I actually always thought exactly the same thing about these two, there's a brief mention of the two of them meeting, which is when Cheryl finally finds out exactly what kind of person James Taggart is, I remember the first time I read it I thought that something might happen there - somewhat disappointing that it didn't.
I think you are right. Eddie is my favorite character in AS. I think that he survives (based on something Rand said), and I wish that he had met with Cherryl more.
I think that Sheryl was swept up by Jim's wealth, which she naturally assumed was a product of virtue, instead of second-hand virtue.
I agree her and Eddie would probably match well, but that just wasn't their purpose in the novel. I really like Sheryl's function in the book though if you know what I mean
Cherryl's suicide is supposed to indicate what an oppressive atmosphere does to innocence. Eddie Willers didn't die. His fate is bound to whether or not the heroes succeed.
I disagree. Many people love each other because they are opposites.

Definitely compatible. A plausible match. Neither is a giant but they both have rational values and a lot of potential.

maybe there ought to be a spin off book.hehe

Well the book isn't really about good endings or equal opportunity for all...
Their death is an example of how good people are victims of so called 'altruism' and 'charity'.

imre,
you're an idiot. You'd keep from looking like a fool by not commenting on books that are obviously over your head.
