  • C'mon.. Its not the Fords fault.. Not like it was a motorcycle engine that can be held at 9,000+ RPM's all day. The tech clearly held it past redline and on the dyno you are testing for power and car engines power range is well before redline. I blame the dyno shop tech's for the issue but then again the owner has signed waiver so he's sadly fucked. If anyone disagrees, just go out in your driveway and hold your vehicle to redline in first gear for a while and see how long before its toast

    However I do agree that the Camaro SS gives you more bang for the buck if your gonna build something like this $30,000 extra for the Shelby nameplate isn't really a price worth paying imo

    ok a dyno is used for a number of diffrent things like emissions ,or in this case its for performance.depending on what you want, they can power test.(rec.max hp /torque data )or tune the vehicle.most tuning is done by altering the ecu.ecm .pcm.or what ever the fuck your car has, stand alone, piggy back, ect...see they plug in diffrent values via computer and alter factory values that are ment for clean running or economical performance By tuning a vehical you are now unlocking

  • On the second half of the vid with the exhaust you can see 3-4 light puffs of gray smoke before it goes up in total smoke. The car went lean and he got detonation.... So many things could have gone wrong, fuel pump could have taken a shit. who knows, that is why you sign a waiver before your car gets on a dyno!

  • It looks like the flywheel might have broke? Normally it happens when a engine is revved beyond 8,800rpm.

  • @greendayrules11 Um, Hot Rod put a turbo on a 4.8 and got over 1000hp with 60 dyno pulls. The 4.6 is crap and Ford knows it.

  • @higbull The same reason there are plenty of Caprice ex cop cars with the same kind of mileage? Low performance engine longevity has nothing to do with being able to hold boost on a stock bottom end. Nevertheless, who knows here, it could have been a tuning problem that caused it to pop. The 03-04 Cobra 4.6 is the only one worth considering.

  • @higbull like many other engines the 4.6 can only hold so much boost before piston ringlands break.  tuning in the 4.6 has to be carefully done due to the design of the combustion chambers in the heads. this is why i switched to trick flow wedge style heads because they can be tuned with more timing without running into detonation, pre-ignition problems.

  • @higbull your totally right man.... Cars from the factory in general (especially ford and Dodge) are only made to take 3-6psi max boost.... If you strip down and rebuild the motor from the ground up with the best parts you could easily crank out a good 14psi +. Just out of curiosity.... how much boost were they trying to crank out of that supercharger?

  • @thebraveengineer im not sure but the 4.6 2v can handle up to 450 rwhp on stock bottom end. the 03 cobra terminator can handle a TON of power stock because SVT put good internals in stock. all you have to do is change out the rods and pistons in the stock 4.6 2v not even the factory iron crank and your good to about 900 rwhp because of how strong that oem cast iron block. change out the crank to forged steel and your good till over 1000 rwhp. i know becaues i have one!
