I have the 318 and when i get to the setup mode to choose the image i want for the splash screen the head unit asks for a usb or a disc to load from, but it wont recognize my usb or cd...bummer!

This also works with the newer ddx418 and ddx318, the button sequence is menu+tel+reset (triangle is the reset button).

Also works with dnx9980hd and dnx7180, the button sequence is src+volume down+reset (triangle is the reset button).

@danielramos16 The stereo at the time was $500. You can get them cheaper one however this model has been discontinued. They have similar models like the DDX318 for under $450. You could go on crutchfield but I would do some research. You'll find it for cheap.

kenwood sells a box thats vehicle specific fr steering wheel controls. its about 100 dolars more but well worth it so you dont have those useless buttons anymore. and it works great.

I just tried this procedure on my ddx616 and everything went normal all up to when I turned it off and on again, it just goes back to the kenwood image and oem image selection menu and doesn't want to go back to the normal menu. What could have happened or what am I doing wrong?

hay i have the same unit but then i tried the exact same thing but it doesnt give me that screen to choose oem pictures. when i use a pin to press reset it feels like theres nothing there, are u suppose to feel like theres something to press(like a click or something)

Are you sure you're following exactly what I'm saying? I've heard on some forums that if it don't do it correctly you'll have a hard time getting to the OEM screen.

Hey man for the Kenwood DNX-9140 it should be this combination.

Hold down SOURCE and VOL DOWN hit RESET while holding the buttons down, wait for reboot then it should pop up. Choose USB and the picture.
