Yes, they bathe pretty much the same way cats do, only they use their teeth as a comb rather than a coarse tongue.

You seem to know a lot about squirrels. What kind of diseases could pass from squirrel to human and vise versa?

There are a few, but most of them are easily curable (and rare, if you wash your hands after touching a sick squirrel you should be fine) The only incurable one I know of is rabies, but rabies is almost nonexistent in squirrels and there are NO known cases of a human getting rabies from a squirrel. Basically it is almost impossible for the average person to catch a disease from a squirrel.
