You would be stunned knowing how many servers (hey, we do not only need gaming rigs - also servers to play on *lol* ) run with intel CPU's. Almost none of them ;)

The fact is: Most end-user software is build for Intel. Same with games for nVidia instead of ATI/AMD. Don't judge without knowing where both of them have their strength.

People just like to say "yeah I got an 8 core processor"... well I like to say "yeah I got a 4 core processor that beats your 8 core processor" The 2600k and even the 2500k i7 beats the bulldozer hands down for gaming. That is not to say this is a bad chip. It does excel for business apps like photoshop, video editing and rendering. AMD fanboys always talk price. I read a lot of reviews about this new AMD CPU FX Bulldozer and they say it is not what users expected. It is being out performed by Intel i5 2500K which has only 4 cores.

@dakkeltibuto4466 Actually, it is much more complicated than that. In my job I have to do with both Intel AND AMD and I cannot say I prefer one of them... When we build a server or a CAD/modelling/texturing/art - orientated computer, we always recommend and use AMD. For advanced videoediting, gaming rigs and that stuff we use Intel. The 2500k is faster in games, yes. But the AMD will lead in all core using softwares, which are rare for 8 of 'em atm.

Go to Intel website right now. i5 2500K is not hard to oveclock, overclocking depends on many factors like: MOBO, the chipset, core temps and the voltage or vCore and most of all the CPU cooler(air/liquid). @GuernB2 i7 2600k has 4 logical cores, and 4 virtual threads. So one thread for each core, creating the illusion of an 8-core CPU.  Although windows reads it as 8 cores, it is actually a quad core with 4 additional threads. Its a great design, and is WAY more efficient than AMD's ridiculous multicore CPU's. Intels use less power, perform better in multi-threaded applications, and don't burn up and die after a year.

this is a good gaming pick for the price, but in most apps its still falling behind the latest i7 qual or even the i5 qual in some cases, despite the intel ones run with slower clock and run slower in a few games. but if you overclock both the i7 qual and fx 8cores to 5.2 ghz, there's a chance that the intel can prove to be even further in performance. hence i don't think amd has done enough, but still it's nice to see it goes for higher core/memory support and easy overclocking.
