  • Happy Birthday Bowie!! You are the Prettiest Star. ♥♥♥

  • Happy 65th birthday Mr David Bowie!

  • Thumbs up if Mick Ronson is perhaps the most underrated guitar player ever! The guitar makes the song come alive! R.I.P.

  • what a legend!!! i will always love you Bowie <3

  • everything but cold fire... fuckin lot...

  • I just don't know how I would have made it through the 70's without Bowie !!

  • you didn't need to take LSD when you listen to this album .!!

  • This tune is a great amalgam of musical genres: 1950s Doo-Wop (background vocals), 1950s Rock piano (hammering the keys ala Little Richard), 1920s-early 1930s dance band sound (the sax), and early 1970s "glam Rock." The lyrics are great too. "One day...though it might as well be someday..." The Prettiest Star is My Western Star (my wife, Barbra who's now in Heaven). Barbra -- where you are now, you can hold entire galaxies in the palms of your sweet hands. I will love you forever! Wait for me.

  • "It's the sky that makes you feel tried". Sometimes I look back at when Bowie was vital and vibrant. The passing of the astrological clocks that designate when men can sing. Then I remember that that time is now! We need this music now more than ever! The generation of his gift is more important than ever. Stained back in your memory is the knowledge, that earlier castings of grace began to stand the test of time, even as when this man who transcends time, began to share his uneasy gift with us.

  • @MrMajorTime Hi as I was reading your comments I was overwhelmed by the poetry in your phrasing. Are you contactable in any other form...tweet, blog etc...would love to hook up to discuss collaboration for publishing project. Cheers from the UK

  • @jryanryder Thanks. I'll keep that in mind, seriously. I'm really very much a loner, by design. Not that I'm not open to sharing thoughts with interested people. I'm presently not very contactable, even to myself (I was looking for myself the other day and it took forever to get a response out of me, but that may be ch ch ch changing. Please feel free to express some of your own thoughts to me. You never know, your elaboration may yet indeed lead to some sort of collaboration. Here's looking up.

  • nicely strung together, good one, uploader

  • @joeyrider Thanks. Merely reminiscing of a time when knowledge once came to me directly. I "Sing a song of when I loved the prettiest star." Keep your eye on Vega, it's where we're all headed. And M57! Don't get me started. That's the electric eye module for the TVC15, the parallelogram screen. But that's a story for another time.

    HAMLET:

And therefore as a stranger give it welcome.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,

Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

    Space is limited.

  • The Prettiest Star is, no kidding, Vega, a blue-white star that will always be the standard for first-magnitude stars, in the constellation of Lyra. That constellation also contains M57, The Ring Nebula, where all mysteries of the universe are contained. Interestingly, and significantly, the solar system, and Earth are experiencing a rare blue-shift toward this constellation. That is our worlds ultimate direction. Blue blue, electric blue that's the color of my room, where I will live Blue blue.

  • @MrMajorTime awesome remarks

  • Sudden ending isn't good.

  • This is how much of a Bowie fan I am: on his last tour, which was 2004. I saw him FIVE times! Yeah.. twice here where I live, then I went out of state to two states, to Portland, Oregon and then Seattle, Washington. Then a fifth time to Anaheim, California. So, five times! Reason: it's David Bowie! And I didn't think he'd tour again.. and so far, I've been right.. and third, it's David Bowie!!!

  • He wears more make-up than I ever do! (But looks beautiful wearing it..)

  • @videovixen71 I love this song so much, I have used the name (The Prettiest Star) for more than one online name or log-in.

  • @videovixen71 love him at 1:39, the red..

  • @videovixen71 and at 2:00 - Ziggy!

  • @videovixen71 and at 2:13 and a time before that and before that.. oh heck! I love all of it!!

  • Another one of my favs.

  • AMAZING MAN!!! predict tour next year..(fingers crossed)

  • My favorite Mick Ronson sound.

  • @IamZardoz

Hi,i think Bolan wrote or co wrote the lead guitar parts[and that tone even]he plays on the original demo of the song dude

  • simply untouchable - was, is and always will be

any other words are simply superfluous

    " love on ya , Bowie " x

  • so very amazing, with heart

  • David Bowie : The Prettiest Star

  • i love how he would wear so much make up and wear so muh glitter but was never considered a 'fag' or whatever. he is perfect.

  • @LeePritch5 Bowie swung both ways and didnt care

  • @LeePritch5 Bowie swung both ways and didnt care and this is one of his best yet sadly least rated songs

  • Bowie is playing sax on this.

  • Bowie is totally amazing. Genius.

  • WOW! THE BEST YET! THANK YOU

  • I walked down the aisle to this tune

  • @fergushall That is epic... remind me to do that. In a Ziggy Stardust outfit. With Aladdin Sane makeup. BEST WEDDING EVER.

  • love this video

  • Thanks a lot for uploading this

  • @Thecoffindodger I was pretty sure it was written for angela. I can't stand angela, I find her to be the most obnoxiously annoying person I've ever come across, and as sweet as it would be for him to have written it for Marc, (I'd much prefer it....) I was always under the impression that he wrote it for her. =/

  • @SerenaRoberson it's great that younger people can appreciate him. That sounds naff but I mean it nicely!

  • Aladdin Sane is such a great album. Thank you for posting this!

  • thank you for potsing this

  • I love the guitar intro and exit. The sax playout at the end rocks, too!

  • Eleganza, raffinatezza, glam rock stratosferico, David regala emozioni e una certa dose di classe per chi non mastica l'ars musicale.Questa è una canzone del Bowie "affamato" con un maquillage perfetto.Nessuno come lui.Nessuno come Ziggy.

  • Bolan>Ronson

  • Damn, this is good

  • Aw, I love that he wrote this for Marc Bolan, that's so sweet. I'm glad that they were great friends and inspired each other musically, because look at the genius music that they both made.

  • Lo amooooooooooooooooo!!!

  • I don't trust people...who don't listen to David Bowie....

    I just can't....

  • David Bowie is a genius. very smart man. i've loved him since 4th grade i'm now 46 never gets old. i love him most of all and forever!

  • That is one tasty looking cake.

  • Question - what is your favourite all time Bowie track? I cant decide and I've been a fan since God was little....

  • @frednbarn My favorite of all time is Moonage Daydream, but my top 5 behind that would be:

    1. Scary Monsters, Super Creeps

    2. Cygnet Commitee

    3.Ziggy Stardust

    4. Stay

    5. Boys Keep Swinging

  • @MrMAHBOI1 absolutely! geuss you are too if you appreciated the comment. thank you

  • @valjs64 you too, and i change Scary Monsters to Quicksand.

  • @MrMAHBOI1 that is my very most fav Bowie song (Quicksand) except for Width of a Circle!

  • Is that cake actually his? It shows a cake, then him going to cut a cake lol...

Just curious :P It could have been someone elses hahaha... God knows i'd love a David Bowie cake :D Would feel sorry about eating him though HAHA!

  • BOWIE... and that's all folks!

  • Alladin Sane is the best Bowie album in my humble opinion...makes Ziggy Stardust sound banal

  • Gotta be one of a handfull ... of the most photogenic people ever!?!

  • David Bowie is a beautiful human being and there's only one of him.The Prettiest Star is beautiful too!

  • Ronson always manages to keep some element of the melody in his solos as oppose to an exercise in scales played at speed. In the Ziggy / Aladin period he was as influential to the sound of 'David Bowie' as Brian May was to Queen. Thinking about it, both Ronson and May would have been the focus in any other bands, although without Bowie or Mercury, we might not have heard of either of them.

  • @Nicomagic6

    very well put .,

shows intelligence, understanding and eloquence, pre-requisite of all us Bowie fans.

I doubt he'd appeal to the Take That / Girls Aloud masses....

how pompous am I ????? still, if you've got it - Flaunt It !!

ps - just a suggestion ....take a look at the Starman 1999 Chris Evans TFI on youtube

No better than the original but Jesus F Christ only Bowie could do it like that !

  • the great BOWIE LOVE

  • bowies the man!

  • I'm a straight dude and I would fuck this man.

  • He is just "Him"...Bowie...forever;)))

  • marc bolan played lead on this

  • @mullusk5

Only on the original version released as a single, the Aladdin Sane version is a remake and that's Ronson on guitar.

  • This song was writen by bowie for mark bolan and

mark played the gitar on the trak.

Thay don't make rock stars like this no more ! :O(

  • David Bowie has one of "the" coolest faces in rock n' roll!

  • There's Old Waves.

    There's New Waves.

    ...and there's David Bowie.

  • and lady gaga and the others feel they are special and so gr8! LOL so funny.. look at Bowie, the God of reinvention! and will never be topped

  • One of the greatest songs of all time.

  • 0:37

I just spent about five minutes trying to do that and I can still barely manage it. This man is a legend.

  • Bowie and Mick Ronson at their very best!

  • He's the most beautiful and talented human being there will ever be.

I want that cake at 0:43

  • Don't you just Love him. Ever since I was 12, which was 38 years ago, I still love Bowie.

I could pick a thousand songs, but they are all amizing.

    Thanks David.

    Love you

  • Which version is this? I have the one from the Best of 69-74 album, which I prefer to be honest.

  • I've got a different version to this one. A superior one too in my opinion. Which one's this? Mines on the Best of 69-74 album.

  • I actually like seeing the way he has aged now. Seeing videos of him in the 70's and 80's, although the epitome and class and wit, you could see how drugs really took a toll on him. I like watching the interviews to see how he recollects life back then. I love seeing a healthy Bowie!

Can he just live forever, please?

  • wriitten about angie bowie.

    beautiful song.

not my favourite bowie song, but still amazing.

    i love you david bowie.

  • Really Beautiful, thanx!

  • David Bowie is so amazing! And so beautiful @.@

  • Just love him. thank you Dave

  • it just kind of sucks that hes so 'normal' now:/

  • Agree. It's hard for great artists to maintain their artistic genius, energy, and integrity longer than a few years. I'm just glad he's still alive!

  • thats a good point man! id love to see him bring back ziggy or something! wouldnt that be a blast? i doubt we'll ever get it though. all we got left is our memories - but theyre great ones!

  • she is the prettiest star, thanks

  • He dedicated it to his wife....I love this song!!!

  • This is dedicated to Ian McLaughlin...with love from Pauline

  • I loooooooooove this song!

  • I've never heard this version before. It's good but I think I like the original with Marc Bolan on guitar better.

  • Bowies music is 4ever,I can't imagine being without this album & I've lost count how many copies I've had , my most treasured is the 2nd LP copy,I've had it on show at the front of my vinyl collection since I was at school.

  • Great slideshow, I love this song and the pictures are really cool :)

  • Bowie. A major part of my teen years. So-o-o-o cool. Aladdin Sane - what an album

  • he is Bowie.

  • greatest.response.ever.

  • ur point??

  • It may have been a legitimate question...

Bowie came out as gay in the 70's...it's possible he thought he was or was trying to say his was Bi...or it was all for show.

He has been married for 15ish years to Iman Abdulmajid, she is/was a super model.

    So Bi... possibly, gay no..

    sadly :P

  • i heard he was try-sexual, he was strait, but he would shag anyone, boy or girl, like Mick Jagger , for example...

  • on the morning of his wedding to angie. He was in bed with mick and angie took them breakfast.

  • What........which Mick there were so many micks in his life.

He's probably slept with them all!

  • i remember its release (the Aladdin Sane album)like it was yesterday. nothing ever beats vintage BOWIE.hope i can still enjoy the music and the memories it cunjures in another 35 years

  • David Bowie + Marc Bolan

    I love you (: ♥

    The prettiest star.

  • a great song.. nice little picture show.. one song that nearly sums up 1073... you can almost see touch and taste it

  • 1073, didn't realise bowie was that old !!

  • He's so beautiful -tear- <333

  • I'm on my 7th copy of Aladin Sane, but nothing can beat sitting here watching these old vid's.wow wow wow1

  • He's so surreal, too beautiful.

  • David Bowie IS the prettiest star :D

  • great song! is Marc Bolan there?

  • Gosh,

He is the need for time machines,

    If you catch my drift..

    ;)

  • The single version is very good too - on which Marc Bolan played lead guitar. Great song.

  • Bowie's sound changed with each album.Yet he was able to have "his way of music" on each one.Listen to ZSATSFM then this one and go straight to Diamond Dogs which sounds cartoonish IMHO but one of his best ever.....

  • BRILL!!!!!

  • I like the other version more

  • Same to be honest it's my favourite song <3 x

  • nadie mas lindo que el. incomparable

  • bello bello bello.

  • or you come back, or I kill myself !! .... choose ?

  • Sublime video!

  • this is one of the best compilations i've seen.

  • wonderful video-Mr. Bowie is as talented as he is beautiful.

  • It reminds me of my good old days. Thank you for posting, thank you for living, david.
