Facebook posted a vid of the Stones playing this live and I was like oh they covered that country song that's in Big Lebowski? Then I found out this guy covered it from the Stones. The Rolling Stones really wrote some great songs.
this song is pure poetry. the end of all that is relevant in life. the end of love and hate and all our primitve emotions a transcendence. this song is gospel. this is the infinite singing through a simple man. the words spilled out to simple three chord guitar plucks and audience chatter. the world is a better place because of this song. and yes everything is a fucking travesty with you walter...
I won't stop loving you no matter how much I hurt myself. Its a privilege till the day I die. i will die a happy man even still but it might go to show. all light 2uandallyours
@MAJORSHAKE420 who gives a flying fuck about an ignorant ,not gives a shit, for the marmot. a friendly entertaining critter, keeps you company in the high country. a rat would be a fitting friend to you
That background singer doesn't sound at all like Dylan. He's singing in a style that Dylan used a lot , but the voice is way different. I don't know when Townes recorded this , but it sounds like it could be Gram Parsons who's been dead since '73 .
I highly doubt it is Dylan. I have heard they met, but they were in pretty different worlds (major success vs. scraping by), and never toured together. The album it is on includes covers recorded at different live shows. I don't have in front of me to see who was on this one.
I lost alot of brothers ,and afew sisters to the"nature" of this song ,and when I first heard it , thought shit , I too should be among the gone,as I was no lightweight , but here I am, missing my bro's, strung out on oxy 80's (doctors orders) hating life, knowing I should have punched out decades ago, old and not enough balls to do myself up. I think I DID die , and this is HELL! Had I known I would still be here in 2011, when I was 30 I would have punched it past red line, and went out POOF!!!
@88888888ballkmc My feelings exactly. Why did it have to be them and not me. I thought that as I was at a funeral just about a month ago. This dude had a son, a great son he was so proud of.I'm a failed musician that has pissed away every opportunity that ever came my way due to drugs. There's even a movie coming out about my failed existence. The trailer is on here Rebel Scum the Movie.
The Dude abides. I don't know about you but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' 'er easy for all us sinners. Shoosh. I sure hope he makes the finals.
@ninjaswordtothehead I wish you luck, bro. I don't know if I'll ever get off methadone and I WOULD be a liar if I said I don't get uncomfortable watching scenes in documentaries that actually show people fixing. Such as Black Tar heroin and others. Even movies can sometimes give me that itch. Good Luck, I had a friend die of the shit less than a month ago.Paper called it death by Misadventure.
@scumgod13 It may not be much consolation to you, but you guys kind of woke me up. The deepest I got was party drugs and I thought those had me in trouble. God as my witness though, I'm not going any deeper than that. Reading your comments kind of showed me that drugs aren't the game I thought they were. Thanks... and God bless if you believe in him.
@rossobass420 Wow, that means a lot. If I can save one person from the literal hell I've been through then perhaps it's not all been in Vane. I'm talking about shit like wake up dope sick as hell in jail, knowing I'm not going anywhere cause I violated probation, having the cops kick the hell out of me while I'm puking and trying not to choke on it. My list goes on,It's not romantic, nothing cool about listening to your girlfriend crying cause she can't find a vein. She's beautiful too.
II I got her addicted just by bringing it in our lives, before that I was an alcoholic(Still am just don't drink now) But hearing you say you'll not get into the hard drugs is really good.Watch even the Drink, alcohol is a hard drug.99% of the world handles it just fine but not me. I'm not sure what I believe exactly, but I accept your blessings. There must be a God of some sort somewhere for beautiful music like this to exist!
