  • While saying this rydeen 79/07 for CM, I heard for the charity event for children suffering from childhood cancer. What arrangements are madeso small piano?

  • Rydeen ... YMO are GODS

  • fantastic i remember when they first came out, innovative outstanding and still going strong

  • the bass is insaine...anyone has the name of the bassist ?

  • @XDeathCryerX Haruomi Hosono

  • I want to see YMO live!

  • (Posted by Youtube Stream for iPhone (yst.me) on behalf of ahhachan at twitter)

  • Sugoiiiiiiii!!!

  • いいね。このアレンジも。でもこのアレンジが最初だったら・・・売れなかっただろうなぁ・・(^^;

  • SALUDOS DESDE MEXICO THE BES JAPANESE ELECTRONIC GROUP:::::I REALLY LIKE TOWA TEI AND SO::::

  • This might sound childish and sort of naive, but I really think the CD-version of Rydeen is a lot better than this. I can't say if the rest of the concert was in the same mood and that Rydeen could've been reworked to fit that mood, if it was it's real fine. This just lacks the energy, the cheerfulness of newfound music technology, the total experience that to me was Rydeen.

It's great that YMO played at that age, but to me it wasn't fair to the original Rydeen.

  • @Lop7dh

I mostly agree with you. This was good, but it did lack that "what the heck was that" feeling I got all those years ago when my mate first played this to me. Was never into electronic music at that age (being a rocker at heart) but the original version sort of changed that. If I had heard this version way back then, I might not have bothered tbh...

  • @MrDaveW2010 "There's no energy, no fire, no nothing!" - Chris Tucker.

  • Very GOOD live version

  • OMG, YMO still play :) \o/

  • Ari gato go zai masu!

  • @hahhhroot

  • joder q tios !!!

  • The Best

    Greetings from the USA

  • Kraftwerk use all laptops and visuals. Human League use laptop with keytars and

drumpads. But YMO plays all instruments directly and expertly, like consummate

    musicians. Respect!

  • @vadimfv

Pretty sure there's at least TWO laptops on the stage.

  • Muy, muy bueno!

    greetz from Poland

  • Awesome !!!

    greetings from Brazil.

    Regina

  • STUPENDO (ITALIANO): WONDERFULL ( INGLESE)

  • STUPENDOOOOOO !!!!!!

  • what Korg Synth is that?

  • @ArdianBlur do you mean that little keyboard?

    It's a Korg Micro-X

  • tan ni subarashii!

  • up乙

  • What album can this style rendition of the song be found on?

  • HASYMO - Rescue

  • is that a korg micro x?

  • Yep, and hes got a Kaoss pad 2 sittin there i never noticed too.

  • I'm not much for synth bands but wow, these guys are great.

  • Brilliant.

  • excelente YMO !

  • maravilloso tema.

  • Oh still sounds great! This is it!

  • i like richy shoes!

  • Are they still touring? I would kill the Pope to see them live.

  • I like your thinking ;-)

  • @squeebl only the Pope? xD

  • my 8 year old kid can't stop playing this vid

  • Makes me wish I heard these guys before Casiopea.

Daaayum, that's some deep stuff. 80's goodness.

  • Wow! love this rearrangement - not only the scale's larger, the complexity & depth are also amazing. Thx for the upload. YMO still rules!

  • wow to see these guys get down like they did back in the 80's wonderful

  • Thank you

  • Weird version in a way. :)

  • I would of loved to been there live. An experience like no other.

  • these japanese musical legends still keep coming up like a flower. wish they would work with sylvian again

  • The video is really nice, but I would love to see them play it with the old synthetisers like the real version ahahahah! It would be amazing!

I may be only 20, but i'm a music lover, and I consider Rydeen like an amazing song. If you know music, you can see that the track was built with expertise, and of course, love! :D

  • electric magic in my ears..

  • i saw ymo 3-4 times when i was stationed in army, i heard them alot on radio and when i took my r&r, or was tdy to japan i had the good fortune to see them. while not a fan of a lot of the 80's synth bands i still listen to takehashi's "neuromantic" cd. of course having the guys from roxy music on a couple of songs helped. and yes as a ymo fan i am most certainly a minority in the states.

  • my top 3 bands

    1. the cure

    2. ymo

    3. new order

and on any given night in any venue those 3 bands could be the best on the planet.

  • Wow. I fell in love with Y.M.O. in 1982.

Along with Yukihiro Takahashi and Sandii,

  • i think this version is superb/

taken to a whole other level

  • Wonderful!!!

  • I don't think there will ever be a unique a synthpop/electropop band (or band for that matter) as YMO. Legendary.

  • i totally agree, but I have to admit this does not sound like the good old YMO.

  • fantastic!

    YMO keeps on progressing!!

  • i want them in italy!! they haven't lose the style...simply the best

  • i cant hear hosonos bass.

  • As someone who played bass line parts, it's hard to be noticed when there's a full fledged melody going on (in this case, played by Ryuichi Sakamoto). Isolate the keyboard sounds/toy piano and the drums, and the bass part's right there. It's a little soft, adding a subtle deep tone to the song, so you may not notice it at first. The bass kicks in at :40. This should help you in finding it.

  • It comes in at 42 seconds and plays throughout the rest of the tune.

  • i can hear hosonos bass just fine... maybe you need speakers or headphones with a deeper range?

  • yes. with headphones, i can hear the bass. the sound before 4:30 and the one after that were not so different. hosono really played his bass line with only the right hand, which i copied with yamaha portasound long time ago. hahaha

  • do de do dum dum dum dum d d dum do de do dum dum dum dum d d Ding! Do these guys still perform? I'd love to see them if they ever came to the UK. dum dum dum dum d d Ding

  • Yes.They are still performing as HAS/YMO.

  • yes but it's still the best and so is 1000 knives

  • I had the good fortune of catching Sakamoto in Boston at Berklee several years back. I was so excited, but completely surprised when he came out and presented an extremely experimental show of new works. He even did one number using tennis balls thrown against an open baby grand. Didn't matter, I would have still paid to hear him read the phone book, but I went expecting to hear something like this concert. He was wonderful, nevertheless. Would love the opportunity to see him again.

  • It would have been nice if Akiko also accompanied them.

  • Who is Akiko? I've tried looking on the net. I'm intrigued :o) Nat xx

  • Akiko Yano is the ex-wife of Ryuichi Sakamoto, she was another member of YMO, but she only played on concerts and a few songs. You can see her here on Youtube, look for older videos. She is now a solo artist.

  • Wow that was super quick! Cool! Thank you! I'll look her up x

  • Hehe, I just logged to msn and saw your message coming so I decided to see what it was.

  • loool! chill guys. those guys had their time and it was and is still awesome. this is more like a reunion gig or so... chill, laidback and of course very senior ;-), so don't expect too much of it. sakamoto-san still does awesome minimal stuff together with different people.

  • I love them until this day. They caught the attention of my ears when I was 3 years old. Still love them =>

  • OMG WOW, I had no clue this band was together still :O AWESUM!! Whoa and there's like no eletronic stuff, that's weird. But still hecka cool. Woowoowowowow.

  • this is the first recent footage I've seen where Takahashi is actually playing a drum kit, rather than those percussion pads. He also doesn't seem to play as full on as before. Do you think this is just down to the more subdued style of their performances these days, or is he having to take it easy?

  • A beautiful

Here is the sound that the times demand.

    Recommendation video

    CUE / YMO ⇒ HAS

  • They have been changing.

  • why they are playing this child piano instead of a real synthesiser. Thats not sounding.

Why they are not playing like 1983 or 1980???

    I'm disappointed.

btw: is there a YMO homepage?

  • Wow. I wanna see YMO live :( What DVD is this off of?

  • This Live is Human Audio Sponge -HAS=YMO- in Yokohama.

The Live is charity event for Child Cancer Children & they family.

DVD is not release. I wanna see ,too. :(

  • DVD is released in March.

  • The DVD will be released in March 2008.

  • orz

  • yeah, they are back in order to drink good beer together.
