  • Never thought i would agree with a Politician maybe its because he is retired hmmm but Bob Carr u are on the money

  • This question is aimed at all of the fake greenies in Oz . Why do you let your super fund managers invest your money in China & the mining industry. Are you really that dumb or is it a that you dont give a stuff & this green thing is just a fashion. Its only a short time ago that you voted in an environment minister that made his millions selling plastic music CDs in plastic bags.Surely he knew that plastic is a petrol product ? Petrol is the biggest pollution factor in the world.

  • Dick the people in the cities dont care a hoot about what happens in the countryside , they care about their clean latest model car , their latest designer clothes , furniture & house, oh yes & lets not forget their super thats invested in China . The only thing green in their lives is recycled foreign beer bottles & their water soaked lawns .I really think this issue is worth the work but i see you being side tracked by things you cant change & by people who truly only care because its fashion.

  • we're our own worst enemy. people say they stand for "job protection, wage and conditions", but we put our money where our mouth is, at the checkout. I live in a small country town where the locals were shocked to hear Ardmona SPC was shutting down their Mooroopna plant, but i bet half those people buy the Woolworth brand tinned tomato at the supermarket, not the more expensive Ardmona SPC variety. just like electricity, people naturally travel the path of least resistance.

  • i agree with Dick that perpetual global growth is not the answer, because eventually, no matter how low the standard of living is, there won't be enough to go around. But I don't think Dick is being completely transparent when he suggests that Australia can provide for itself but we lazily import things. Yeah, we could make and grow everything ourselves, but are you going to pay twice as much for a locally produced product when you're struggling to keep up with your bills? It all just about $'s.

  • @gibbernaught 'globalisation' is the culprit, the abolition of protective tariffs. And see Gillard is opposed to any inquiry into manufacturing? Once the ALP stood for Aussie job protection, wage and conditions. Now they're in bed with the 'globalists'. The Liberals are probably more the workers' friends these days than the ALP, no joke. Dick is well meaning i guess, though it's hard to see them capping the population at the current level. And yes i do like cheap affordable quality products too.

  • dick smith represents what the great majority of australians want. anyone who thinks he's racist is plain stupid. at what point has he ever singled I don't want asians/indians/middle easterners or any other nationalities coming to aus? NEVER!! he's simply saying reduce the intake so we can sustain our environment, food and water supplies and develop infrastructure to cope with demands. who here honestly would prefer to live in a shoebox like in tokyo over a nice home with a backyard? go Dick!

  • ay dickheads look at the big picture here. he isnt killing off anybody he is limiting immigration. australia is big. inhabitable australia is tiny

  • 1850-present is the time when the Admiralty sailed into third world nations, meddled with their way of life, began building factories on their fields used for growing, and didn't actually allow the country that was being meddled with to actually become an industrialized nation.

It is a fact, and this is true in every instance, that once a nation becomes industrialized (or rather the standard of living is raised by the people from within that nation) that the population naturally decreases.

  • @hubristime .....well said, educated people see better things in life than breeding these days, like having a puppy or 2 running around the house or a kitten.

At least even in there teenage years, they don't back answer, show real devotion, love and respect.

You cannot get that from a human teenager.

  • @MRMILO57 Lol..I tend to agree with you about the teenagers. I suspect, however, that if we didn't have all of these unnatural distractions placed before us by the NWO powers that be that even the generation gap probably wouldn't be a problem.

Gotta love those pets though. They put up with our irrationalities, and still adore us with those puppy dog eyes. Sometimes even cats do too.

  • Keep Australia for aussies Keep The UK for Brits ,keep Ireland for the Irish, Keep The USA FOR THE yanks, Keep the world for humans, who the fuck invented borders?, twern't an Aussie
