CAM-ICU Delirium Test

Amazing! I had three weeks on ICU and suffered many hallucinations and delusions, I know the nurses tested me daily by asking where I thought I was. Only by remembering the instructions given previously by my brother was I able to answer correctly.

I agree that the CAM/ICU Delrium test is very useful. However my only set back on it is how do you determine for sure if a paitent is unresponsive because they don't understand, or because physically they can't respond? Basically someone who can comprehend the requests and knows whats being asked, but can't physically respond?

I think you should make some MORE ICU videos!

When I was in ICU, after waking-up from a drug-induced coma, I thought I was being held hostage in some kind of medical lab! I had soft restraints on my hands and I remember using my foot to try to pull a machine closer to the bed because I thought I would be able to send out an "email S.O.S." - I am sure it was an ultrasound machine or ECG machine.

just like to follow up my post comment 8 months ago, well more by way of apology. I had a mad, bad and most certainly psychotic 3 weeks in an ITU bed - intubated and delirious.

All I wanted to say though is well done on an excellent video, thanks for taking the time to film it, produce it and upload it to youtube.

ITU nurses don't have the time to spend on this sort of exercise, so on behalf of all the temporarily insane intensive care patients the world over thank you for making the time:)

I appreciate this is to help people and for that you are truly to be praised, but I was certainly paranoid in the ICU [delirious I suppose], I was absolutely sure [still am] that an ICU nurse tried to kill me to sell my organs on ebay - heard the whole conversation whilst he was sedating me with serious drugs as I kept ripping ouy my central and trach...

I passed those tests with flying colours though, so was just left to quietly stew in my insanity..

Im ok now ;) no psych history either...
