Yo, #4 Road Rash is super similar to Speed Kings for orig. XBOX. Speed Kings is seriously tight. Check it out if you like motorcycle racing games.

I played the hell out of Need for Speed. Too bad they milked the hell out of the franchise with endless crap sequels. Road Rash was one of my favorites as well, the 3d sequels that followed ending up killing off the franchise. I never got into Star Control II though, seemed a little too nerdy. I used to like Way of the Warrior, mainly because it was so bad it ended up being really funny. My favorite gameshow/party game was Zhadnost. Interesting to see the top 5 votes though.

Issue with NfS? Other than the overall speed (and, yes, that's even with going all manual transmission), the game is kinda played on rails. Try to crash into a wall before a curve: the game camera follows the track, not the car to the point where your car will kinda automatically shift/turn to face the curve of the track. There's no real sense of freedom that I like in racers. Try to drive the wrong way on the track. You can't. Same thing in Road Rash, but at least I get to punch cops there

I still don't get why so many 3DO owners overrate Need for Speed. I mean, good game, but there are things that are severely lacking (speed, for one, though the physics may offset that a bit). I honestly wouldn't put it in my top 10 let alone top 5. But that's democratic voting for you. Now, Star Fighter...there's a VASTLY underrated gem. Going to your old blog, I know that even you underrated it, 3DOkid. Star Control II is still tops in my books though. Best RPG of that gen.

@Prinsdam Seriously? Star Control 2 is one the best RPG's ever made, it was even on IGN's top 100 games of all time and if it weren't for Star Control 2 we most likely would not have Mass Effec 1 and 2 today.

Oh come on, Gex: Enter the Gecko didn't crap on the first one! It's as good as the first one in my opinion and they expanded it and added funnier stuff in it. The third one however is a different story. Not as good as the first two I say. And play some Mad World on the Wii or some Manhunt 2, Metroid, or House of the Dead series. They're not bad.

wii games aren't all girly!!!! When you state something is a true fact you should actually do a little research and play some games on the system....try out madworld, no more heroes, resident evil, escape from bug island, manhunt 2. then there are games like okami, legend of zelda, prince of persia, red steel and destory all humans. So yeah the wii may have mario and things like cooking mama and other non masculine type games buts theres also a plethora of beefed up action packed games!

this console was developed to kill super nintendo... (back in 1991) but it killed itself because it cost about 700 dollars.

indeed it was better than the PS1, except the technology in those days limited the system memory. no biggy...

i'm sure by the times of PS1, they would have released a new one, pushing it beyond PS2 ability.

today if they still made hardware, you can only imagine what we'd be seeing :0

too bad they took their technology with them when they left the hardware biz.

@bisexualbuffthug I always felt that the 3DO version felt more like a simulator, the PS1 version added speed and some extra effects (tire tracks when peeling out) but felt more like an arcade game to me (as does ever version since).

It has cartoon cut scenes but the graphics are bloody great.

I used to own a 3DO until the motor failed on the CD-Rom. Never really did play it much though since so many of the games for it were PC ports. Didn't help either that the moment it tanked, a ton of its big profile games were ported quickly to other platforms.

the virtual boy was a piece of crap, but you have to look at how many consoles nintendo has made and how many chances they took... one of them was bound to be a miss. NES, SNES, 64, DS, GB, wii, gamecube and GBA are all GREAT consoles - easily some of the best ever.

compare that to sega the genesis was freakin' amazing and the dreamcast was great but after that... game gear... nomad... 32x? sega cd? saturn? lots of misses. or let's not even begin to talk about atari..

I thought blade force was ok but the enemy's I found weird. 3dokid do you know all the endings of killing time? I only know 2 but there is suppose to be 3. I saw 1 ending when the game was played proper I saw another ending when it was cheated or low score. I wonder what the other ending is
