Alright so I have an 8 month old male corso. Recently on a night walk with Ronan someone jumped out of the darkness and stuck a gun in my face. I was hoping he would instinctually protect me and go after this guy. He failed miserably. Even though he is 100 pounds, mentally I think he is still a puppy. When is the recommended time to start protection work. Do you know of any good trainers in the philadelphia area?

@MrByoung3348 he probably didnt recognize as a threat, remember dogs dont recognize guns like we do, but a well bred/ properly trained dog would have picked up on your fear and the guys intentions to harm you and would have protected you. But 8 months is okay to start just make sure you have his temperament tested out first, and also he has to know the basic commands and a off command as well to ensure that you have complete control over him. Im not an expert i just watch alot of videos.

@pitbull198932 also make sure he is properly socialized so that he will be able to distinguish a real threat from a regular person.

@pitbull198932 and some dogs don't usually start to show adult temperament to around a year old, atleast from my experience, but the person who uploaded this video could probably tell you better than i can.

@MrByoung3348 How about simply moving to a safer neighborhood not promoting yet another assertive dog breed. We are doing our best in society to keep up with a ton of poorly bred pitbulls let alone another type of powerful breed. Or are we not going to be satisfied until more children and seniors are ripped up by poorly bred assertive dogs. Yeah and I dont want to even hear about the nanny dog sheet. That was years ago when there was culling for human aggression. No one is doing that now.
