Only the lower third is from Fallout 2 (Screenshot). The upper 2/3 of the UI is custom drawn/composited in photoshop. The rest is just altering the position of the dialog text.

The armor is a mod of mine. I intend to make it a lootable item that the player can give Fawkes and have him equip it (raising his damage resistance)

You that could say that about Fallout 1 with a straight face will of course get what just you deserve with Fallout 3 (and the repetitive future that you seem to prefer).

Myself I'd pick Fallout 2 over Fallout 3 any day, and I could hardly be content with such simple "wash rinse repeat" action. I hope to mod some interest into FO3, but its difficult and designed for adult kids that only appreciate blunt actions they can see with eye, or that get spooned to them.

Someone should make a mod where the NPC's brutally manipulate the trusting soul that plays the game without heed or understanding of veiled consequences; Taking all baits and suffering all ends, but it'd have to offer the shooter game and let them think they'd won something to hold their interest long enough to return for their super prize (or just call it their surprise ~or better yet, their rude awakening).

LOL, Tactics was a stripped down simplified Fallout with none of the meat, and with just the combat improved (provided you turned off that crappy RT/w Pause default combat). That you'd favor Tactics over Fallout makes it abundantly clear why you'd prefer Fallout 3 lol.

The sad bit is that most anyone that can appreciate Fallout, can appreciate Halo, and or Far Cry 2 and or any other simple shooter, but the reverse is just ~simply~ not true, and we can't help you. Thanks... but you must know that the Fawkes armor mod was an afterthought, and the menu was of course the only point of the video (and the only one of the two that I intended to complete). ~Though the Armor mod turned out to be easy enough to certainly be worth finishing and I [now] intend to.

The menu stays [but of course], and when complete, its my intention to disable the FPP camera entirely (except in the case of a menu option to examine a thing up close).

I had long decided not to helmet Fawkes because in the fray, he'd be the only supermutant in heavy armor without a helmet ~and so, be recognizable to the layer among enemies.

I don't like the look or sound of this user interface at all.

What I would really like to see done is a first person view(including conversation view) that changes depending on what you look through...for the various types of sunglasses, power armor helmets, the biker goggles, eyeglasses, etc.

The way this is it just looks, well, overdone and completely out of place.

I'm working on removing the first person view entirely ~it does not really belong in a sequel (except if you need examine a thing up close).

The Interface shown here is barely ½ complete, but if you did not recognize it by its deliberate similarity ~then I guess you've likely only played Fallout 3 and not F1 & F2.

F3 has very impressive art, and some cool level designs, but as an official sequel to a deep RPG with strategic TB combat, its a sad aberration, and disappointing on so many levels.

Sadly... no. I truly doubt that Mr Sawyer intends anything remotely similar to Fallout two, much less Fallout 1. New Vegas looks to be a FO3 rehash with a few new tricks... It all depends on what they allow him to do, and personal preferences... Which might only extend to the game's setting, and not the mechanics ~Which would mean another new and impressive looking Fallout game with even MORE potential than the previous one ~that doesn't deliver the goods. :(
