I think people buy and wear leather for the same reasons they buy and wear fur - because they want to & it's fashionable. It's still wrong, it's still exploitation. Same with the meat industry, you're right, it's "inhumane" and still exploitation of another species for something we don't need. Many people see leather as a by-product of the industry and therefore, if they believe eating animals for meat is OK, they're unlikely to have a problem with leather. Fur is a different story. I'm vegan.
@MrBuddhaboy077 How many times (and on how many videos) do you have to be told ? No, vegan campaigners do not wear leather shoes! Please try to understand this time, it's not that difficult to grasp, honest!!!
@MrBuddhaboy077 Erm, no. It's amazing how many people think that they can spot leather from a distance or on a (not close up) video. I get my boots from vegan store or vegetarian shoes, go figure!
@Kelly2357 I don't wear "leather look" shoes - like I've said (and it's pretty obvious) this video is not really filming close up shots of anything, especially my shoes, so you can't see what they look like. If you have no real argument about what we were doing or about the fur industry, please don't waste anyone's time making ridiculous comments and distracting from the real issues. Thanks
@PariahSmith lol, you just said that people mistake your shoes for real leather and even other people here have commented that they look like leather.
@Kelly2357 No, I said people can't see my shoes in the video so they can't tell what they look like - if you look up close, you can see they say "vegetarian shoes" on them. It's besides the point anyway and most people who comment that they think I'm wearing leather are trying to distract from the actual argument about fur. I don't agree with "leather look" or "fur look" clothing and wouldn't wear it myself because I wouldn't want to promote the look.
@netzero26 If you were one of the shoppers, you'd have been told to get out of the room along with everyone else. The guys at the till (not connected to the company itself) were really supportive of us and would have probably refused to sell anything to you if the security were trying to usher you out of the room already
I love how she locked herself to the furs. You would have thought she would have been smart enough to do it to a radiatior or something but yeah... lol
Radiators were behind the clothes rails - the rails were far easier to lock on to and I was then more visible.
As far as being smart - if you're going to glue yourself to something, you have less control over removal - at least with a lock, you have a key. You don't really want to be glued to something that can't be removed from the room in case of fire, etc. I thought it was a bit smarter not to put myself in danger..
We were there for over 1hr & they got kicked out... Couldn't ask for more!
A minor inconvenience that lasted for over an hour and got the London Fur Company kicked out of the show for the rest of the weekend. So they lost 2 1/2 days of profit and we got loads of support from the public and made people think about the fur industry. Sounds like a pretty fantastic and worthwhile minor inconvenience to me!
This isnt going to do anything. The people in the shop already know about fur. Its like going into mcdonals and saying "you are eating animals". Nobody cares.
Fur in the UK is a 1/2 billion pound year and we don't even make any.
We weren't trying to tell the company about fur - we were doing an action against them and telling the public about fur and why they should boycott companies that sell it.
The action went so much better than we imagined - it was successful and we got so much support. If you've got an actual point or criticism to make, go ahead. Otherwise, don't bother commenting again.
@ANTM55 No it's not like going into Mc Donalds and saying youre eating animals. Fur is where the animal is being killed for its fur, ONLY, and then thrown away. You need food too survive, do you need fur too survive... no! Fur is WRONG and yeh it should be illegal! But these days moneys worth more than life i guess.
Superb. These people should be congratulated for their courage and conviction. I completely support their actions and call on all sane uk residents to oppose the sale of fur in the uk
If you don't want to get arrested, there are plenty of things you can do that won't get you in too much trouble. Whatever you do, get an affinity group (people you trust and have the same sort of ideas and ideals as you and who can support you and vice-versa) and come up with an action you think will be effective...
all those wenches that buy fur in that store will get breast cancer anyway!!!

If skinning animals for fur is 'inhumane' then why do people buy and wear leather bags? Why do you eat meat? It's all the same process.

he said fur is illegal? Is it?
pri22v11 7 months ago
@pri22v11 It's illegal to produce fur (farm it, etc.) in the UK - free trade laws mean that companies in the UK can still import and sell it.

@PariahSmith in regards to 'leather look' shoes, please don't promote the 'look' of dead animal skin, you are promoting the skin industry.

Ahaha, if I was one of the shoppers, I would have walked right past them, removed one of the coat, purchased it and walked out.
