  • Omgosh my hair is the same exact way I'm trying my best to get used to it but its really difficult doing some styles like twovstarnd twist smh lol we gotta hang in there and accept it (:

  • Black women are just beautiful just they way they are.

    -Arabian dude

  • @sube3 Well, on behalf of all black women...thank you :o)

  • I'm newly natural and I thought I was the only one. Good point with the bonnet, I didn't think of that. Thanks for this video

  • I feel you on the twist outs. I tried it as well and it looks the same. If you find some way to rock the twists w/o the spaces, please let me know.

  • Girl I so happy i'm not the only one. Yay thin haired naturals.

  • OMG!!! I so can relate. I can never really wear the two strand twist outs cause they have too many spaces in between. :(

  • low thyroid causes thinhair

  • @natural6591 this is true. My thyroid has been checked twice and it's fine.

  • @SheSingsLovely check for thyroid anti-bodies, t4 ,t3 and tsh levels. Also try Lessman hair&nails vitamins (HSN)

  • @SheSingsLovely Hypothyroidism is one of the most under-diagnosed conditions. The levels that that regular doctors look for do not pick it up. Try an endocrinologist.

  • WHERE DID YOU BUY YOUR HEAD WRAP? I WOULD WEAR ONE OF THOSE SINCE MY HAIR IS VERY THIN...

  • @bpmarquez77 My hat? I purchased from a little boutique in the Bronx, but I've seen a lot of them in Target and Claires in the mall. Also Icing has them as well.

  • Hi, have you checked out the videos by MonicaWantsMoore? She's also a thin haired sister and she has really lifted me this morning. She's running a series called Natural Hairy Liary Diary and it's really good. She's also turned me onto a page called Tytecurl and they give a really good hair definition explanation. I feel so much better about my hair this morning. Check her out. Much love sis.

  • @SueLocd No, I haven't, but I"ll check her out now. Thanks!

  • This is soooooo not funny!! I predict that braid outs and twist outs are NOT anywhere in my future. The silly thing was that as soon as she added some loc and twist gel they then curled up so they looked like these really cute little bantu knots. The stylist was taking pictures because she liked it so much!! I'm going to try and keep them in for a few weeks so I'm praying that they will thicken up a bit over time. LOL LOL.

  • @SueLocd you can definitely get a twist out or braid out, the definition won't be what you expect...but you'll love it all the same :)

  • I remember seeing this video ages ago & subbing because I was so happy that I had found a sister with thin hair. Well sis, let me tell you, today I went & got box braids, & I left that shop lookin' like Coolio with a fresh do!! I am not lying. My hair is fine, fine, fine, fine, fine!! My box braids are a little bigger than yours & the plaits we got from that size box is about the size of twine. I can hear you laughing girl, you need to stop & just send a prayer up for a sister!! LOL Much love.

  • @SueLocd This just made me lmao harder than I have in a while. I can absolutely relate!!

  • sometimes i wish my hair is thin:(

  • I'm so glad there are videos out there that are dipicting us fine haired folk. I have been consciously growing my hair for 2 years now and have have worn protective styles for 1.5 years. It was tough cause I love playing in my hair. But I discovered weaves (afro looking ones) and now wearing long braids, My hair has thickened up a lot. But it's always gonna be fine. I love my hair though and I'm glad you're representing us! xd

  • ... type hair as me THIN so that I can learn from and I'm glad i stumbled across your videos

    Good luck and thank you

  • @chantel250 I'm glad you found me too, and I'm glad you accept your hair just as I do. It's beautiful regardless

  • oh finally...

I have been searching for somebody that has hair similar to mine and in this video your hair looks exactly like mine does this morning...

The first time I did twists in my hair, they came out just like yours in this video I had the exact same reaction but after 3 days or so I decided that this was my hair there is nothing I can do about it except learn how to take care of it and then give my hair more TLC from now on.

I also realised I needed to find women with the same...

  • YES!!! That's exactly what my hair did when I tried to do small twists. And yeah, the fineness and thinness was the driving factor for going natural. I 2 strand twist my hair every night only to end up picking most of the definition out so it will be a full fro.

  • I <3 you. I myself have thin hair and I'm natural. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Haha! That's how my twists come out - only I have more length but it's still not cute.

  • You personality is peeeeeerfect! you made me laugh with you, not at you! you are perfect.

  • @Alesialynae lol thank you so much :-)

  • OMG, I just did my first set of twist for a twist out, and my hair looked exactly the same. Its about the same length and thickness as yours in this video, and I decided to rock it for a week, primarily because I have been doing wash n go for the entire 3months that I have been natural. Not working in this freezing winter were having. I was so nervous about wearing them outside, and whenever I was in the house around the fiance, I had on my bonnet... I just hope it gets thicker over time...

  • you're gorgeous! I love your eyebrows too

  • I love your eyebrows!!!!!!!!

  • I have fine hair too and find the flat twist out to be amazing. the stretching that i get allowed me to finally gain length, i have curls and spirals that last a week or more. you should give the style a try if you haven't yet.

  • I have fine hair too and find the flat twist out to be amazing. the stretching that i get allowed me to finally gain length, i have curls and spirals that last a week or more. you should give the style a try if you haven't yet.

  • I need help, my hair is super thin like yours is there any hope for a good twisout? when i do em it looks weird

  • @ItsSandyCheeks yep...fluff fluff and fluff. Also, do them when your hair is dry or almost dry and don't make the twists too small. The more hair you have in the twists the better. Also don't expect to have spirals of thick twists...you will have to fluff and separate at the roots so you'll lose some of the definition but it will still be cute.

  • it took u tht long to twist ur hair?

  • @W0lfgirl100 They were skinny twists...not the twists we put in our hair at night for a twist-out.

  • nice.

  • This really is very inspirational - it's all too easy to give up when you feel you can't style your hair. I'm natural too with fine/thin hair and I'm constantly in weaves - maybe this will give me the boost to rock my twists - thanks!

  • My hair looks just like that. I always thought that I was doing something wrong when i twist my hair so i went to a braid shop and had them do it. It looked worse. seeing my hair like that ruined my whole natural experience and mad me sad as hell. I didnt take them out either I did just as you did, put on a hugh pair of hoop earrings minus the hat and just went out. I mean what could do. and your skin is to die for.

  • OK, love your glasses!

  • Yes, I also have thin hair and it's long but I can't do twists at all lol. I'm glad I'm not alone.

  • @laila046: Try fixing it with herbs.

  • u r my hair hero!

  • @puppymilkshake (^_^)

  • Same here. Thanks so much for this vid!

  • I have thin natural hair too, and I'm 4a/4b crazy??

  • Luvved this vid. Mine is slightly thicker and my twists looked similar to those you did when I started. I am 2 yrs natural and they have filled in quite a bit. I never thought they would but they have. It can make styling very challenging. This is not helped in my instance by having a BIG Ole head!

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one. My twist looks like that too.

  • OMG..I had the exact same experience. I was so disappointed with all the spaces between my twists and the shrinkage just made it worst. So.... I wore head wraps for a week to let my hair rest. I couldn't bring myself to wear the twists in public. Thanks for sharing. Like your videos. PKizzm

  • I love how you're always so positive.

  • @AtaroMorelia Thank you :-)

  • Stay strongg girlll

  • I have thin hair too and tried mini twists. Mine came out very similiar to yours. I learned that I can not wear small twists or plaits (unless I wet them before wearing them out). Now, I only put 6 or 7 twists/plaits on my head and my twists/plaits look much better. Have you noticed a difference in your twists since the time you made this video?

  • @NaturalDiva10 nope lol..they are still thin...just longer lol

  • You could walk out the house any way you want..... you rock no matter what and are beautiful.

  • Thank you for this video I have thin hair too and its so encouraging to see someone making it work.

  • I would suggest not putting strong chemicals in your hair, also cut down on using heat. If u use heat, make sure your hair has dry first, and use a heat protectant . I'm not sure if you add oil to ur hair, but if you do purchase some Pure Jamacian Castor Oil and apply to scalp 1 - 2 times a week (i buy this from Amazon). Also make sure your hair stays moisturized.

  • i used to have thick hair im hispanic now it started falling im so scared what can i do to make it thicker again?!

  • @dariakaos keep it healthy and an exercise and eat healthy and scalp massages daily

  • You have beautiful skin.

  • @jayesalady thank you!

  • are those your eyebrows or you drew them

  • @Elbekkaoui I fill them in

  • Its so annoying... My hair is the same length of alot of thick haired natural ladies on here, but because my hair is thin, certain styles don't look half as good. Plus I have a small head...I'm tired of wearing hats/berets (its getting hot) and having to wear certain protectives styles that consist of weave. My own two-strand twists, coils, braids, look a hot mess if I were to wear them out!

  • Girrrrrl lol, thank you for that. Cause I know I also have thin natural hair and people don't wanna believe me.

  • hahaha!! and then the "bang" hahahaha!!!! girl i laugh only because I KNOW! I have the same problem. Even my mum thinks my hair is thick and i keep telling her she is deceived. glad you put this up because sometimes it feels like there aren't enough of us making videos. much love!

  • I have fine hair (thin/medium thickness), but being natural definitely makes it look like I have a lot more hair. I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to wear your twists out of the house. Now that my hair is pretty long (bra-strap length at the nape), I can hide a lot of the scalpiness. You're gorgeous, and hang in there!

  • @basbleupeaunoire Thank you so much!

  • Sometimes I think I need to wear a hat the rest o my life. My hair is actually thinner than yours. :(

  • I also have fine hair and hate that my twists dont look Fat and Chunky... But thanks for helping me not feel alone, coz most naturals' on youtube have dat THIIIICKKKK hair dat makes every style look cute.

U are not alone gal! Luv ya xx

  • I am so glad I found this video. This is exactly how my hair looks when I twist it, and I thought I was doing something wrong...but I wasn't I just have THIN HAIR. thanks!

  • @tcpool: It does not have to be that way, you can improve it.

  • im a dude with naturally thin hair... half black half asian... been like this since i was a kid... asian genes did this to me and it is forcing me to grow my hair out cuz it gives me girlish locks... but im a boy so i cant, sucks being a dude with thin hair haha... but damn i look good with long as hell hair

  • @th3MUTT LOL...I bet you do look good with it. Grow your hair out long and make it work!

  • @SheSingsLovely haha cant, military, but when im out, prob will... and thanks

  • Thank u so much for this video! I'm into the 3rd month of my transition and I had been having second thoughts because my hair is sooooo thin, but after watching some of your videos and then this one I have been convinced that I'm doing the right thing! Keep up the great work!

  • Thank you!! You keep up the great work too! Going natural is the best thing a thin-haired girls (like us) could do. it makes you hair appear thicker and becomes a bit thicker because of the healthiness and the coils! Congrats on deciding to take the step to "love the natural you"

  • My hair was exactly like that. Go ahead and rock your twists. Instead of sleeping in bonnet, try a scarf to make your hair lay better. You can also use colored scarves when you go out and wrap your hair in headband style.

  • My hair grows really slow too! It grows about 1" every four months. My hair is actually on the fine to medium side.

  • I have thin hair also that is why I am going natural. I am tired of the relaxers making it look super thin! I am also just tired of them period.

  • pretty skin

  • Thank you for this. I've only been natural for a three weeks (after a year of transitioning). I have thin hair also, and when I tried to do twist I thought I was just doing them wrong. Now I know it's just not something I can do (no big deal), I love my curly fro better anyway

  • my hair is very thin like this as well. I hate wearing them in twists cause I think it really shows. I am curious though is it thin because is it fine textured as in the thickness of the hair shaft is just really fine and fragile? is it possible to improve that?

  • I believe it's thin because it's fine textured and also in the amount of hair that grows out of your scalp. You can *slightly* improve it, but typically it's naturally thin. I've tried Jamacian Castor oil (google it to buy online). It help a little but not by much.

  • @Thatmainchick: It can be improved and reverse. There is a 3 part naturopathic list on the comment section of my channel, it will remain posted for about 2 days.

  • I heard that. It takes waaay to long to do twists. lolz And it didn't look as bad as you thought it did. And btw your eyebrows are always on point. =]

  • That's great that you are very confident and content with your hair, no matter how thin or thick it may be, so big ups to you for that!

Your skin is very clear and flawless, what's your skin care regimen?

  • Thank you! I have a skin care regimen vid called "Dry Skin regimen." Check it out...hopefully you'll find it informative.

  • My hair is the same way.

  • Completely off topic, but you are really pretty.

  • Thank you *blushing* :-)

  • yes you are purty and beautiful LOL

  • Thank you girl!!! :-)

  • Hi hater! Hope you have a blessed day!

  • Amen, Haters never prosper!! You're goregous and so is your hair!! : )

  • shut up and stop hating HAHA

    happy holidays by the way

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • SSL~ honey u don't know thin...i have thin. my parts are wider than the hair that i twist. :o). all i can say is "LAWD HAVE MERCY" and i DO mean this, i pray for my hair. you have so much more length than i do.

your head & face are so perfect...i would love to have your head. MY head looks like a football.

GUESS WHAT!~ i still go out with it...(that was my 1st prayer) , and luving it. this is allll new to me. all i can do is TRY & PRAY. Pls KEEP THE VIDS coming. I NEED THEM!

  • i love your courage! I have thin hair too and i feel so sorry for myself even don't want to go out (lol) but ya can show it on youtube! Yep you are right, I should love my hair becoz that is my hair

  • Girl thin hair or not, your skin is amazing! What is your routine?

  • Thanks! I have a vid on it, called "Dry Skin Regimen"

  • Glad you made this video! There's a lot of women on YT that have just the opposite and talk about how thick their hair is...and how hard it is to manage (lol) but I don't have that problem at all. My problem is my hair being thin. Its not like unnaturally thin (lol) but it never quite gets that big full afro look.

  • My hair looks the same way when I do my twists and coils! I was so disappointed at first cause I thought it would look like many of the thicker naturals on youtube(I don't know why I thought that anyway??)

  • well you thought that (just as i did) because most of the vids or pics we see are of women with thicker hair than ours. It's cool though, our hair is still gorgeous!

  • I wore my beret throughout the summer too! I basically been wearing my little fro or some rods sometimes(which I hate doing).I hate doing twists and coils too cause it takes 2-3 hours to do and I have to take them out the next day because I don't like going outside with 6 or 7 twists or coils on my lil head!! So now I just do them on days I'm not doing much,I wear my beret when I go somewhere, and then take them out after a couple days, and sorta re-twist them at nite.

  • My twists or coils(before taking them loose) look better the older they get...Does yours? as the roots get old.

  • i think my hair is thin too, not as thick as i would like, when i do my two strand twist i cannot figure out why they don't turn out right, maybe my hair will get thicker as it get longer (i hope), but thanks for this video.

  • I am a thin natural as well! Thank you for posting this. Could you possibly do a tutorial on eyebrows, because yours are just beautiful!

  • Thanks...I have a vid on eyebrows already. Check my vids. Hope ya like it! :-)

  • I forgot to ask; how do you keep them from unravelling?

What do you do to them at the ends? I think I'm

gonna try to keep mine in(once the braids fall out)

    for a 2 week stretch.

    BTW, you look great:)

  • Your hair looks fierce in other styles so you are right, "it is not worth worrying over". Thanks for posting this!! I have 15" in locs and my scalp and roots look the same when the length is curled or I do braid outs. I was wondering how my thin hair would look after my BC next Friday but this post has reassured me that there is NO NEED TO WORRY! Even when relaxed my hair was just as thin. We gotta learn to work with what God gave us!

  • im at my 3 month mark being natural and my hair is long enough to do little 2 strand twist, i wear a koopy cap\hat leaving only the front twist visible. i think its a cute style. i swear by hats, for winter im all hatted and scarved out! lol

  • This was cute LOL my hair is thin I just cut it I did the bc myself this is about my 5th time i've done this but funny thing this time 2 days later my hair started to fall out do you have any ideas that might help me. I put in braids and they just fell out on the sides my hair has never been bald on the edges and i'm embarrassed

  • if ur hair is falling out, braids may not be the best option, due to the stress it can put on hair so delicate. I woul say to just let your hair be and rock a twa. Purchase so pure jamacain castor oil and apply it to your scalp every few days. If you google it, you'll find a store called Sams 24 to purchase it from. Also purchase Biotin vitamis, it is meant for hair skin and nails. Also...ur braids may have been to small and didn't hold on to enough hair. I have to be careful with that as well.

  • LOL I'm laughing so hard 'cause my hair looks just like yours when i plat or twist it (actually thinner cause my dreads caused breakage). You gave me a great idea, I'll recycle my berets/hats that I wore with my dreads when i'm in plats, cause I'm not walking out the house looking like my 4 year old daughter. Cute on her, not on me.

My hair is 8 inches and I let it shrink to 1 1/2 inches just so it can look full. My hair is fine, delicate, and thin just like yours.

    Love your videos

  • thats crazy because my hair is realy thick and i want to thin it a bit...lol

  • i know actually what you mean i also have thin hair. It was very noticeable when i used to relax but now people tell me that my hair looks thick when i have my hair out and when its in a puff. I don't really like to put my hair in twists either because they look kinda thin, however i have discovered from using castor oil they do look thicker than they used too.

  • another thing, when i twist it is almost like micro twist...it doesn't take that long, but the results are fab!! my curls hang because of the weight and they are more defined! I have kept them for a week. every morn. i spritz with water and a leave in cond. they've been fab! my favorite style. 1yr. nat. with out weave!

  • I have the same problem. the solution for twists to look fuller is to limit product use on your twists. twist them damp with very, very little or no product. put the product on after you twist. this has worked for me and my fine hair... i think our hair is the same length.

  • Thanks so much for making this video! All of my natural friends have this thick beautiful hair and i was delusioned into thinking going natural would make my hair thick..oh well. By the way I heart your eyebrows!

  • I love the twist...

    Why don't u try a henna?

  • I don't want to risk changing my hair color...even in the slightest bit. But I just recently starting adding powders to my deep conditioner...the powders are similar to henna (without the coloring effect)

  • Ok..There is a henna called cassia and it have the same properties of a henna, but it would leave a color in ur hair...

What i notice is that i have tried the henna 2x and my hair has become thick...and it leave a reddish tint in my hair...which i love...dat why i mention teh henna cuz it help thicken ur hair....

    Curlytrini87

  • thanks girl...i'll look into it! :-)

  • I am so glad you made this vid...I thought I was the only one with thin natural hair. My hair looks really full in a fro but any sort of ponytail/twists/braids- it's a wrap! The strands are very fine and this is why I cannot use relaxers. The only perk to having "thin" hair is that it takes a minute to air dry lol and flat ironing is a breeze. Thanks for sharing this video- you're like my hair twin heheh

  • I'm glad you enjoyed the vid! :-)

  • The hat looks cute. Great idea with the bonnet. The whole look is very stylish:]

  • thanks! :-)

  • lol, oh and it would take me 3 yrs to do that to my hair lol, but one of the reasons i went natural is because my hair started thining

  • surprisingly my hair is way thinner l00king when i d0 plaits. and when its streched my p0nytail is s0 thin..

    u l00k great. all that gr0wth ;)

  • I know exactly what you mean! I have the same thing! My hair is fine, but when I do an afro after is dries it looks very thick, I cannot do twists, a twist out, or coils, all you see is scalp!

  • Girl, you still look good with the twist, you just have to get used to the new look.

  • great vid

  • Great Vid.... I just made one very similar encouraging others to go natural if they have thin hair.... so yes I totally agree with you .... thanks for adding this vid... & Be Blessed

  • WOW on the hair growth! That was very inspirational for me a 7 month old natural baby. I'm wearing hats like that all the time (summer or winter) now that I am natural. It looks good on you. I pull out some of those twists & I'm good to go. You're so beautiful. Thanks for the vid.

  • my hair is also thin and natural it drives me crazy but I work with it.

  • I have thin hair too, but its getting thicker using my current hair regimen...i agree with ALL you said...thanks for your honesty...it is very refreshing!!!

  • hi i´ve also very thin hair, it´s just like baby´s hair...thanks

  • I don't think it looks bad at all! Giirrll and you WON"T look crazy wearing a hat! It's 100 degress in Houston and I wear hats like that all the time. Rock it girl! You're fab!!

  • Whenever I used to make "Miss Celie" twists I would go to sleep and just rock a fly twist-out the next day. I also practiced my twist large and medium for a while b4 I made any smallish one because I fund they are less forgiving.

  • You are so pretty! Thx for the info!

  • girl it doesn't make a difference if you put a bag on your head you are a BEAUTIFUL WOMAN with beautiful beautiful skin, and i if i was you i wouldnt take those twist out for nothing it takes to long to put in and i love the hoops on you!!! love your videios

  • Thank you so much! Your too sweet :-)

  • my hair was SO thin before I went natural. I never thought my hair could look so healthy and full. It may not be the thickest natural hair, but it doesn't look thin at all. I love that I made the choice to go natural. Good vid!

  • I felt the same way!

  • yeah...I'm loving my hair natural. Though it is not as thick as others, I am now 100% happy with my hair.

  • Don't feel bad.. im gonna do the same thing. I only have one hat and I gotta find some more! I wanna do the twist thing, but I get tired soo quick! You have just inspired me to do this on tommorrow morning!

  • My hair is the same way. You are so right. People don't believe me either. We must be doing something right.

  • love that you are so honest.

  • Omg, I've been doing the same thing! Wearing a winter hat, that looks just like yours, mine is black.. yes w/a bonnet underneath!! In the summertime! On days when my hair is not right, or I'm in a rush, or, when I also have crazy looking twists or braids in that I dont want to take out. I also have thin hair, in the crown area only. Another great video Sis!

  • girl...don't just be walking up in here like you haven't been gone for a minute!!! Where have you been?? lol

  • LMBO! Yeah, you're right! :-) My computer has been out of service, had to send it away twice to get fixed. Just got it back about 5 days ago, & now I'm catching up on everybodys videos! Your hair has grown so much... you always did take very good care of it though, since day one.. I remember!! Keep up the good work sis... you be helping alot of people!

  • Thank you for sharing this. Your hat was so cute and you always have the best-est earrings. Your side comments are so funny. Can those hoops get any bigger??? Girl you know you can seriously ROCK some accessories.

  • I think is Great, and Im loving how your working that hat! Take Care!

  • i thought i was the only one i havepowder puff hair

i use nets caps and disguises ty for being honest

  • no problem...the truth is now out lmao

  • can you one day straighten your hair with a straightner (not a perm or any chemicals)?

  • I actually don't see myself straightening it anytime soon. I'm so afraid of heat damage and don't really love the straight look on me righ tnow...BUT If I decided to do it, then I will definitely do a vid for ya. I may, however, do a twist out on blown out hair soon.

  • I like your hair like that!

  • You are still beutiful no matter what you say

  • :-) :-)

  • You will not look crazy wearing your pretty hat in the summer. I see folks all the time, especially with locs always rocking protective head gear all the time.

And if you're crazy for wearing them, then I'm just gonna be crazy right along with you. Cause I love my crochet hats! lol.

Your look, the hat, earrings, flawless pretty face --you're rocking it woman!

  • Thanks...you always have the nicest things to say!!

  • When I was relaxed my hair was pretty fine also. As a natural its a lil thicker so IDK.

But those berets are LIFE SAVERS for me! LOL

I'm wearing a red one now.

I have a TWA that I'm still getting used to. BC'ed a month ago

  • I hear you on the thin hair. I'm jealous of those people that can finger part and twist their hair and no scalp is showing. People tell me it looks thick and I ended up not contradicting them anymore because they don't believe me. LOL@why are you still recording {:o)

  • I know what you mean, my mom and i have thin natural hair but my sister has hair like my dad, very thick and coily.

  • My hair looks like that, but shorter. LOL

    <
