BmxTrixs

Yes, just water from the lake.

  • Top video top carp action

  • i was fishing for carp with hotdog segments and the hotdog segment came off

  • only the gays use bobbers

  • another tip is when you get a big carp try to keep you rod high and not to rel too fast. also if you do have a big fish let it run for 2 reasons 1 is to have more fun and to feel the fish and 2 so when your holding it or getting a picture taken with it, it shouldnt fight or flap about as much -Nathan

  • I believe it comes from agricultural suppliers for horse feed.

  • @StealthCroft

    millbryhill.co.uk/equestrian-530/horse-feed-583/horse-feed-593/broad-equine-wheat-bran-7481.htm?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=7481&utm_campaign=froogle

Is this the sort of stuff you refer to?.

  • Your videos the best mate! I love the fact that your promoting this style of fishing. Keep up with the videos im subscribing!

  • cool ummm just wondering does carp bite bas artificial worms or anything thing in bass area

  • Where was you fishing?

  • thanks! great video by the way

  • Where can i buy bran?

  • @spongeyv1

Bran is sold usually by agricultural suppliers, primarily for use as horse feed.

    Phill

  • @StealthCroft

Where exactly did you get the bran from?.

  • Great video. I have been carp fishing for a short while and your method really works. One thing I would like to know is you said using a 5lb line will be sufficient, but at the end of the video, you caught a 12 lb carp. How did your line not snap!. I have only been fishing for a couple of weeks, so any help would be appreciated.

  • @johnmall57

5 pounds of pressure on a fish, any fish, is a lot. They can handle it in short bursts. It's sustained pressure that turns their heads and beats them. The problem is the sudden unexpected short bursts. But not if you set your drag correctly. Fixed spool drags vary - some are in the centre of the spool; others at the back of the reel. Back this off until you can snatch pull line from the spool without it breaking.

    Phill

  • Which lake is it your fishing in this video

  • Hi from Australia, I really enjoyed your video with its clear no nonsense advice on carp fishing. I'll gradually work my way through your other videos. .I fish for carp during the warmer months and it never ceases to amaze me how much strength and power these fish have. Trout are pushovers compared to them. Please keep making and adding your excellent videos.

    Cheers,

    Steve.

  • Amazing video guys thx bets video of mine

  • great vid :)

  • this-has-gotta-be-my-favourite-fishing-vid-excellent-tips-amazing-camera-quality-and-i-learnt-alot-thanks

  • Sorry but I'm new to carp fishing, if your using a stick float? And your supposed to connect it to the line with float rubbers what is the thing you've connected it with? Thanks.

  • @teamparkside if you mean "what do you use to connect the stick float to the line?" its rubber bands just ask in your local tackle shop

  • @teamparkside It's called a float adaptor, with a ring on which you thread your line through, shots either side and push waggler float into rubber tube on other end.

  • @teamparkside most floats will have an eye, similar to that of a hook, that you thread the mainline through. hope that helps

  • i went epping forest natural lake and got a 30lb on lunch a meat

  • great fellows im just getting into carp fishing

  • hey could you tell me what is in that ground bait you made please thanks?

  • @IIEnZoo

From memory it was just rough bran with perhaps some sweetcorn and hotdog segments in it. It should tell you the exact composition in the video.

    Phill

  • @StealthCroft i have some this will be my first time when i do it again

  • HE PAID 1 POUND 50 FOR A GREAT SACK! jokes. corns #1 carp bait :D very good tips and Tricks! :D love this video. :)

  • what a legend

  • thats muti tasking lol

  • You Sir, have made my day.

  • i got 21 lb on hotdogs alone as well as a 15lb what a day

  • i fish in a small creek and catch 1 lb carp

  • Thanks for the tip on hotdogs i caught a 14.6 lb carp yesterday :)

  • my float fishing icom

  • great vid loving the tips

  • go to lithuania and you will cach a shit on this bait

  • could u do this with river fishing?

  • @DavidKedd

It's not something we've ever considered, for although there are a few Carp in some of quieter stretches of some rivers, nobody here in the UK bothers much with them preferring to fish still water lakes. One potential drawback in running water would be drag lifting the bread bait and possibly even tearing it from the hook. But you could try, and maybe surprise us with the results.

    Phill

  • I fish this way on my local canal and had two carp over 12lbs within an hour yesterday! Best way to fish I know, forget bite alarms!

  • Hi.is the dry bran sold in normal supermarkets? and is the sausage just some 'frankfurter' sausages cut up into small peices? thanks

  • @Dycepticon

Agricultural bran is used for horse feed and is available at suitable agricultural suppliers. The hotdogs sausages or Frankfurters are the cheapest you can find on any supermarket shelf.

    Phill

  • i get more enjoyment fishing this way then listening for a bite alarm to buzz for hours to catch 1 big fish, id rather float fish and catch 6-10lb carp all day, its cheap and cheerful!

  • 7:44 is the best part by far lol

  • Went fishing today at Goodiford mill and tried all sorts of bait but it turned out that the best one was just a bit of bread folded over XD very good video and very helpful

  • is the clutch broken on your reel or do you just like to drag thm in ? fish care is terrible no wonder with people like you about fish in commercials have no lips :(

  • Comment removed

  • i all way's fishh that close where can you get that rough dry bran from ?

and hot dog is amzing i got a 10lb mirror carp from 10ft out XD

  • @mrUNIQUETrIcKs

The bran comes from agricultural suppliers as feed for horses and should cost just a few pounds for a 50 Kg sack.

  • @StealthCroft

thank mate i have got some i am starting to fish on the feeder will marine halibut bait do if from dynamite baits

  • Best Fishing techiqnue's and idea video iv'e ever watch like you say so many video with loads and loads of (mind my french) 'BULLSHIT', Really simple you prove it works i mean TWO FISH AT ONCE! :) good job and thanks for making it simple i'm off fishing on friday :).

  • ok man very thanks,i want to feed the place and fish carp, here in kosova for fishing carp need to feed the place 3-5 days and u can catch is not simle like your fishing, but thanks:)

  • and good job man:)

  • what is the second food?

    bread,sweet corn,hot dog,and?

  • @TheExtrem31

Thanks for the kind comments. The missing ingredient from your list is rough dry bran from agricultural suppliers for use as horse feed.

    Phill

  • ever fished at california country park is so what did youcatch ?

  • @SCREAMZ101

All our Carp fishing in done in the UK.

  • @StealthCroft california country park is near fleet in the uk i notice you were in fleet in one of your vids :)

  • Great video, I'm going to try out everything you used !

So what rod would you recommend for me, I would you it for ledgering, float fishing and free lining. also what is a good reel

To go with that? Thanks if you can help!

  • @IDACism

Rods and reels these days are all pretty good. Any rod with a 1.25 lb test curve, and any small fixed spool reel with a nice smooth drag and line capacity of 100m or more of 8 lbs line should be fine, which is most reels. But you may need to get one with a shallow spool to bring the line up to the top to aid casting. Fladen do some nice rods and reels. Note that specific information on tackle choice is actually given in the video.

    Regards, Phill.

  • love how you manage to net two fish! well done

  • GREAT VIDEO! its good to see the old way cuming back keep the good wrok up

  • even with heavey carp gear u can still fish in the margin ,,,,,,,,,,, nice fish ,,, it just proves that u do not have to use all these complicated baites

  • Respond to this video...

Bran can be obtained from most horse/animal feed wholesalers.Check out a wholesaler on the net for the nearest in your area. It is about £7-50 for a huge great sack, and can be mushed up with bread as groundbait,or scattered dry on the surface.

  • wat is the green stuff called

  • well caught...i mean the second rod! fantastic video pal!

  • great video mate

  • GREAT VIDEO!

  • whats the secret ingredient? i cant hear what he says on that bit proper, and how much would i have to get?

    thanks

  • @scottyc07

Apologies for the delay - just back from the US. There are no secret ingredients. Across all the carp videos we have only used maggots, bread, sweetcorn and hotdog sausage segments, with the same ingredients, plus some bran as loose feed or ground bait. All simple available stuff. And that goes for the next carp video which may well go live this weekend entitled Freelining For Carp where we use bread and dog biscuits..

  • Some very wise words from Graeme in the introduction. An entertaining and intuitive video. Thanks for posting !

  • I passed you question over to Graeme who 'starred' in the video. Seee his comment below....

in answer to "floatfishing for carp" comment. Line usually only 5lbs,6lb easily enough.Remember you will only be using either an Avon or floatfishing rod

  • hello great video, what was the max weight on of the line ?,

  • im 13 and have been fishing for near to six months now, at first i brought the whole 9 yards; bite alarms, rod pods, carp rods, new reels, big nets, and i have to say i sat for many days on the bank just blanking. and that put me off alot, when i saw this video. i immediately purchased a light rod and reel, and started float like the guy in the video. and i must say the results were outstanding. thumbs up for float fishing!

  • great video

    just one question

i dont have waggler would an ordinary red and white bobber work just as well?

  • @armaildo3

I had a word with Graeme who demo's the fishing on the film, and he says......

"no,it needs to be a slender float to offer the least resistance to a fish.a bobber has too much resistance.use a straight waggler ,not bodied and taking about 3bb shot".

    Regards

    Phill

  • catching carp is so much fun

  • i can land i nice sized carp on an ultra light with 6lbs test you just need to have your drag set right itll take a little to reel it in but its so much fun

  • haha hotdogs great idea i used them at mylocal fishery after watching this was catching everything tench , rudd , bream great tip!!!

  • Great stuff! cant beet the old tactics.

  • great vid mate!

  • Great mate, this is real fishing! I caught a 28 pounder the other day from the margin :D

  • gotta love his enhtousiasm! And yes, floatfishing can be very effectif, not only for small carp on commercials!!! Many thirthys and even bigger fish have been caught with that lovely style of fishing.

  • Hey, What fishery is this?

  • Are the hot dogs cooked?

  • @MrRorypitcher

I passed your question over to Graeme who replied.....

"You can use hotdog segments straight out of the tin, you don't have to cook them"

    Phill

  • @StealthCroft

    Great, thanks a lot.

  • excellent video, i have had that happen to me before where your pulling a fish in and the other rod almost goes in :D great feeling

  • great video' the only one that makes sence

  • notice to all lookers. this is real fishing you dont need to cast for england or spend £100's of pounds on bait and tackle its all bulls++t just use about 5 or 6lbmain line on a 12or 13ft float rod fish those margins and i bet youll catch no problem. i do

dont forget to check out the fishing tackle cabin for good cheap gear i use them all the time

  • where is that?

  • I started fishing in summer last year. Just like you said at the start i kinda got lured into the whole "high-tech" stuff. This year i'm going to go back to basic's like you have shown. Not go for big fish start of small. Thanks for the vid and advice on the rigs :)

  • haha that made me laugh how that guy jump for that other guys rod and the camera man whos rod it was just stands there whilsts he trying land his own hahah good ol float fishing

  • what is the max wait of fish u could land

  • @TheBrownie8989

I forwarded your question to Graeme and this is what he says......

On a good day I guess you'd have no problem doing 300lbs from a commercial water in total fish. As to biggest fish on Avon gear etc I've had them to mid twenties,so maybe 30lb would be tops, depending on snags etc. And how long to "wait" for a bite ? How long is a piece of string? Will leave it to you to answer if you want. In your case just start filming and let the rod drag through the hedge !.

    Phill

  • fantastic. just shows you that you dont need all that carp crap thay tell ya you need. all you need is a standard setup with a bigger hook

  • Wanna the best fishing commentaries I have watched, very helpful and clever!

  • Bless you.

  • how come when i fish like this i dont get nothing at all?

  • @SearchnDestroyer Stick at it, ive been fishing this way for years and it always works :-)

  • wow, that was beautiful
