Hi Elizabeth. Thanks for the lovely rendering of the song. I am recording it along with the Tagore version of it, to be released (in an album with other Scottish & Irish songs and their Tagore versions) in May, for the 150th anniversary of Tagore. I am listening to renderings of different singers to make sure I have the right pronunciations & tempo.
@ajrahman10 Hi I am Monali. I am collecting the titles of songs that Tagore has borrowed from Great Britain. I shall be obliged if I could get only the titles of the songs that you have compiled for your CD if not the songs. Thanks
@3bongs3 Hello Monali. Sorry it took me so long to see your message. I have been flat out at the studio. The 5 songs I have recorded which are from the collection of song form GB that Tagore borrowed tunes from, are getting uploaded on youtube:-) Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes is one of them which has been uploaded.
Thanks Arch5280. When I uploaded this song, I wasn't sure if I wanted to put my name on my videos but last year I started to. My name is Elizabeth Dobie Sarsam and I used to be a professional concert-opera singer. Now I'm a hobby musician. Thanks for your kind comment. Cheers, e
This song reminds me of another Burns song that Bubble sung at my 50th Wedding Anniversary. Her tender rendering brought tears to the eyes of a Scottish friend. Bubble, thanks for the momory.
ajrahman10, Hi! Pl let me know when they get uploaded. Thanks Monali

Tagore's song has a variation in the melody for the second line. The Bengali can be translated to be sung in English:
1 2 3 1 2 3 12 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 123
Flowers swaying in the breeze, or are they softly sending it by?
Rivers rise up in waves and in a flood go rushing by.
Cuckoos in the flowering branches: coo-hoo coo-hoo coo-hoo sang, still
I know not why I can only sigh, and say alas! alas!

This is extremely beautiful. I'd sing this for my senior song at school if our school had any appreciation for the arts...

Beautiful! And sung by a beautiful voice! (I wish we could know her name, but I can guess why it is being suppressed...)
It is so unfair that the Scottish have such pretty tunes...
