@bustyscholar True, also his mother left him a long time ago, so Brock had to divide his duties between the family and the Pokemon Gym on his own, which is quite impressive (10 brothers and sisters). Most likely, the lack of free time prevented him from developing adequate social skills with women as well as bringing upon him ludicrous amounts of psychological stress. Thank god for Misty, Max, and Croagunk for making sure things didn't get too out of control.

Facing the Ash vs. Cynthia scenario, I concur. Not only will he need insight on Cynthia's tactics, he'll need to train his pokemon like never before if he wants to win.

The skill of critical thinking will prove to be invaluable. Also, a few Eurekas' never hurt.
